The Moments You Didn't Post

Precious Moments Untold

Golden Moments

Today there are posts shared around the world about things that point out and highlight special moments of all kinds from every race and age. We go online and see people rejoicing from churches to beaches and even very exclusive Restaurants. We see families, couples, friends, and individuals highlighting things and events that brought them joy.

Yet, despite all the posting and sharing, many golden moments are missed from the lineup. So many moments bring us joy and laughter that never make our posts. From meeting people who become very special friends, to moments so filled with heart-felt joy it brings tears to our eyes. My concern here is, Do we lose those moments or are they stored somewhere deep in our hearts for our safest keeping for a later pull-up for our heart's health or to restore our sometimes fleeting joy?

The picture above is of me and my wife Dollie in her hospital room a few weeks before she passed away. I post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and a few other platforms pretty much every day yet, there are so many golden moments I shared with her that never made a post.

Through our marriage, I learned about what I now call "A Platinum Love." We shared it every day and it never got old or boring. Just better and better. The pain and disappointments we encountered along the way only made the love God had given us shine greater in its value and strength.

I miss my Dollie and sometimes I don't know what to say or do. That's when the memories of those golden moments rush in and strengthen my heart. They lift me up as if they were big strong men sent to rescue me from the gang members of loneliness.

Sometimes life is seemingly made up of a bunch of moments all rushed together with very little meaning if any at all. But the secret is to stop anyway and look just a little closer and just like a diamond in a gold mine you will find moments that your heart will value forever. Rather it's with the grandchildren, your spouse, or just a couple of friends. The point is, to not let those moments get away. Take them and hold them close and review them as often as you can. Then every chance you get, give a golden moment to those you love. Be the golden moment filled with joy for all to hold close no matter what the following days, nights, and new mornings may bring.

I have a granddaughter named Jayda, I call her Sparky because she always brings so much joy with her when she comes over. When she was younger she was a little on the heavy side. So whenever she would hold her arms up for someone to pick her up everybody would just walk away because she was so heavy. One day she saw me walking through the house and ran up to me with her arms up so I reached down and picked her up. She said Papa, nobody else wants to pick me up, am I heavy too big? I looked at her and gladly told her no Precious, you're not too heavy for Papa. The smile that came on her face that day accompanied by a very big hug is something I will never forget.

I am writing this little note in hopes of encouraging whoever reads it to hold on tight to the golden moments. You may need them later in your life to enrich your thinking and to strengthen your heart. They are often far better than any pill you can take or drink you can swallow for what ales you.

These golden moments may not have made your public Facebook posts but they are posted on the walls of your heart for you to view anytime you need to. They are made of what I call Platinum Love and they only get better as time goes on.
