Elodie Lily White is one of the three White siblings. There is her older sister Marsha and younger brother Peter. All three siblings are gifted in ways unfathomable to simple minded.
"You can't possibly think that sending us to an academy is good idea mother." Elodie argues. "What if someone figures us out? You know Peter struggles to control himself ." Elodie adds "Well then you lot best be careful then hmm." Her mother replies in a mocking tone." Listen Elodie you may not be the oldest but I know you will protect your siblings no matter what, so I hold no worry in my heart. Now finish packing your bags for the morning and then come down for supper, your new headmaster shall be attending. " He is coming here, I swear you wish me and my siblings nothing but grief." Elodie huffs out in disappointment
Elodie stomps her way down the hall to her small brightly lit room. She traces her fingers across her light blue wall as she paces anxiously staring at her packed bag. She had hoped to be unpacking that bag right now thinking that her mother might have come to her senses. Sadly Elodie's pleas remained unanswered.
"Elodie mother has called us to supper please wash up before coming to the table we have first impressions to make. " Marsha pulled white cardigan across her torso crossing her arms as if to lock it in place. She strolled down the hallway to the kitchen her wavy hip length brown hair swaying with each step. How could her sister be so okay with everything, did she know something Elodie did not. Elodie rushed into the bathroom washing her hands and gazing at herself in the mirror. She unraveled her brown braids and fluffed her long wavy hair in a unruly manner. She then puffed out a sigh of discontent. She did her best to make herself unpresentable for guest. Her brown ankle boots clacked against the hardwood as she made her way into the dining room.
She stepped into to the dining area and sat in her usual spot only this time instead of her sister Marsha being next to her a stranger took her place. Elodie noticed a small black leather book placed in between her and the strangers empty plate. "We waited for you Elodie." Peter spoke gleefully. She glanced in his direction. "Thank you Peter." Elodie muttered "I'm so sorry for the wait along with her appearance. Elodie has always been a bit of a handful." Elodie's mother glared at her disapprovingly. "It is quite alright. I am use to dealing with misbehaved children in my line of work. He commented through his thick slat and pepper mustache. He glances at Elodie and her siblings with bushy furrowed eyebrows.
Elodie then goes to serve herself some of the mouth watering chicken stew that sat at the center of the table. Just as she begin to get a good scoop her mother smacks her hand violently. So much so that the spoon she had in hand flung stew in the direction of the headmaster. As the hot stew landed on him. The headmaster lurched upwards out of his seat knocking it to the ground. Elodie could not help but chuckle at the situation. In all the commotion no one noticed Marsha snatched the small leather book and pulled it into her cardigan. Marsha pulled her cardigan tighter making sure to hold the book in place. Marsha then suddenly spoke. " Elodie that is no way to treat a guest. I shall show our new headmaster to the washroom." Marsha mentions scolding Elodie. Marsha stands from her chair holding her arms close to her chest as she strides down the hallway the washroom is in. "Thank you young lady, your siblings could learn or thing or two from you." The headmaster huffs out. He then follows Marsha down the hall. He enters the wash room and shuts the door behind him.
Marsha rushes into Elodie's room sitting on her bed pulling out the small black book. She flips through the pages swiftly until she stumbles upon a page that states, "Twenty thousand dollars to Penelope for the sale of her 3 children Marsha, Elodie and Peter White ." Hot wet tears stream down Marsha's face she wipes them away as quickly as the come for she knows she has no time for tears. She composes herself fully and exits the room. She then walks down the hall sits at the dining table. Marsha then subtly tosses the book onto the floor by the headmasters recently picked up chair. He returns then notices the book and swiftly picks it up before taking his seat at the table.
Hours have passed, supper has ended and night has fallen. Marsha exited her room after putting on clothes that would help combat the chilly England air that persists even in spring. She then grabs her packed bag and exits her room. She awakens her siblings one by one instructing them to get dressed for the chilly weather and meet her outside the front door quietly. Minutes go by and finally her siblings emerge from the door." Marsha it simply can not be time to leave, it is barely dawn." Peter whines. " We aren't going to that school we will surely be found out, so we are leaving for our own journey right now." Marsha states confidently even though she is wildly unsure of herself. She only knows she does not wish to be sold into whatever business that man deals in. "I knew you couldn't have been okay with this." Elodie mentions joyously. "Now hurry you two we must be on our way if we are to get far enough in time." Marsha begins to walk down the road her two siblings following behind her filled with admiration for their sister. Neither of them wished to attend the academy little did they know Marsha saved the from much more than homework and exams. She may have very well saved their entire lives.
