The whole process of moving can be a stressful and hectic affair, even at the best of time. All the packing, organizing, hauling, traveling, and unpacking might be especially challenging for a soon-to-be mother.

Pregnancy is often an overwhelming motivation to move into a more spacious house or favorable neighborhood to raise the newborn. Don’t let the situation or the task ahead keep you from living in your dream house. Here are some tips you might find useful when moving while pregnant.

Plan everything well in advance

Give yourself enough time to prepare and plan for the move. First of all, make sure that the house you are moving into is occupancy-ready before you start making plans to move out. Then begin packing and organizing your belongings weeks ahead of the moving day.

Come up with a reliable organization system. For instance, create a to-do list, work around a schedule, and label all the boxes. Doing so will help you keep track of things and beat the dreaded pregnancy brain. Also, remember to keep all your personal and pregnancy essentials in an easily accessible carry-on bag.

Take care of yourself

Remember to look after yourself in the rush and excitement of moving. Keep yourself hydrated, snack regularly, stay warm, and take a relaxing break or nap whenever you need to. More importantly, avoid any strenuous labor such as heavy lifting and too much bending to reduce the unnecessary risk of injuring yourself or your unborn baby. Talk to your doctor to find out what you can and cannot do.

Bring all the help you can get

Depending on how far you are in the pregnancy and the toll it’s already taken on your body, a few minutes of manual labor can leave you feeling fatigued and completely drained. Even given plenty of time, you can’t possibly handle a move all by yourself. Call on all your available friends and family to help pack, load, and unpack your belongings. Getting some extra hands, especially during the moving day, will relieve some of the mental and physical pressure and get things done a lot quicker.

Hire a removal company

Find a professional moving company in your area to lend an expert hand in boxing, handling, and hauling your stuff. Not everyone has experience with moving – you will probably use some guidance on organizing, wrapping, and packing various items properly. A professional mover will guarantee that everything gets to the destination in one piece and as quickly as possible.
