CHAPTER ONE - Seneca Portals
Sunday afternoon, Sharice stood with her family around the oversized oatmeal colored, breakfast nook in the kitchen. Their kitchen is colorfully decorated as it has been passed down from father to daughter, mother to son, vice versa for centuries. Each ancestor has added something to the beautiful interiors and exteriors of each room of the greyscale home, and it shows off how incredibly, unique, and well-maintained this family has been since, the Nineteen-Nineties. Next, is Sharice whom, will inherit her family home. Sharice, is the youngest of the two siblings Mr. and Mrs. Bonfils. She does not possess ordinary looks, she is beautiful, her skin glows a pale yellow, her eyes smile generally, cheerful with a hint of mystery and intelligence behind them and twinkle of blue-green pigment somehow, matches her wavy strawberry blonde locks. The time was nearing Two O’clock, this was the beginning of a twisted future yet, somehow unexplained past that entwined them. Mr. Bonfils took the red ticket’s envelope off the counter, it felt smooth and yet heavy to him and immediately, made him feel ready to go. The Bonfils, are destined for some far-off Island with an interesting name “Seneca Islas”. This is a huge distance and very, exciting trip for the family as, they never have been out of Ontario. Somehow, making it through life always staying to their selves, working, living, being peaceful neighbors. Thus, their story is about to change and secrets of the family’s past on the daughters, fathers’ side will come to clarify they are not normal people in fact, they are distant offspring of a very powerful wizard.
Clancy the eldest sibling is an athlete, he is not the best but, he is not the worst either. He is a normal, tall yet husky, Sixteen-year-old male from Canada. He has Grey-blue eyes, reddish black hair, and gorgeous skin. Mrs. Bonfils genes seemed to have been dominant and somehow yet skipped Sharice. Funny how genetics work about opened and closed genes, resulting in skipped generations, and different sequences in genetic codes because; Mr. Bonfils and Sharice share not only looks but, intelligence too. They are a smart well fit together family how, can true love meet so many times in a row it is uncanny, and romantic.
As the story begins, the family gathers their belongings which, includes several large duffle bags and plenty of cash on hand. “Here” Clancy throws the smallest bag down the stairs and smacks skillfully into his father’s arms “keep them coming, Clancy”, Mark Bonfils exclaims as, bag after bag makes it way down the spiral staircase and onto the wagon for transportation to the outside Vista where, Mrs. Bonfils awaits with Sharice, they’ve begun to smell the flowers and the excitement fully sets into motion, they are finally going on vacation. Little do they know what, they are getting themselves into. Sharice squeals and looks at her mother “I wonder what the cabana will look like, fresh fruit for breakfast and I get my own room “. She spins into a circle and throws the flower in her hand that lands onto the wagon her father is wheeling out to be tightly packaged into their dark brown luxury vehicle. He begins speaking “Everyone in and seat belted, let’s go”! Sharice, Clancy, and their parents head off down the road after triple-checking the coffee pot is turned off, doors are locked, Fifi the dog is cared for, and the garage is shut.
Hey, dad can we stop and grab a few drinks before we get to the airport? Shanice is always thirsty Clancy, replies. Cars zip by the Bonfils sedan while, Mark skillfully let us them pass. We have time I suppose we can grab some smoothies; it will be something healthy and refreshing, we all need it. Driving away from the smoothie bar drive-thru, we enter the four lane expressway, the sign near the entrance points the way to the airport, three miles, exit 107 Airport Valeria. Parking the car in the semi vacant lot near the boarding station, Reighn Bonfils, a delicate woman with distinct features of teal colored eyes and red brown hair, lacking no discipline, mother of the Sharice and Clancy, as she pops out of her seat then quickly heads towards departures and grabs a spot in line for their four PM take off flight. This will take twelve hours of their lives to reach the archipelagos.
The flight was a blur, after several hours, the will to pay attention to anything but, the back of my eyelids diminished. Hey, sis, we are here, grab your overhead and come on hurry. The line piles up and we are luckily, fourth in the main isle. Here it goes one, two, three steps off the plane and onto the stairwell leading out onto to skidway, the sky is clear, a different hue than the Canadian night sky. Blue, green, pink but, usually green lights fill Ontario in September and October. It is not like that here; the water gives off a deep turquoise over the sky and the setting sun makes for a bright yellow over the horizon. This place is almost dreamlike and there is a sweet smell coming from the air it is almost, thick or electrified somehow. Putting a name to it is not possible right now, looking at Clancy he seems as mystified as everyone else. Walking and not saying much but, “Oh”, “ah”, and “look”. Mountains overfilling in plain sight, tall, short, skinny, plateaued, Ice covered, lush green, seemed like every shade of season presented themselves right through, rich scenery all in one place. Dad where are we, how did this place come to be? Mr. Bonfils started speaking in an outstretched tone as if he could not breath and talk at the same time. The air is filled with newness and energy, it seems we all need to get to our cabin, unpack, and see what this place or dad has in store for us here. It is hard to believe we are real; these Islands are real. There must have been a mistake, we did take a private plane, maybe this place was not on the map and we got lost.
