Prologue

Seoul, the city that never sleeps, is now trapped in a tense silence. The streets that are usually filled with the hustle and bustle of life are now quiet, leaving only the sound of footsteps carried by the cold wind. Behind tightly closed windows, anxious eyes stare at the world outside that has changed drastically. No one knows where this virus came from, but everyone is aware of one thing—every breath they take now could be their last.

The hospital in the city center has become a new battlefield, not with guns, but with masks, ventilators, and a sliver of hope. Inside the building, Dr. Kang Joon-ho stands on the brink of despair, surrounded by increasingly frail patients and an increasingly virulent virus. He has dedicated his life to healing people, but now, for the first time, he feels helpless.

In another corner, Soo-jin, a single mother, cradles her son Ji-hoo as he lies weakly in a hospital bed. The virus is attacking the boy's lungs viciously, and with each passing second, his breathing becomes heavier. Outside the room, a crowd of desperate people continues to grow, demanding answers, demanding solutions.

Time is running out. The virus is moving fast, infecting mercilessly, and humanity is trapped in a deadly limbo. Every day is a struggle for survival, and every night brings new fears. But behind every step back, there is hope—hope that someone will find a way out of this nightmare.

Amidst a storm of fear and uncertainty, in a city that seems to have lost its hope, this struggle has just begun.

Chapter 1: The Emergence of the Plague

The city of Seoul usually throbs with the energy of life, but that day, the atmosphere inside felt different. Gray skies covered the sky, as if reflecting the troubled hearts of its inhabitants. The usually dense traffic was now quiet, and the sound of honking horns was rarely heard. A frightening news of a flu epidemic sweeping across the city began to spread quickly. Inside the main hospital, an atmosphere of panic and tension began to seep into every corner.

Dr. Lee Joon-ho, a 35-year-old infectious disease specialist, stands in front of a bulletin board covered in notes and graphs. His eyes scan the displayed data, his mind racing. In recent days, the number of patients with severe flu symptoms has increased exponentially. “These symptoms are unusual,” he mutters, noting a spike he’s never seen before.

One by one, patients come in with high fevers, dry coughs, and shortness of breath. Joon-ho, in his white doctor's uniform and a mask covering his face, feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. Each new case is like a blow to his soul. He must ensure that his patients receive the best care, but he also feels the despair that is starting to spread among the hospital staff.

“Dr. Lee!” the voice of his colleague, Dr. Kim Soo-hyun, broke Joon-ho’s concentration. He ran over, gasping for breath. “There’s a report of a new patient from the northern district. They’re experiencing the same symptoms!”

Joon-ho nodded, his heart pounding. “We should check on them right away. Is there any further data?”

“Not yet, but they claim to have been in contact with someone who just came back from abroad,” Soo-hyun replied. “We need to prepare for the worst.”

Joon-ho looked at his colleague, feeling the tension rising. “Send a team to check on them immediately. Also, tell the epidemiology department to start investigating this case.”

Quickly, the two of them moved towards the treatment room, where several patients were lying with gasping breaths. In the room, the smell of antiseptic stung the nose, but behind the smell, there was fear that hung over each patient.

On the other side of town, Han Soo-jin, a 30-year-old single mother, sits by her son Ji-hoo’s bed. Her seven-year-old son is weak and has a high fever. His small body shakes as he tries to hold back a painful cough. Soo-jin wipes the sweat from Ji-hoo’s forehead and feels how hot his body is.

“Be careful, honey. Mommy is here,” she said softly, trying to comfort him amidst the fear that was eating away at her heart. She couldn’t let it show.

But, as time went on, anxiety began to creep into Soo-jin. News of the flu spreading like wildfire in a dry field made her uneasy. She had heard that many who were infected did not survive. “Please, God, don’t take my child,” she prayed softly.

Every second feels like an eternity. Soo-jin checks Ji-hoo’s soaring temperature, hoping for signs of improvement. Ji-hoo’s tiny feet move slightly, and Soo-jin lifts her head, new hope burning within her. “Ji-hoo, honey, you can fight this. Mommy believes in you,” she says, gently patting her son’s hand.

As time passes, Soo-jin tries to stay calm even though her heart is full of anxiety. She has been struggling alone since her husband left them, and now, Ji-hoo is everything to her. She can't imagine life without her son.

At the hospital, Joon-ho receives a report from his team about the patients being treated. “We need to prepare isolation rooms,” he tells the staff. “This isn’t just a common cold. If we don’t act quickly, we could end up facing an epidemic.”

Soo-hyun added, “We must remind the public to take preventive measures. Hygiene and wearing masks must be emphasized.”

Dr. Lee Joon-ho nodded in agreement. “We need to coordinate with local governments to spread information about the outbreak. The public must be vigilant.”

Back home, Soo-jin tries to find information about the disturbing virus. She opens the news on her phone and reads carefully. “This new virus is highly contagious,” one article reads. “In some cases, it can lead to death in a short time.”

Those words were like a sledgehammer hitting his heart. He felt suffocated by fear, but the only thing he could do was take care of Ji-hoo.

The night grew late, and Soo-jin prepared soup for Ji-hoo. She prayed silently that this food would give her son some energy. As she ladled the soup into a bowl, she heard footsteps outside. There was a crowd of people gathered in front of their house, whispering and screaming in fear.

“Flu, flu! It’s coming!” someone shouted.

Soo-jin immediately opened the window and saw a group of people panicking. “What’s going on?” she asked, trying to understand the situation.

“They say the flu has spread throughout the city!” a man shouted with a frightened face. “We have to hide! It’s worse than we thought!”

Soo-jin quickly closed the window, fear washing over her. She rushed back to Ji-hoo's side, trying to calm her own heart. However, the sound of screams and panicked footsteps continued to be heard from outside.

At the hospital, Joon-ho realizes that the situation is getting worse. They are receiving more infected patients, and the hospital is starting to become overwhelmed. “We need to open more treatment rooms,” he tells the medical team. “Otherwise, we will run out of space.”

As he makes his rounds, Joon-ho sees the sadness on the faces of patients and their families. Many of them are waiting for news of their loved ones. Joon-ho feels the pressure weighing on his shoulders. He is not only responsible for caring for the patients, but also for giving hope to the families in despair.

One by one, patients come in with increasingly severe symptoms. In the chaos, Joon-ho keeps reminding himself not to give up. “We can get through this. We have to believe in science,” he tells himself, but his heart is full of doubt.

That night, as the hospital lights flicker due to a temporary power outage, Joon-ho tries to calm his team down. “We have to stay focused. We’ve come this far. We have to find a solution,” he says, trying to lift their spirits.

On the other side of town, Soo-jin sits beside a sleeping Ji-hoo, hoping that tomorrow will be a better day. However, in her heart, anxiety and fear grow stronger. “God, please save my child,” she prays over and over again, as if it were a mantra for protection.

As the night deepens, news of the deadly flu continues to spread. On social media, people share information and stories of families being infected, adding to the fear in the hearts of the people. Joon-ho and the medical team continue to fight, but in the darkness, hope seems increasingly faint.

As dawn began to break, Soo-jin woke up. Ji-hoo looked weaker than before. She felt the coldness on her son's body and immediately touched Ji-hoo's forehead. "Oh no," she whispered, seeing how hot her son's body was.

Quickly, she grabbed her phone and searched for information on how to treat the flu. But at the same time, new news came in: the virus had spread to more areas. “What should I do?” she thought, despair filling her heart.

Joon-ho, on the other hand, tries not to let fear spread among his team. “We can’t stop. We have to keep finding ways to fight this virus. If we don’t, more lives will be lost,” he says, boosting everyone’s spirits.

But deep down, Joon-ho knows that they are fighting against time. With each passing day, more people are infected, and hope seems further away.

With increasing anxiety, Soo-jin decides to go to the hospital. “I have to get help for Ji-hoo,” she thinks. She quickly dresses and prepares herself to face the uncertain world outside.

As she exited the house, she felt the tense atmosphere around her. People were running around with frightened faces, and the latest news on the television kept repeating the rising death toll. “We have to go to the hospital immediately!” a woman shouted, and Soo-jin felt her heart tremble at the sound of panic.

Soo-jin runs as fast as she can to the hospital, her heart filled with hope and fear. Inside, she prays that Joon-ho will be able to help Ji-hoo. “Mommy will come, honey,” she whispers to herself, hoping that she can find a way back to save her child.

Chapter 2: Tensions Rise

Seoul is now a shadow of its former self. On the streets, the usual bustle has been replaced by panic and fear. People run, avoiding each other, as if the deadly virus can fly through the air. Televisions in homes broadcast breaking news about the spread of the virus in an emergency tone, creating a tense atmosphere that binds everyone in anxiety.

Han Soo-jin fought against the crowd, her steps hurried as she tried to reach the hospital. In her heart, anxiety grew as time became increasingly urgent. “Ji-hoo needs mom,” she thought over and over again. Each step felt heavy, as if there was a weight weighing her down. She looked around, the worried and frightened faces reflecting the same unease.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Soo-jin gasps for breath. The main doors are wide open, and a crowd of patients and their families fill the waiting area. The atmosphere inside is a mix of hope and despair. In the corner of the room, someone screams hysterically, “He’s not breathing! Help, hurry!” Cries and voices of help echo throughout the room, creating a more intense sense of dread.

In the treatment room, Dr. Lee Joon-ho is seen busy watching over the weak patients. He fights against the exhaustion that haunts him, but his spirit never dies. “We must not give up,” he whispers to himself. Every patient brought in is a new challenge, but he is determined to give his best.

One of the patients, a middle-aged man, lay there gasping for breath. Joon-ho immediately approached him. “How are you, sir?” he asked in a calm tone.

“This pain… is unbearable,” the man replied, his voice shaking.

“We’ll give you some painkillers right away,” Joon-ho promised. “Stay calm. We’ll take care of you.”

Every second that passed felt like a year. As Joon-ho finished his examination, a voice drifted through the crowd. “I’m looking for a doctor! My son is very sick!”

Joon-ho turned and saw Soo-jin running towards him, her face full of worry. He could see how tired and desperate she was. “Doctor! Help, Ji-hoo! He has a high fever and is coughing constantly!”

Joon-ho felt his heart flutter. “Take him to the pediatric ward,” he ordered quickly. “We’ll take care of him.”

Soo-jin follows Joon-ho's instructions, remembering how she had to fight for the doctor's attention amidst the crowd. They enter the pediatric ward, where several children lie weakly, filled with medical equipment and the eerie sound of monitors.

“Over here!” Joon-ho instructed the nurse. “Get the IV ready and give him some antipyretics. We need to get his fever down right away.”

Soo-jin stood by the bed, trembling as she looked at Ji-hoo who was slumped over. His small body looked so weak. “God, please save my son,” she thought, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.

Joon-ho works quickly, tending to Ji-hoo carefully. “Soo-jin, calm her down. Talk to her,” he pleads.

Soo-jin holds Ji-hoo’s hand, her voice shaking. “Honey, Mommy is here. You’re going to be okay. Mommy loves you, Ji-hoo.” She tries to reassure him, even as fear gnaws at her inside.

“This child’s forehead is very hot,” one of the nurses commented as they injected the medicine. “We have to monitor his condition every minute.”

Joon-ho nodded, feeling the burden of responsibility growing heavier. “We will do our best. Every second counts,” he replied firmly.

As the medicine took effect, Ji-hoo opened his eyes slightly, looking at his mother in confusion. “Mom?” he asked, his voice weak.

“Yes, honey. Mommy is here. You are strong, aren’t you?” Soo-jin tries to smile even though her heart is breaking.

Joon-ho keeps checking the monitor showing Ji-hoo’s condition. “We need to do more tests to determine the cause of her fever,” he tells the medical team.

As time passes, Ji-hoo's condition improves slightly. Her fever subsides, but Joon-ho knows that this is just the beginning of a much longer fight. They must find the cause of this virus in order to save more lives.

But outside, the atmosphere worsens. News of the deadly flu virus continues to spread, and the public becomes increasingly panicked. Joon-ho can hear the commotion outside, the sounds of screams and cries that engulf the hospital. It's as if everyone who comes to the hospital is hoping for a miracle, but the reality they face is death and loss.

“Dr. Lee!” Soo-hyun’s voice called from the entrance. “There’s a report of a new patient coming in from the southern district. They’re showing the same symptoms.”

“Quickly take them to the isolation room,” Joon-ho replied, trying to stay focused. “We can’t let this virus spread any further.”

The medical team moved quickly, trying to handle the situation that was getting out of control. Joon-ho decided to have a short briefing with his team. They gathered in the conference room, and the atmosphere was tense.

“We need to work together to stop the spread of this virus. People need to be told not to panic, but they also need to be vigilant,” Joon-ho began. “We need to conduct mass testing and provide accurate information to the public. Otherwise, we will lose control.”

“And we have to prepare the hospital for the worst,” Soo-hyun added. “We need to increase the number of beds and medical personnel.”

“I will contact the local government for support,” Joon-ho said. “We need all the help we can get.”

After the briefing, Joon-ho returns to Ji-hoo’s ward. He finds Soo-jin silent, sitting by her son’s bedside, staring blankly ahead. “Soo-jin,” he calls softly. “How is Ji-hoo doing now?”

“He’s… a little better,” Soo-jin replies, her voice soft. “But I feel like something’s wrong. This is more than just a cold, right?”

Joon-ho nodded. “Unfortunately, yes. We are still learning more about this virus. It is highly contagious and potentially fatal.”

Soo-jin felt her heart pounding. “What should I do?” she asked in desperation.

“All we can do now is provide the best care and make sure he stays calm,” Joon-ho replied. “We will do everything we can to save him.”

After some time, Ji-hoo woke up again, looking weakly at his mother's face. "Mom... I'm scared," he said.

“It’s okay, honey. Mommy is here. We’ll get through this together,” Soo-jin replied, trying to reassure her son even as tears welled up in her eyes.

As night begins to creep in, the atmosphere in the hospital becomes increasingly tense. The sounds of crying, screaming, and screaming dominate. Joon-ho tries to keep his team's spirits up, but the burden they carry becomes heavier.

“We need to remind the team that they are not alone,” he tells Soo-hyun. “If we can’t keep our spirits up, we’ll lose even more.”

“I’ll try,” Soo-hyun replied, trying to smile despite his tired face.

Outside, the bad news continued to spread. A report came on television saying that the virus had spread to other cities and caused casualties. People began running, trying to save themselves. Tensions were rising, and people were beginning to feel hopeless.

Soo-jin stared at the news with a pale face. “What will happen to Ji-hoo? Will we be okay? Will we be okay?” Soo-jin’s voice trembled as she looked away from the television screen and toward Joon-ho.

“Relax, Soo-jin,” Joon-ho says, trying to reassure her despite his own anxiety. “We’ll do our best to save Ji-hoo and the other patients. We have the best team here.”

Soo-jin nodded, but her eyes were still shining with fear. She couldn’t imagine losing Ji-hoo, the only reason she was alive after everything she had been through. “Mom will always be here, Ji-hoo. We’ll get through this together,” she whispered, trying to reassure him even as her heart shook with worry.

Meanwhile, Joon-ho receives a text message from the epidemiology team indicating that the virus has an unusual origin. “We need to do more research to understand how this virus spreads,” he thinks, realizing that he must immediately coordinate with the authorities.

Outside the hospital, the crowd grew restless. They flocked to seek information, some shouting for explanations. “What is happening with this virus?” a woman cried, her face streaked with tears. “Why are our children and our elderly victims?”

Joon-ho and Soo-hyun leave the hospital to explain to the public. Joon-ho tries to appear calm and confident amidst the panic. “We are doing our best to handle the situation. This virus is highly contagious, but we are trying our best to treat all the patients,” he says, trying to calm the people around him.

“What about the vaccine? When will we get the cure?” a man asked in a desperate tone.

"We are working with the authorities to find a solution. However, we ask for your patience. In such circumstances, maintaining hygiene and avoiding crowds is very important," Joon-ho explained firmly, hoping to provide a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.

After explaining, Joon-ho returned to Ji-hoo’s ward, where the nurse was tending to the other infected children. He looked at the pale, pained little faces, and Joon-ho’s heart felt heavy. “We have to do more,” he thought.

Soo-jin sits down next to Ji-hoo, who is now lying weaker than before. “Mom… I feel so tired,” Ji-hoo says softly.

“Try to get some rest, honey. Mommy will stay here,” Soo-jin replied, gently stroking Ji-hoo’s hair.

Joon-ho approaches them and checks on Ji-hoo. “We need to run a blood test to make sure there are no secondary infections. It might help us understand more about the disease,” he says, trying to stay focused.

Soo-jin nodded, though her heart felt heavy. “Will Ji-hoo be okay?” she asked hopefully.

“If we can find the exact cause and provide the right treatment, there is hope,” Joon-ho replied. “But we have to be prepared for any eventuality.”

After a while, the blood test was done. Joon-ho waited anxiously for the results. Inside, he felt increasingly pressured by the burden of responsibility he had to shoulder. He was not only treating Ji-hoo, but also dozens of other patients. In conditions like this, even the slightest mistake could be fatal.

That night, the hospital becomes increasingly chaotic. Patients continue to arrive, and the treatment rooms begin to fill up. The sounds of children crying and the screams of the elderly create an increasingly tense atmosphere. Joon-ho and his team work hard, but more and more lives are at risk.

Soo-jin was devastated by all of this. She prayed in her heart that Ji-hoo would recover soon. As she watched the doctors run from patient to patient, she realized how much of a struggle they were facing. “They are fighting for every life,” she thought, realizing that the medical team was the hope for many people.

In the infirmary, Ji-hoo wakes up from his sleep and looks at his mother with dull eyes. “Mom, am I going to die?” he asks softly.

"Do not love. Mom promised to take care of you,” Soo-jin answered, tears streaming down her cheeks. “We will fight together.”

Hearing his mother's words, Ji-hoo smiled weakly. "I want to play again," he said in a barely audible voice.

Joon-ho walks over and touches Soo-jin’s shoulder. “We’ll do our best to make her feel better, Soo-jin. We’ll watch every step of the way,” he says, trying to give her encouragement.

As midnight approaches, the atmosphere in the hospital grows increasingly tense. Joon-ho feels deep fatigue, but his passion for saving lives does not fade. “I can’t give up,” he says to himself.

However, as he walks back to Ji-hoo’s treatment room, he hears a commotion outside. “We can’t wait any longer! Our child needs attention now!” a man shouts.

Joon-ho comes out to calm the increasingly unruly crowd. “Please calm down! We will do our best for all the patients,” he says, trying to contain the tension.

But voices of discontent continue to emerge. “When will we get help? It’s been too long!” one woman shouted.

“Listen, we’re trying our best,” Joon-ho replied. “But we also need time to make sure everyone gets the right care.”

In the crowd, Soo-jin stood anxiously, feeling a weight on her heart. “What will happen?” she thought, feeling her worry gnawing at her.

Meanwhile, Joon-ho returns to the treatment room. He feels the burden of responsibility growing heavier, but he knows that he must continue to fight. “We can’t let this continue. We have to find a solution,” he mutters to himself.

After hours passed, Ji-hoo’s blood test results finally came back. Joon-ho examined the results carefully, his heart pounding. “We have to tell Soo-jin the results soon,” he thought, feeling the tension in every second.

When he entered the room, Soo-jin was reading a story to Ji-hoo. Seeing Joon-ho enter, she stopped and looked at him expectantly. “How is it, Doctor?”

“The test results show that Ji-hoo is infected with a rare type of virus. We will immediately provide the necessary treatment, but it will take time,” Joon-ho replied, trying to keep his tone calm.

Soo-jin felt panic creep into her. “What will happen to Ji-hoo?” she asked fearfully.

“We will do everything we can. But we also need to prepare for the worst,” Joon-ho explained. “I can’t promise anything, but we won’t give up.”

That night, Soo-jin tries to calm Ji-hoo down, even though fear continues to gnaw at her heart. Outside, the sound of commotion continues to be heard. Many people outside feel hopeless and desperate.

Meanwhile, Joon-ho tries to arrange the next steps with the medical team. “We have to work together to find out how this virus spreads,” he says. “Every detail could be the key to saving more lives.”

In the silence of the night, Soo-jin stays by Ji-hoo’s side, trying to create a sense of security amidst the chaos. “Mommy is always here for you, honey,” she whispers, her hope intact even as the situation grows more difficult.

In the conference room, Joon-ho discusses the steps with his team. “We need to find out where this virus came from and how to deal with it. If we can find the source, we might be able to control the spread,” he said.

The team members all nodded, inspired by Joon-ho's spirit. They knew how big the challenge was, but they also felt the need to come together to face this crisis.

"I will contact the authorities and ask for additional assistance. We also need to educate the public so they know how to protect themselves," Joon-ho said.

As Joon-ho exits the meeting room, he sees Soo-jin still sitting next to Ji-hoo. He feels a mixture of hope and fear. “We will fight,” he says to himself, determined to do everything he can for Ji-hoo and all the patients who depend on them.

With a strengthened determination, Joon-ho continues his task, hoping that every effort he makes can bring new hope amidst the darkness.

Chapter 3: Unexpected Terror

The atmosphere in the hospital is getting tense. The sound of ambulance sirens continues to buzz outside, while medical personnel struggle to handle the increasing number of patients. Joon-ho returns to Ji-hoo's treatment room, where Soo-jin is still sitting next to her son, her face showing exhaustion and anxiety.

“How is Ji-hoo?” Joon-ho asked, trying to give a reassuring smile.

“He’s still weak, but there’s hope. Mom will always be with you, Ji-hoo,” Soo-jin replied, kissing her son’s forehead.

In his heart, Joon-ho hopes that the steps they are taking will help save more lives. “We will closely monitor Ji-hoo’s condition. If there is any change, we will act immediately,” he said, affirming his commitment.

After a routine checkup, Joon-ho receives bad news from the epidemiology team. “Dr. Lee, there are new reports. The virus has spread to more areas, and there have been deaths reported in several other cities,” Soo-hyun reports, sounding worried.

“It’s getting worse. We need to inform the public immediately and strengthen safety protocols,” Joon-ho replied, feeling a pressure on his chest. “We can’t let this continue without taking proper action.”

He rushed to the briefing room, where all members of the medical team were gathered. “We need to speed up data collection to understand the pattern of the spread of this virus,” he said firmly. “We also need to prepare the hospital for a possible surge of more patients.”

“I will contact the public health center for support and further information,” Soo-hyun said, trying to show courage amidst the tense situation.

After the meeting, Joon-ho feels more focused. He knows that information is the key to resolving this situation. When he returns to Ji-hoo's treatment room, he finds Soo-jin still sitting intently, looking at her weak son.

“Doctor, I feel so worried,” Soo-jin said, tears welling in her eyes. “What will happen if Ji-hoo doesn’t recover?”

“Don’t worry, Soo-jin. We’ll do our best. We have to stay optimistic,” Joon-ho replied, trying to give her hope even though his heart was filled with the same fear.

The night is getting late, but the atmosphere in the hospital is not calm. New patients continue to arrive, and Joon-ho and his team continue to fight. Amid the chaos, there is one shocking news: a group of patients from the southern district are showing more severe symptoms than the others.

"Doctor, we need to follow up on that group of patients from the southern district immediately. They may be carrying a more dangerous strain of the virus," a nurse said.

Joon-ho nodded. “We can’t let this spread any further. Let’s check those patients and find out what happened,” he ordered firmly.

The medical team rushed to the isolation room where the patient from the southern district was being treated. Joon-ho felt his heart beating fast, trying to remember all the training he had undergone. In a situation like this, calmness was key.

In the isolation room, Joon-ho sees a group of weak patients lying down, some of whom are having difficulty breathing. The atmosphere inside is very tense, and the smell of antiseptic is mixed with the strong smell of medicine.

“Who is watching over this patient?” Joon-ho asked the nurse on duty.

“He’s been in critical condition since he arrived here. We’ve given him everything we can,” the nurse replied, her face looking tired.

Joon-ho approaches the first patient and begins checking their vital signs. “We need to move them to the intensive care unit immediately,” he says. “They are in very serious condition.”

The medical team worked quickly to move the patients, and Joon-ho couldn’t help but feel a sense of anxiety creeping into his mind. “If we don’t find the cause quickly, more lives will be lost,” he thought, feeling the burden of responsibility growing heavier.

Back in Ji-hoo’s ward, Joon-ho finds Soo-jin talking to a nurse. “How is Ji-hoo doing now?” he asks anxiously.

“He is showing signs of improvement, but we still need to monitor his body condition,” the nurse replied.

“Thank you,” Joon-ho says, relieved even as the situation outside grows more desperate. He knows that while there is hope for Ji-hoo, the challenges they face are greater.

That night, the bad news continues to spread. The virus is spreading further, and several areas of Seoul have been declared quarantine zones. Joon-ho returns to the briefing room to discuss the next steps with his team.

"We need to implement stricter preventive measures immediately. We have to tell people to stay home and avoid crowds," Joon-ho said.

“What about a vaccine? Is there any hope of developing something that could help?” Soo-hyun asked, his face looking worried.

“It will take time, but we need to coordinate with scientists and researchers to find a solution. Right now, proper treatment is the most important thing,” Joon-ho replied, trying to provide reassurance amid the uncertainty.

As they discuss their next steps, Joon-ho can’t shake the feeling that something bigger is happening. This virus is not only dangerous, but it’s also having a far-reaching impact on society.

In the dark of night, Soo-jin sits beside Ji-hoo, gently stroking his hair. “Mommy will always be with you, honey. We will fight this together,” she says, trying to reassure him.

Ji-hoo opened his eyes, looking at his mother weakly. “Mom, I feel confused. Why did all this happen?” he asked, his voice barely audible.

“This is all a test, Ji-hoo. We have to be strong and not give up. Mom will fight for you,” Soo-jin replied, trying to calm his heart.

Meanwhile, outside the hospital, a crowd continued to gather, creating a tense atmosphere. Some people began to demonstrate, demanding an explanation from the authorities. “We can’t wait any longer! We want to know what happened!” shouted a man in front of the hospital.

Joon-ho felt uneasy seeing the situation outside. “We have to give a clear explanation to the public immediately. They have the right to know,” he told his team.

He came back out, trying to explain. “We are doing our best to handle the situation. This virus is highly contagious, but we are working hard to treat all patients. Please be patient, we will update you soon,” Joon-ho tried to calm the crowd.

However, the situation is getting out of control. Some people start shouting, expressing anger and dissatisfaction. Joon-ho feels caught between professional obligations and public panic.

“This is not the time to panic! We need to support each other,” he shouted, hoping to defuse the tension.

But the noise grew louder, and Joon-ho felt as if he were fighting an inescapable tide. “We have to get back inside,” he told the medical team, feeling pressured by the situation developing outside.

Back inside, Joon-ho feels the pressure growing. “We have to prepare for the worst. If the public doesn’t get clear information, dissatisfaction will continue to grow,” he tells his team.

“We have to find a solution soon,” Soo-hyun replied. “If we can’t explain this situation well, we will lose the public’s trust.”

In Ji-hoo’s ward, Soo-jin feels hopeless. She can’t help but feel the fear of losing her son. “God, please take care of Ji-hoo,” she prays. She knows the situation is getting worse, and hope is dwindling.

Meanwhile, Joon-ho tries not to let his anxiety get to him. He knows he has to stay focused on his task. “We’ll fight until the end,” he tells himself, determined not to give in to the uncertainty.

That night, Joon-ho and his team worked non-stop. They examined each patient, collected data, and formulated steps to control the spread of the virus. Inside, Joon-ho felt proud to be part of this team, but the burden of responsibility continued to loom over his mind.

Soo-jin continues to watch over Ji-hoo, hoping that every passing second will bring a miracle. “Mom will always be here for you, Ji-hoo,” she says, trying to give him encouragement even though her heart feels broken.

With a spirit that continues to fight, Joon-ho continues his work, hoping that all their efforts will not be in vain. In the gripping darkness, the hope for the coming of a new light still burns in their hearts.

Joon-ho continues his duties at the hospital, trying his best to treat the influx of patients. In the midst of his busy schedule, he receives a text message from the epidemiology team informing him that they have identified a potential source of the virus. The message states that the virus may have come from contact with certain infected animals, but there is no solid evidence yet.

“This is good news, but we must remain vigilant,” Joon-ho thought. If the source of the virus can be traced, then there is hope of stopping further spread.

He returned to the briefing room to deliver the news to his team. “Team, we have new information about the potential source of the virus. We must immediately conduct further investigations and educate the public about the dangers,” Joon-ho said enthusiastically.

Soo-hyun noted the information and immediately coordinated with the communications team to convey the message to the public. "We have to make sure that everyone understands the risks and knows what to do to protect themselves," he said.

Meanwhile, in Ji-hoo’s treatment room, Soo-jin feels hope starting to grow. Ji-hoo is showing some improvement, but Soo-jin is still worried. “We have to keep praying,” she whispers, holding her son’s cold hand.

Joon-ho follows Ji-hoo to the ward to check on him. He sees Soo-jin sitting next to her son, her face tired but still hopeful. “How is he?” Joon-ho asks, acting professionally even as his heart is moved by sadness.

“He’s showing signs of improvement, but I’m afraid it’s only temporary,” Soo-jin replied, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.

“Any progress, no matter how small, is a positive step. We will continue to monitor her condition and provide the best care,” Joon-ho tried to reassure Soo-jin.

Outside the hospital, a crowd of people were still gathered, waiting for updates on the condition of the patients and the precautionary measures being taken. Some people began shouting for more information, creating tension among them.

“Have we done enough to do what we can?” Joon-ho thought, feeling the burden of responsibility growing heavier. However, he knew that there was no other choice but to keep fighting.

The night wore on, and Joon-ho felt fatigue creep up on him. He tried to ignore it and focus on the task at hand. In times like these, he knew that his team was relying on him to lead.

As time passes, Joon-ho finds that other patients in the hospital are also showing similar symptoms. “We have to speed up the process of collecting data from each patient to understand the pattern of the spread of this virus,” he orders the medical team.

In the isolation room, he checked each patient one by one, making sure that all precautions were strictly followed. “We can’t let this situation get worse. Every second counts,” he muttered to himself, determined to fight for every life.

Amidst all the busyness, Soo-jin still stays by Ji-hoo’s side, trying to give him support and encouragement. She sings soft songs, hoping her mother’s voice can lift her son’s spirits. “Mommy is here for you, honey,” she says, holding Ji-hoo’s hand tightly.

Hours later, when Joon-ho returns to the infirmary, he finds Soo-jin still singing. “Ji-hoo, we’ll get through this soon. I promise,” she whispers, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Joon-ho checks on Ji-hoo and feels hope starting to grow inside him. “We have to stay optimistic, Soo-jin. Every little step towards recovery is something to celebrate,” he says, trying to calm them both down.

Suddenly, the sound of an ambulance siren is heard outside, and Joon-ho runs out to receive a new patient. Outside, the atmosphere is getting more and more crowded, and the medical staff are struggling to handle the influx of patients. Joon-ho immediately helps move the patient to the treatment room.

“Get ready! We’re moving them to the isolation room!” he shouted, directing the medical team to work quickly. Every second counted, and Joon-ho knew they couldn’t afford to lose another life.

After a few hours of struggling, Joon-ho felt his body getting tired. He looked for a moment to rest, but as he sat in the break room, his phone rang. It was a call from the public health center.

“Dr. Lee, we need an update on the patients being treated at your hospital. There are reports that the virus may have spread to other areas,” the voice on the other end of the line sounded anxious.

“We are collecting data, and we will send you an updated report soon. We are also doing our best to monitor each patient’s condition,” Joon-ho replied, feeling increasingly pressured by the responsibility.

After ending the call, Joon-ho felt the pressure building. He knew that the public was waiting for the latest information, and they were all counting on the medical team to provide hope in the midst of this crisis.

“This isn’t just about saving Ji-hoo, but also all the patients here,” he thought, determined not to give up.

Back in Ji-hoo’s ward, Joon-ho finds Soo-jin talking to a nurse. “Her condition is stable, but we will continue to monitor her closely,” the nurse says.

“Thank you,” Soo-jin replied, feeling a little relieved even though all the fears that had been eating away at her heart were still lingering.

Joon-ho approaches them and gives them a reassuring smile. “We have to stay optimistic, Soo-jin. Every day is a new chance to fight,” he says.

But as he looked at Ji-hoo, he felt a growing burden. “We can’t let this virus continue to spread. We have to find a solution,” he thought, feeling his spirit grow stronger.

That night, Joon-ho returns to work with his team. They examine each patient and try to find a pattern in the spread of the virus. One by one, they collect data to figure out where the virus came from and how to stop it.

At midnight, bad news came again. “Dr. Lee, there is a report that a patient who was recently hospitalized has died. He was infected with the same virus,” reported a nurse with a pale face.

Joon-ho felt his heart suffocating. “We have to notify the authorities and inform the public immediately,” he said, feeling uneasy. “Every death is a failure for us.”

As he led an emergency meeting to discuss next steps, the atmosphere in the room was tense. “We need to immediately evaluate all the patients and find out the possible causes of death. We can’t let this happen again,” he said.

The medical team works hard to gather information and come up with a plan of action. Joon-ho knows they have to act quickly before the situation gets worse.

In Ji-hoo’s treatment room, Soo-jin waits anxiously. She feels the tension in the air and hopes that her son will recover soon. “Mom will always be there for you, Ji-hoo. We will fight together,” she whispers, praying for God to give her a miracle.

But as she looked at her son, she felt a deep sense of dread. “What if we can’t save Ji-hoo? What if he’s next?” she thought, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Outside the hospital, the crowd grew louder, and the voices of discontent grew louder. Joon-ho felt pressure from all sides. “We have to give a clear and honest explanation to the public. They have a right to know about this situation,” he told his team.

That night, Joon-ho and his team worked non-stop, trying to find a solution to stop the spread of the virus. In the back of his mind, he knew that every second was precious, and they couldn't let the uncertainty take over.

In Ji-hoo’s treatment room, Soo-jin tries to encourage her son. “We’ll fight, Ji-hoo. Mom believes you can get through this,” she whispers, trying to light a flame of hope in their hearts.

With determination and fighting spirit, Joon-ho and his team continue their struggle amidst unexpected terror. Although the path they take is full of challenges, the hope for a new light never dies in their hearts.

Chapter 4: Fighting Uncertainty

The next day, the atmosphere at the hospital is still very tense. Joon-ho and his team are working hard to deal with the increasing number of patients. They have implemented stricter preventive measures, but the situation outside the hospital is getting worse. News of the spread of the virus spreads quickly on social media, adding to the anxiety among the public.

In the briefing room, Joon-ho sits down with the epidemiology team to discuss the next steps. “We must immediately evaluate all infected patients and find out the possible origin of this virus. This is an important step to prevent further spread,” Joon-ho says firmly.

Soo-hyun, who was in charge of collecting data, nodded in agreement. “We have started collecting information from patients in the isolation ward. However, there is one big problem: many patients are unwilling to provide information about their medical history.”

"This is very dangerous. We cannot help them if they are not honest," added the nurse on duty.

“Tell them that their safety depends on the information they provide. If we don’t know where this virus came from, we won’t be able to protect others,” Joon-ho stressed.

In Ji-hoo’s treatment room, Soo-jin feels the pressure building. She looks at her son lying weakly, and her heart fills with pain. “You have to get up, honey. Mom believes in you,” she says, hoping her gentle voice will give Ji-hoo encouragement.

A nurse enters the room and observes Ji-hoo’s condition. “We are trying our best to take care of all the patients. If there is any change, we will let you know right away,” she says calmly.

Soo-jin nodded, though her anxiety did not go away. She knew that outside the hospital, people were gripped by uncertainty and fear. Many were beginning to doubt the hospital’s ability to handle the situation.

Back in the briefing room, Joon-ho learns that new cases have been detected in the surrounding area. “Dr. Lee, we’ve received reports that several patients in more distant districts are also showing similar symptoms. We need to notify the authorities immediately,” a staff member reports.

“We can’t wait any longer. Let’s prepare a report and hold a press conference. We have to give the public the latest information,” Joon-ho ordered.

Soon after, they drafted a report and coordinated with the communications team to arrange a press conference. Joon-ho knew that this was an important step to ease the tension among the public.

As the press conference began, many reporters gathered outside the hospital, waiting eagerly. Joon-ho stood at the podium, facing the crowd. “Thank you for coming. We understand the public’s concerns about the spread of the virus. We want to let you know that we are doing everything possible to handle the situation,” he said in a firm voice.

He explained the preventive measures that have been taken, educating the public about the importance of maintaining health and avoiding crowds. "We ask everyone to stay home if there is no urgent need. This is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones," Joon-ho continued.

“Is there a short-term solution to this problem? What can people do to protect themselves?” asked a reporter.

“The most important step is to wash your hands regularly and wear a mask. We are also trying to find a way to control this virus by conducting further research,” Joon-ho replied, trying to provide hope amid the crisis.

After the press conference was over, Joon-ho felt a little relieved. Although the situation was still critical, he hoped that the information they had conveyed could ease the public's worries. However, deep down, he felt that there was something deeper that they had to do.

Back at the hospital, she finds Soo-jin sitting next to Ji-hoo, holding her hand tightly. “Mom, how are you?” Ji-hoo asks in a weak voice.

“Mom is fine, honey. What matters is you. I’m sure you’ll recover soon,” Soo-jin replied, trying to be encouraging even as her anxiety gnawed at her.

After checking on Ji-hoo’s condition, Joon-ho is relieved to see some progress. “We will continue to take the best care of him, Soo-jin. Every day is a step towards recovery,” he says, trying to reassure them both.

However, as he stepped out, a message suddenly appeared on his phone. It was a message from the epidemiology team informing him that several patients infected with the virus had disappeared from the hospital. “What happened? We have to find them!” Joon-ho thought, feeling worried.

He immediately called his team and explained the situation. “We must immediately track down the missing patients. If they are outside and infected, they could spread the virus further,” he ordered.

The medical team works quickly to track down the patients. Joon-ho feels the burden of responsibility growing heavier, but he knows that they must act quickly to protect the public.

In the isolation room, other patients begin to show more severe symptoms. Joon-ho and his team must act quickly to treat them. “We need to increase intensive care here. If we don’t act now, we could lose more lives,” Joon-ho instructs, trying to keep calm amidst the chaos.

Meanwhile, Soo-jin can't help but feel anxious. He felt hopeless looking at Ji-hoo who was lying weak. “You have to get up, darling. Mom will always be here for you,” he whispered, hoping for a miracle to happen.

Days pass, and the situation becomes more critical. Joon-ho receives reports that missing patients have been found in the slums, without medical care. “They can’t be left outside, we have to get them to the hospital immediately,” he says, determined to save every life.

As the medical team moved to evacuate the patients, Joon-ho couldn’t ignore the pain in his heart. “Why are people forced to live in conditions like this? We have to do more for our society,” he thought, feeling moved to fight harder.

As new patients arrive at the hospital, Joon-ho and his team work around the clock to care for them. “Every patient is a life we have to save,” he tells the team, trying to cheer them on amidst the exhaustion that has gripped them.

In Ji-hoo’s treatment room, Soo-jin continues to pray. She believes that her son can recover, even though the situation outside is getting more tense. “We will fight with you, Ji-hoo. Mom won’t let you give up,” she whispers, hoping that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Outside, public discontent is growing. News of the hospital’s inability to handle the situation spreads, and demonstrations begin. Joon-ho feels caught in a difficult situation. “We have to give a clear explanation to the public. If they don’t believe us, we won’t be able to save more lives,” he tells the team.

That night, when Joon-ho returned to the hospital, he felt a deep sense of exhaustion. He sat for a moment, reflecting on everything that had happened. “We have to keep fighting, no matter how hard it is,” he thought, reigniting the fire within him.

As he continued his duties, more bad news came. “Dr. Lee, there is a report that a newly admitted patient in the isolation room is showing more severe symptoms. We need to take action quickly,” a nurse reported.

Joon-ho felt adrenaline coursing through his body. “Get him to intensive care immediately. We have to fight for every life,” he said excitedly.

With determination and fighting spirit, Joon-ho and his team continue to fight amidst the uncertainty. They know that every action they take is a step towards new hope amidst the darkness.

Joon-ho walked quickly into the intensive care unit, where a patient who had just shown worsening symptoms was being transferred. Behind him, nurses and doctors rushed to prepare the necessary medical equipment. The situation in the hospital had turned into a constant emergency, as if there was no time for them to catch their breath.

When Joon-ho entered the treatment room, the patient, a man in his 40s, looked pale and was gasping for breath. The virus had clearly attacked his lungs aggressively. "We have to act quickly. Start the ventilator," Joon-ho ordered.

He stands by the patient’s bed, gazing at the man with a heavy heart. In every face he sees, he feels a great responsibility. Every person who comes to this hospital is looking for hope, looking for a longer life, and Joon-ho knows that they are depending on him—and the medical team—to provide that hope.

"Soo-hyun, immediately coordinate with the lab to get the latest test results on this patient," Joon-ho said as he stared at the monitor showing the patient's decreasing oxygen levels.

Soo-hyun immediately ran out to make sure the blood sample was delivered immediately. There was no time to wait, every second felt like a matter of life and death.

In Ji-hoo's hospital room, Soo-jin faithfully waits by her son's bedside. Her face looks tired, but her determination to stay by Ji-hoo's side never wavers. Outside the hospital window, the afternoon sunlight begins to fade, signaling the arrival of the dark night.

"Mommy will always be there for you, honey," she whispered softly, looking at Ji-hoo who seemed calmer, even though his body was still gripped by a high fever. Ji-hoo's breathing was heavy, every breath a struggle.

Soon after, Joon-ho enters the room. He wants to make sure that there is no sudden change in Ji-hoo's condition. Despite his increasing workload, he still feels a deep concern for the boy—not just as a patient, but also because of the emotional bond he has developed with Soo-jin.

“How is she?” Joon-ho asked calmly, trying not to show his anxiety in front of Soo-jin.

“There’s no significant change,” Soo-jin replies, holding Ji-hoo’s hand. “He’s still struggling, but I can feel it. He’s strong, he’ll get through this.”

Joon-ho nodded, then checked Ji-hoo’s vitals. “We’ll continue to monitor him closely. Don’t worry, Soo-jin, we’re doing our best for Ji-hoo,” he said, trying to reassure her.

But deep down, Joon-ho knows that time is running out. The virus is moving so fast, attacking the lungs and vital organs, that there is little that can be done except provide intensive care. Meanwhile, the vaccine or antidote they need is still far from reach.

“If only we could have found the origin of this virus sooner,” he thought to himself, fighting back feelings of frustration.

That night, Soo-jin remains guarded by her son’s side, not moving for a second. Outside, the city begins to be enveloped in a silent darkness, punctuated only by the sound of ambulance sirens that continue to arrive. The city begins to feel like a war zone, where people fight not with weapons, but against an invisible enemy—a deadly virus that haunts every corner.

In another corner of the hospital, Joon-ho and Soo-hyun are back in the emergency meeting room with the epidemiology team. “We need to speed up the analysis of the data we have,” Joon-ho says, opening his laptop. “We need to know how this virus spreads, where it came from, and how it mutates.”

Soo-hyun begins to explain the preliminary results they got from the lab. "The lab results show that this virus has undergone several mutations that are accelerating its spread. We also found traces of proteins that are similar to certain animal respiratory viruses, but it is not yet confirmed."

“This is a more deadly virus than we thought,” another doctor added. “The mutations make it harder to treat, even for strong immune systems.”

Joon-ho stared at his laptop screen seriously. “We have to find the source of this mutation. Have we been able to trace the history of the first infected patient?”

Soo-hyun replied with a worried tone, “This is the problem. Many patients refuse to provide complete information about their social interactions before being infected. Maybe because of fear or distrust. This slows down our investigation.”

“If we don’t find the source soon, this could become a bigger disaster,” Joon-ho felt the situation was getting critical. “We need to take a more persuasive approach, whatever it takes.”

The meeting ends in frustration, but Joon-ho remains focused. He can't give up now. Too many lives are at stake.

Meanwhile, outside the hospital, things were getting chaotic. Disgruntled residents began to gather, demanding more explanation from the government about the steps being taken to deal with the virus. The atmosphere grew increasingly tense as news of the rising death toll began to spread.

"Why aren't they doing anything? What is the government doing?" shouted a resident in the crowd.

Inside the hospital, Joon-ho could hear the sound of the demonstration getting louder in the distance. "The pressure from outside is getting worse. We have to come up with a solution soon, or this hospital could become a target for chaos," he thought.

But even as tensions outside continue to rise, inside the hospitals, a more urgent situation is brewing. The intensive care system is reaching capacity, and medical teams are increasingly overwhelmed.

Joon-ho once again leads his medical team with unwavering determination. They come face to face with more and more patients showing severe symptoms. Some of them arrive late, already in critical condition.

“The ventilators are full, we have to find another solution for this patient!” shouted a doctor.

“We can’t keep using the same method. We need to find alternatives,” Joon-ho thought out loud. He knew that ventilators and medicines were running low, and this crisis needed more than conventional medical solutions.

“We have to prioritize patients based on their severity,” he added, instructing his team. “Every life matters, but we have to make tough decisions.”

The medical team continues the treatment with an unyielding spirit. Amidst the chaos and exhaustion, they are still fighting to save every life that can be saved. But they know that this virus will not wait; time is running out.

In the infirmary, Soo-jin was still standing guard beside Ji-hoo. Her eyes were starting to feel heavy from exhaustion, but she couldn’t let herself fall asleep. In her heart, Soo-jin kept hoping, kept praying, that Ji-hoo would survive.

“Mommy will always be here, Ji-hoo,” she whispered softly, kissing her son’s forehead. Even in the silence of the night, that hope still burned in her heart.

However, as the night progresses, Soo-jin hears Ji-hoo’s coughing getting louder. She immediately stands up, panicked, and calls the nurse. “Help Ji-hoo, help him! He’s coughing worse!”

The nurse immediately came and checked Ji-hoo, then ran out to call the doctor. At that moment, Soo-jin felt the greatest fear of her life. “What will happen to my son? I can’t lose him.”

A few minutes later, Joon-ho arrived with the medical team. They immediately checked Ji-hoo's condition, and Joon-ho's face looked serious. "We have to get him to the intensive care unit immediately," he ordered.

Soo-jin could only watch in fear as the medical team carried Ji-hoo away. Tears streamed down her cheeks. “Ji-hoo, hang in there. Mom can’t lose you.”

In the intensive care unit, Joon-ho and his team rush to stabilize Ji-hoo's condition. His breathing is getting more labored, a sign that the virus has attacked more aggressively. Time seems to slow down, as if every second is a life-and-death struggle.

“Don’t give up, Ji-hoo. You have to hold on,” Joon-ho whispered to himself, as his hands moved quickly to make sure all the equipment was working properly.

Outside, Soo-jin waits with a broken heart, but still hopes that her son will get through this crisis.

Chapter 5: Light at the End of the Tunnel

That day, the hospital was filled with an invisible tension, despite signs of improvement. News of Ji-hoo’s recovery after the plasma therapy spread like the wind. For some, it was a glimmer of hope; for others, it was a small miracle amidst the never-ending calamity. In the ward, Soo-jin sat beside her son, holding his hand tightly.

"Ji-hoo, Mama's here. You've gotten stronger," Soo-jin said softly, though her voice was still trembling with fear that had not completely disappeared.

Ji-hoo's previously closed eyes slowly began to open. Although his body still looked weak, there was a spark of life in his gaze that gave Soo-jin a glimmer of hope. "Mom..." Ji-hoo murmured, his voice hoarse but clear. It was the first word that had come out of his mouth in days.

Soo-jin held back tears. For her, this was a miracle she never imagined would come. She hugged her son gently, kissing his forehead. "You'll be okay, honey. Mommy is always with you."

Joon-ho entered the room with slow steps. Seeing Ji-hoo starting to regain consciousness, a small smile appeared on his face. “Ji-hoo, you did great. You fought really well,” Joon-ho said.

Soo-jin turns to Joon-ho, her eyes full of gratitude. “Thank you, doctor. Thank you for saving my child.”

But even as Ji-hoo’s situation improves, Joon-ho knows that their fight is not over. The virus is still there, spreading rapidly, and many other patients are still struggling on the edge of life and death. Outside the hospital, Seoul is not entirely free from chaos. More and more people are being infected, and pressure from the public on the government and medical teams is growing.

“We haven’t completely won yet,” Joon-ho says, his voice flat but sure. “But this is the first step. We have to keep fighting, not just for Ji-hoo, but for everyone out there.”

Outside the hospital, the situation is increasingly dire. Quarantine measures in some areas are collapsing, and the government is struggling to contain the chaos caused by mass panic. People are trying to leave the city, crowding main roads, adding to the chaos amid the threat of the virus still spreading.

On television screens installed in hospital waiting rooms, news about the situation in the city continues to play. Reporters report on the situation on the streets that is increasingly out of control. In some places, people have even attacked medical centers, demanding access to vaccines that are still in development or looking for ways to escape the red zone.

“I don’t know how long we can hold out,” says one of the nurses sitting next to Soo-jin. “This city is like a time bomb ready to explode at any moment.”

Soo-jin looks at the screen with anxiety. Even though Ji-hoo is getting better, the fear of the threat outside the hospital continues to haunt her mind. What if this mess gets worse? What if they can't get out of here safely?

But amidst the fear, Soo-jin finds new strength. Ji-hoo has survived a deadly virus, and now he must find a way to protect his child from other threats out there.

“We have to survive, no matter what,” Soo-jin murmurs softly, more to herself than anyone around her.

Meanwhile, Joon-ho and his medical team are hard at work in the lab, trying to speed up the development of the plasma-based therapy that saved Ji-hoo. Every day, they face new challenges—a mutating virus, worsening patients, and pressure from the government and society.

“We need to increase plasma production as quickly as possible,” Joon-ho said, reviewing data collected by his team. “It’s not a long-term solution, but it could buy us the time we need to find a more effective antidote.”

But it wasn’t just a race against time. The chaos outside the hospital was starting to seep inside, disrupting their workflow. Some nurses and medical staff were starting to fall ill, exhausted after weeks of non-stop work.

Joon-ho knows that they can't hold out much longer if the situation outside the hospital gets worse. They need help, and they need it now.

On the fifth day since Ji-hoo started to improve, Joon-ho receives an urgent call from the government. They have decided to send in military troops to guard the hospital and help suppress the riots in the city. While the decision is controversial, Joon-ho realizes that this may be the only way to prevent a total collapse.

“We will provide protection around the hospital,” a military official said on the phone. “But you must finish developing the therapy soon. Time is running out.”

Joon-ho nodded. “We will do our best. But we need more resources to produce plasma in large quantities.”

“It’s being arranged. Stay focused on healing the patient. We’ll handle the rest.”

Outside, the mood began to change. Soldiers began arriving, securing the area around the hospital and controlling the crowds trying to enter. Although the atmosphere was still tense, the military presence provided a sense of security for the medical staff and patients inside the hospital.

Ji-hoo is getting better every day. He can now sit up in his bed, although he is still weak. Soo-jin never leaves his side, making sure her son has everything he needs.

“Mom, when can we go home?” Ji-hoo asked in a low voice.

Soo-jin smiled, though her heart was still filled with worry. “Soon, honey. Soon we’ll be home.”

But behind that smile, Soo-jin knows that they are not completely safe. Even though the virus inside Ji-hoo is starting to come under control, the threat out there is still very real. Seoul is still in the grip of fear, and no one knows when it will end.

A few weeks later, thanks to the hard work of Joon-ho and the medical team, plasma therapy began to be mass-produced and distributed to other hospitals across the city. While not perfect, the therapy has been successful in saving many lives and slowing the spread of the virus.

The city of Seoul is slowly recovering from the crisis. Although many are lost and injured, there is new hope shining amidst the darkness. Ji-hoo, now healed, returns home with his mother with deep gratitude.

As they leave the hospital, Soo-jin looks up at the clear sky, hoping that the worst of the storm has passed. Even though the world around her has yet to fully heal, there is a newfound confidence in her that as long as they are together, they can get through whatever comes.

And at the end of this dark tunnel, there is finally light.

Epilogue

A month after the great chaos that rocked Seoul, things are slowly starting to return to normal. The deadly virus that nearly destroyed the city is starting to be controlled thanks to plasma therapy and tireless medical efforts. Even so, the scars are still clearly visible in every corner of the city. Destroyed buildings, overcrowded hospitals, and thousands of lives lost have left traces that are not easily forgotten.

At the hospital where Ji-hoo is being treated, the atmosphere has changed drastically. The corridors that were once filled with sirens and screams are now quiet, even though there are still patients recovering from the virus. The remaining medical staff walk with a slightly lighter step, though the fatigue still radiates from their faces.

Ji-hoo, now fully recovered, stands in front of the hospital doors with Soo-jin, ready to return home. The boy looks healthier than ever, though there is a faint fear lingering behind his innocent smile. Soo-jin, on the other hand, looks up at the clear sky with mixed feelings.

“Mom, we can finally go home,” Ji-hoo said in an excited voice.

Soo-jin turned, smiling softly. “Yes, honey. We can finally go home.” But behind that smile, there was a sadness she couldn’t shake. They had survived, but so many others had lost everything. And though the storm had passed, Soo-jin knew that their world had changed forever.

As they stepped out of the hospital, the cool autumn wind blew gently, bringing a sense of freshness after so many gray days. The streets outside seemed quieter, as if the entire city was still trying to recover from the nightmare that had just ended.

Ji-hoo holds his mother’s hand tightly, while Soo-jin looks ahead, staring at the long road ahead of them to rebuild their shattered lives. Around them, people are coming together again, helping each other. A society that was once divided is now united in grief, but also in a slowly growing hope.

Inside the hospital, Joon-ho stands at the window, watching the city begin to awaken. Though the exhaustion and stress of the past weeks still linger, there’s a sense of relief rising in his chest. He knows that their fight isn’t over—the virus will likely continue to be a threat, and they must remain vigilant. But for now, there’s a moment to breathe.

“Seoul will rise again,” he murmured softly, reassuring himself. He turned and began walking down the silent corridor, back towards the lab where all the research on the virus was still going on. Even though the world outside was slowly recovering, he knew that the war against the virus was not truly over.

A few weeks later, Ji-hoo and Soo-jin are back home. Their apartment is still a mess, as if it was abandoned in a hurry. But for them, it is a little haven that marks the beginning of a new life. They begin to put away their clutter, erasing the traces of the chaos that occurred over the past few weeks.

“Mom, everything will be okay, right?” Ji-hoo asked as he tidied up his toys that were scattered on the floor.

Soo-jin paused, looking at her son. “Yes, honey. Everything will be okay,” she replied with conviction. The words, though simple, were a promise to herself that no matter what, they would keep moving forward.

Outside their apartment window, the sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with hues of orange and red. It was a beautiful dusk—a dusk that signaled the end of a long day, but also the beginning of a new life.

And though the storm has passed, Soo-jin knows that every step forward will be colored by the memory of those days of fear. But she also knows that they have learned something very important—that in the midst of a dark world, there is always hope. And for that hope, they will keep going, no matter how difficult the path maybe.
