The Farm Story Started
Chapter 1
If someone told you will own and run a farm, I would probably would laugh and walk away. It crossed my mind from time after time growing up. Then I got married in 2016, and we started our farm journey 2020. We knew what we wanted, but you know sometimes people push you to do their way. So this didn't start like we wanted, but we make the best of it. So, for the first year of moving in, my husband and I were doing arts and crafts. Then we decided to get chicks. Which was smart. Then on Easter of 2021 our first came. Rosie came to us pregnant so that was exciting to look forward to.
Chapter 2 Farm Animal Fun
I didn't want Rosie be so lonely. She was mooing all night. So my husband and I went to a farm and got a cow with it calf. I named the cows Maggie and Chestnut . We also got 2 goats. Rosie was so good to the calf. She was a 2nd mom. So after 3 days of having the goats my husband went to feed the animals and texting me. He said " You might want to come out here." I went to the barn one of our goats gave birth. Nobody knew she was pregnant. It was a nice surprise so I named the goats coffee, Cappuccino and the baby is Latte. May came around and we were Rosie was due May 18th. She didn't give birth til 10 days later. My husband and I were laying in bed after midnight We looked on camera and we thought we saw something. So we went our. Rosie gave birth to the sweetest bull ever. I was told never make friends with a bull but couldn't resist. He was so sweet. One night I went into the barn to close the door. Maggie came over and pushed into the wall. Then Rosie came over and pushed Maggie. Showing Maggie we don't push Mommy . That nothing compared to be kicked by a bull. He was trying get flies away and I was happen to be there. Not his fault. So my husband named the bull Hank. Hank and Chestnut were instant best friends. Maggie and Rosie helped each other with their babies. Rosie was definitely a great mommy. When Hank was 3 or 4 month old we ended up castrating him. Hank grew fast. Everthing was perfect. My husband built a big coop and we transported the chicken out into the coop. Then they started laying eggs. It like having breakfast out everyday. My husband and I have breakfast together every morning. The eggs are better than store bought. I started to get over loaded by eggs abd started selling them. I enjoy that a lot. I met some nice people here. Everyone here are very nice. Down the we got Angora rabbits. They are a lot of work. Then one night my husband mention faiting goat to me. After some research i found out the goats have the same disease that runs in my family. Our outcome was different. We don't fait the
goats do when they get scared.
Faiting goats weren't around here. They only were in different area. So I asked a friend who I know travels knew anyone. In a matter of days we had 2 faiting Doe. They were sisters. They loved each other. Then a few weeks later we got two faiting bucks. Then the fun begun . Our started to have babies. Great mothers. We switch the buck with the regular goats and all was good to Latte gave birth.
She rejected her babies. I end up selling the babies. She had others litters and much better. Goats are only pregnant for 5 months and cows are preg for 9 months. (For a Fun fact)Sometimes you have a time rough when a goat or cows gets out. Now we have 2 Australia Shepherd border collie. Herding dog, and they already proved themsleves. I love my animals .
In conclusion, there are good days and bad days on the farm. The winters are hard . Every day, I get up, feed the animals, collect the eggs, and live a good life.
