The word 'mother' can have two meanings. One meaning comes from ignorance, and the other meaning comes from understanding. The first mother has only affection; the second mother has maternal feelings. Animals also have affection, but only a few mothers know maternal feelings. Motherly feelings mean giving birth in the true sense - one birth of the body and the second birth of knowledge. There is no love in affection; it only has hormones. A real mother is one who knows love. For that, the mother herself will have to be enlightened.

This word, ‘Maa’, can have two meanings. The truth is that all the words found in the dictionary always have two meanings. And by two meanings, I am not saying that they are synonyms. Both of them have very opposite meanings. Two meanings of the same word, and both are very opposite. It would not be right to call them opposites. I would say both of them are meanings of different dimensions; they are in different dimensions. One meaning is of the earth, and the other is of the sky; and both are there.

Both are used in language. Whether it is a friend, a mother, life, death, love, or violence, all of these do not have the same meaning. The meanings of all these depend on the mind with which they are being seen. And just as there are only two types of minds in the world—intelligent and unintelligent—in the same way, words have two meanings. You must have understood the point. One meaning is that which comes from understanding, and the other meaning is that which comes from ignorance.

So, just like you said, the word 'mother' also has two meanings. One for those who have known what it means to be a mother, what birth is, and what love means. And the second meaning is for those who have not known anything, who have seen whatever, who have just believed whatever they have heard. One meaning of mother can be that from which another body is created. And generally, wherever we see that the body of one person is being created from the body of another person, we very easily give that person the name of mother or father. This thing is only physical and hence very superficial.

There is another mother also. Who does not give birth to you physically but makes you capable enough to understand what mind, body, and this world are. She is your real mother.

There has been a tradition on this earth to become a Dwij. Dwij means one who has taken a second birth. Second birth does not mean that the first body has died and then you go somewhere and take another birth. No. One who has taken a second birth with the same body. And it is understood that even animals have their first birth. Every animal also gives birth to a body. Nothing is required for that; no eligibility is required. But the second birth, becoming a Dwij, is very important. So which mother are we talking about, the one who gives the first birth or the second? Because the first birth is nothing special. To tell the truth, it is not a birth at all, because what is the point of taking a body if one does not know what the body is?

The first mother only gives the body, and the second mother gives liberation from the body. Giving liberation from the body means that she explains what the body is, what liberation is, and what this world is. The first mother has only affection, the second mother has maternal feelings, and there is a world of difference between these two words, understand. Out of the mothers you see around you, nine hundred and ninety-nine out of a thousand know only affection. So affection is there in animals too. But only a few mothers know maternal feelings. Motherly feelings mean giving birth in real form—creativity, real birth. So which mother are you talking about?

The first mother will have nothing but affection. The Sanskrit word affection has ‘mam’ in its root, and ‘mam’ means ‘mine’. ‘Mamta,’ the feeling of mine. And there is nothing in that feeling of mine; it is just like my clothes, my house, my stove, my kitchen, my utensils, my car, my mobile, and similarly, my child. It is just a feeling of ownership. Do not mistake affection for love. Affection is just the feeling that ‘it is mine’ because it has been born from my body.

Maternal feeling is a completely different thing. Motherly feeling means to be able to actually give birth. And for that, it is not necessary that you have given birth to someone physically. Guru is the real mother. Because he gives you real birth. You can be your own guru, you can be your own mother, and you can give birth to yourself. That is why those who know have called the Supreme their mother or father. It depends on how the person who is giving birth, mother or father, is. A person who is surrounded by himself, who does not know his own place, who is not aware of his own life, even if he gives birth to a child, then what will he be able to give to that child except his own darkness?

I have never known light myself, so how can I give light to my child? It is a very simple event for a child to be born. A certain age comes, and nature makes your body such that now it can give birth to children. It happens with humans, and it happens with animals, that as soon as you reach a certain age, you become capable of bearing children. There is nothing special about it. The ability to be called a mother does not come just like that.

A real mother is one who is so full of light that her light reaches the child as well. And it is not necessary that the child be her physical child, born from her body.

It is the work of motherly love to limit one or two children who are the products of my body. Don't forget, animals also do this. Animals also have a great attachment to their children, and it is all chemical. You see a cow, or you see any other animal. After the birth of a calf, it will take care of it for a period; it will not let anyone come near it. But it is all chemical. It does not know anything; it does not understand anything. And a period will pass, and now it will not have any special relationship with that calf. There is no love in this. There is only chemistry and hormones in this.

A real mother is one who knows love. A real father is also one who knows love. But you will not be able to know love by giving birth to a child. When there was never any light in your life, then just by a child coming home, that light will not be available to you suddenly. For that you will have to live a certain kind of life; you will have to become aware of yourself.

I am saying that there is no one more respectable than a mother or a father, but a real mother is a real father. Understand this, and this is not limited to parents. If you take this further, you will understand who is a real friend. A friend is the one who keeps you unconscious, and a friend is the one who wakes you up, whose mere presence makes you come to your senses. He is a real friend. In the same way, who is a real mother?

Not the one who is very concerned about your body. And you see mothers. Any ordinary mother, her concern does not go beyond the fact that 'Son, did you eat food? Son, you are not sick; you look healthy, righ't? If it is a small child, she will massage his body. The mother does not care about what is happening to his soul. She is not a real mother. The mother does not care about what is happening to his mind. And caring does not mean that the mother is cruel or that she wants bad for the child. If the mother herself does not know, then what will she explain to the child?

The one who knows herself only as a body and nothing else than the body, who has never purified her mind, who has never asked herself the question, Who am I?" (Koham), she will consider her child only as a body. She will take care of his body, feed him, clothe him, bathe him, and wash him, but she will never understand what is happening to his mind. And this is why you will find that there are healthy children, but their minds are dark, polluted, and cultured. And all those impurities, all the culture they are getting from the home itself. So the home is taking care of your body, but life is much more than the body. I am not saying that life is not the body. But it is not just the body either. It goes much further. Their mothers are not even aware of it. They think that they are doing a great good for their child, but in doing good, they are causing great harm to their child.

If you ask any parent, they will say that we want the best for our child. And they will say the right thing, absolutely right. Their only wish is that my child should be well. But how can you wish for someone's well-being when you yourself are still ignorant? Your definition of well-being will be twisted. So you will want the child to be well, but you will cause his great destruction. And this is what is happening in this world. Because most of humanity is immersed in darkness, that is why the children that come out of their homes are also immersed in deep darkness. I do not consider that as birth; I do not consider such mothers as mothers.

I am repeating, the real mother is the one who gives real birth. One birth of the body and the other birth of knowledge, the real birth. She is the real mother. You will be very fortunate if your first mother can become your second mother. There have been such incidents in history, but they are one in a million; they have happened occasionally where the father became the guru or the mother became the guru. These have happened very rarely. But you can at least understand this much, and when you understand, your light will reach everyone.

It is said that one who knows the truth, and not the truth, gets the full reward. So forget what happened to Kiff in the past. You wake up and others will wake up with you, including your parents. No one spoke out of love, and there are examples in history when a son has become the father of his father. When a father spoke to his son, "You are my Guru." "Ankit, I have gained enlightenment."

I am asking why can't you be a son like me? The world must be drowning in darkness, why can't you shine? Why are you a soldier who will be born from an astronaut? Why can't you be the reason for the birth of a document? Why do you wait for someone to come and tell the stone to open the last one? Why don't you open up openly and you study even while sitting in the media? Will that not be true love? Then you will be the real well-wisher of your parents. You are not the well-wisher of your parents if you are living in their darkness. By saying that 'how can we hurt their feelings', 'hey they are so old now, they will not listen to us'. You give the same argument that 'we are just children'. 'We should not argue, we should not touch their beliefs'.

If you have true love, you will awaken yourself and awaken others as well. If you have true love, you will say that I should share what I have received and give it to others as well. And this is the feeling of motherhood.

Not affection, but maternal feeling. This is being a mother in the real sense. Anyone can give birth to a child, but being a mother or a father in the real sense is a very difficult task. Only a few can do that. I put a condition before you to be a real father, to be able to give birth to a child. You celebrate birthdays one after the other. How many birthdays have you celebrated? Now celebrate a birthday on which you are actually born. Till now you just feel that we exist, you have not. You have not even found your individuality. So celebrate a real birthday and then you will be entitled to give birth to someone else one day. Do not forget, only the one who has given birth to himself has the right to give birth to someone else and then it is not even a matter of right. Only a few get born through him. ‘Dwij’ – that is the real birth. Are you getting the point?

Know love. You will find that it will spread to everyone through you. When the whole world will get it, then your parents will also get it. And that will be your real service.

If you are sons or daughters, then you want to serve your parents, right? This is the real service. I have attained enlightenment and have conveyed it to you, this is the real service. It is not service that I have carried forward your prejudices. I have never let your beliefs get hurt. I have never challenged your superstitions, this is not service. Do real service, and only those who have found themselves first are entitled to serve. Find yourself and serve others. Then you will become a real son and the one who is a real son will also be a real father. It is a complicated thing but are you able to understand it?
