You. Have. Me.

You have me.

By Alexa ConlinPublished 4 years ago 3 min read
My children and I.

You. Have. Me. Period.

You have me everyday. All day. 24/7. 365. Even when I have to work, know you still have me. Even when something comes up and my attention strays away for a few moments of our time, know you still have me. When life throws rocks at you, remember you have me. When you feel you are grown and love our, you have me. When you are married with kids of your own, you have me.

You have me. Period.

Everyday I will give my all so you will have me. Even on the days I don’t want to get up. The days I don’t want to be alive — after all you’re the reason I’m still here. You are all the reasons I breathe, the reasons I wake up in the morning and do it all again.

You have me. Period.

Know you have me when life’s biggest disappointments come your way. You were promised something by someone and it didn’t happen? You have me. Family and friends don’t make you a priority? You have me. You’re the third child and people who are suppose to be “important” don’t make an effort to call, text, or even see you? You have me.

You have me. Period.

I am your momma. I painfully birthed you into this world. Not knowing what I was signing up for as a 19 year old first time momma and here I am, just did it again, with a 3rd. I would do it all again 10,000 times just to be your momma. Kids, you have your momma.

You have me. Period.

I come with many titles. Mom, coach, doctor, caregiver, cleaner-upper, chef, #1 supporter and everything else in between. I am everything above the sun.

You have me. Period.

You will always have me. I will always have you. Point blank. You have something exciting that others may not find so extravagant? Tell me! I’ll be sure to be as excited as you, always. I want you to remember that I’m here when you feel no one else in the world is.

You have me. Period.

The best part of you having me? I will always have you too. You have me when you need that extra hug, kiss, cuddle, snuggle. I have you when I need those extras too. Because believe it or not, most of the time I need those extras more than you could ever need them.

We have each other. Period.

You have me. Period.

In this life, we basically have each other. Through everything — thick and thin. I’ve raised you from a tiny infant to a bigger infant (2.5 month), toddler (2.5 years) and a child (7 years). We have made changes along our way and have went through challenges. But together, we have each other. Most importantly, you have me through it all.

You have me. Period.

Always know that you belong here, my sweet children. Always know you’re presence will always be wanted, whether you are a baby still nursing or a 26 year old adult just needing their mom. You can always come home because you need me.

You have me. Period.

My sweet child, I will always be there for you —wherever you need me, whenever you need me. When you need a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, a person to listen.

You have me. Period.

As a parent, it is my vow for you to always have me. Every. Dang. Day. You have me. All the time. All of me. All of the day.

You have me. Period.
