The Birthday Boy

Big One Year Old

By Rachel StokesPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Oh boy I remember the day we first met each other, I took a nice long drive to the other side of town. Watch you run underneath your previous owner legs, just the same way you still do now.

But boy a year has already passed us all by, as I was so excited to continue to wake up with your many surprises, each day has it's own adventure. And those days always tend to be the best.

Oh how i just love when I am away from you all day at work, knowing when I walk through that front door I will get hugs and kisses. The type of relationship a human can have with their canine, is a form of relationship you should never have to regret.

Everyday we build a new kind of bond, and memories that I will never forget, and when I just need some comfort when I am not feeling my best, you come and cuddle with me until we both fall asleep in my bed.

I just love it how you protect your little furry family, how you constantly go check on them and stay near their cage. When you start to whine when you want me to take them out and how gentle you are when you sniff and lick their fur.

Not only do you show me affection but your affection for babies and kids is beyond this world. You are truly a gentle soul, so pure your heart is as good as gold. You are a protector in a way you don't really show, but when the time is right your ready to stand very strong.

My greater better half, my treasure to hold and keep forever, My pot of gold, My knight and shining armor, My shy boy at times when you choose to be shy, My healer at my time of need,My protector at the least times I expect it, My dream catcher that knows when I am having a bad dream. My everything in one.

When the second I witness you discover more about what you are capable of doing, and when you realize that doing those things are actually not as scary as you may have thought it was. To see the new pride you have in the way you walk and maneuver around the many places you tend to go that once created that tiny fear you had just overcome is amazing.

These minor imperfections helps me to learn from my very own imperfections, it has taught me that my own fears are just minor bumps that I can easily overcome by just simply trying something new. When teaching you I am also teaching myself, as if those many baby steps that I chose to walk around them instead of dealing with them head on, are a lot more easier then I thought they would be. It was the over thinking that I saw in you and the change when I would tell you it's okay just go see what it is and if you don't like it still then you just don't like it. But the percentage of the times it was just a bag of trash that looked different every time that you knew it shouldn't be where ever you discovered it so you had to play it safe.

But now your one years old and still growing, and learning, and discovering. Making new friends, trying to be a human when we all know your not. Greeting people with a wag of your butt, smiling, and don't let me forget all I need is a wrapper of some sort and I have your full attention, your love for different kinds of foods is crazy. I have never in my life time meet a canine that enjoys eating lettuce and salad.

You are truly one of a kind,My Birthday Boy~
