Hartel just inherited their family heirloom, The 1883 Umbrella. It was an antique umbrella, it was the very first umbrella made by Samuel Fox in 1853. This Umbrella was worth a million dollars if Hartel should sell it.

1883 The first Curse

Samuel Fox ‘s relative stole the very first umbrella he made. Peter, stole his great Uncle’s umbrella so he can sell it and pay the debt he owe. This umbrella was never sold by his uncle caused the handle was made from a leprechaun’s cane . The leprechaun wanted the cane back and cursed the umbrella. It was only used as a prototype. The 1883 Umbrella handle was made with the Leprechaun’s cane, that was cursed. The Leprechaun cursed the Umbrella cause he regret giving up his cane. Leprechaun are generous but also scarily selfish.

Ever since Peter stole the umbrella, the person who used it and leave it open inside a house or a building, a closed family member would die within a year. No one made any connection with the umbrella, until the owner of the umbrella left it open in the house three times and the owner just die at the spot with the open umbrella in his hand.

The umbrella comes with a note everytime it was passed down to a relative:

Do not keep this Umbrella open inside a house

Death will come upon you or your love one

Hartel turn 24 years old on his birthday, July 19, 2023

Hartel received an antique 1883 marked Umbrella on his birthday by his grandmother Luz. There was the famous note attached to it.

The umbrella has an engraved marking on its handle, “1883 Umbrella”.

Hartel did not want the gift because of the curse and he also did not want to offend his grandmother, so he just put it away in the closet.

Love this take on the challenge, Mariann! So intriguing!! 🤗

  • And here I thought it was bad luck to open an umbrella inside because you could poke someone's eye out. Who knew there was a leprechaun involved?
