The coolest person I know

Crainer

I

Point in, you’re hilarious and great at tasks that takes patience. But, you don’t do anything for money or attention. You keep what you make to yourself unless a family member needs a cake for a party, then you put on that apron and go to town for a simple, “thank you.” Everyone tells you to create businesses and you’re like, “Nah. I want to work at a school.” That’s pretty cool y’know? To have things in this world that just makes you smile and to be okay with that being all there is to them.

’ve put you through the ringer little homie, but I won’t just make this some sob story with apologies and

I think, maybe I’ll say something else. Like,

Hey sis. Hey Crainer. The “too cool for school, but you’re gonna end up a school teacher” one. The “I can do many a thing, but money isn’t what I’m after, so they’ll be kept as little hidden talents of mine.” You’re pretty cool in many a ways that have helped me in my life

Pause

Do you really think your older sibling will ever tell you about those cool things about yourself and how they’ve helped me? Heck n-yes. You know me. I’m gonna forever shout out the ways in which I’m blessed enough to have such a sister. So, here we go…for real this time.

Here are some ways you’ve been admirable and cool without even knowing it:

1. You have all of these talents and all you care to do with them is make yourself smile with them and someone else if the opportunity came by

You crochet, you cook the best food ever, you bake, and you just want to teach.

2. you’re so incredibly funny

Exhibit A:

“I’m gonna shoot in your window

It’s finna be real breezy in there” -you in response to maybe me annoying you

Exhibit B:

When mother got overwhelmed with the grocery list and you said,

“hang in there champ.”

Ok ok, not the best examples but these were the ones I found on short notice in my notes app. You know how to lighten moods and know when a joke’s necessary. Sometimes, I’d be having a rough day and you’d say something and I’d be like, “well, needed that laugh,” even if it got my little feelings hurt haha.

Times you’ve been a rockstar who brought out the best of me/I knew I could count on you to be kind

1. When we made that song in the bathroom about our sibling ship when we were kids

One of the first times I’ve written a song. Sure, it was a total rip off of The Cheetah Girl’s “We Are Sisters,” song but with a twist I thought could make it distinguishable enough as ours…but we rocked it in that bathroom.

2. When I was in college & got a girlfriend

You were the first person I came out to. Why? Not only because I knew that you’d accept me without a doubt, but because I knew it wouldn’t have to be this big thing with you.

You basically said, “cool, thanks for telling me,” and made sure I was alright. I dunno, your way of making my scary and pivotal moments into smaller, chewable pieces, helps me.

3. All the times I texted or called in a panic because life was just falling apart in front of me

You’re not my therapist. I have one of those now. But, I’ve used you as the keeper of my secrets and heartaching moments so many times it pains me enough to have more…that I’ll share with my actual therapist that I have to pay. That I got because of you. And wanting to be able to say I’m a better person now, and to be able to be a better sibling.

You’ve always had the best things to say. You’ve told me you trusted that things would improve, told me to get delusional, and made sure to check in. Sometimes, you were rough. You’ve told me I needed to stop trying my own methods when they weren’t working and to seek more help.

You’ve always spoken from your heart, and I respect that.

My point is: you have my back, but I want to be able to have yours more. I got you sis. Thank you for having me.
