This is how I live my retirement.

Introduction.

By Hector ChavezPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

I am about to turn 64 and started my retirement only 10 months ago, some friends think it must be boring to stay at home doing only housework. How wrong they are because I have always done this type of work, especially because despite being the biological father of 4 children and adoptive of another 2, I now embrace singleness and live with the youngest of my children, who is no longer a little one, well he has already turned 20, who studies and works. I took care of him without his mother for the last 15 years, you can imagine my titanic efforts to achieve his emotional balance, keep him in good health, educate him in values and prepare him for life.

My first days.

In the first days of having abandoned my exhausting work schedule, starting at 8 a.m. and finishing at 4 or 6 p.m., I did not stop having fun and messing up my rest schedules because I could finish the day at 2 a.m. and get up at 10 a.m. without worry registering my entry to work or giving explanations to my superior. I did not say no to any invitation to have fun, visit the beach, play chess, billiards or have a couple of drinks in a restaurant in the city.

My new occupations.

After the honeymoon, with fun and rest, new commitments and the rethinking of a new life began to appear. As I am a math teacher, my students began to appear to whom I give tutoring at home or accompany them with distance classes and once again I work in teaching but without the shackles that the institution imposed on me. Every class I attend is almost fun and it is more lucrative than the institutional schedule, although it is not the goal to earn more money.

As I now have the time in the world and have always been curious about online business, I spend part of my time researching and participating in those activities that leave passive income, such as investments by buying shares, trading cryptocurrencies, some programs affiliate or internet sales. Now I have my own website that I have built without the help of a professional, because this free time has allowed me to learn new things. I have no idea if it is a bit late to discover a world that remains hidden or rather inaccessible to the salaryman, but I am incredibly enjoying this new phase of my life learning new things, interacting with enterprising people, transforming my mindset and acquiring new skills.

A new vision of the world.

When I drive my car on long roads or highways I look at the sky and the mountains and it seems to me that I never carefully observed their incredible beauty and see in detail how the world is built. I always thought it was beautiful but not like now. I see my sons and daughters going about their activities and I love watching them and being with them.

What about my program?

In the years prior to my retirement, I visited other countries, but now it is a high priority on my agenda, I like internal tourism, which I do not rule out either because I live in a beautiful country, with incredible beaches and mountains and an enviable climate, not much hot, not very cold, we have never seen a tornado or a hurricane because our mountains cancel them out. In one of our mountains the lowest temperature ever reached is -3 degrees Celsius.

The nation's poverty is relative because, being a small country, a capable government can attend to the needs of the population. We have had many problems in the past but we are moving forward with the hope of a better future.

Conclusion.

I hope that these lines can show someone who reads them that before reaching retirement you can change the way you act and see the world and stop a little in the middle of the hustle and bustle of life, to enjoy the gifts that the life has given us all.
