There are often a variety of problems in the process of a baby's growth and development, the baby appears "white bleeding" "erection" "menstruation" and other symptoms, parents will mostly panic Parents are at a loss for words.

These seemingly "abnormal" phenomena are not diseases!

01

Physiological weight loss

The weight loss of the baby within a few days of birth is usually a normal "physiological weight loss", for the following reasons.

The discharge of fetal stool.

The absorption of fetal fat and the discharge of excess water from the body.

The baby's sucking ability is weak at this time and the amount of milk is low.

Note

If your baby's weight still does not reach the level at birth 10 days after birth, it is time to seek medical help to see if it is caused by abnormal disease factors

02

Red urine

2-5 days after birth, due to less urine and more decomposition of white blood cells, uric acid excretion increases, which can make urine red and cry during urination, mostly found after urine stains in diapers.

At this time, nursing can be increased to increase urine volume and prevent crystallization and embolism.

Note: If the condition persists after 10 days, it is an abnormality and prompts medical attention.

03

Bleeding in the white of the eye

When a newborn is delivered in the head position, the retina and conjunctiva will bleed a little due to the compression of the mother's birth canal during delivery, commonly known as bleeding in the white of the eye.

Generally, no special treatment is needed and the bleeding will disappear on its own or fade away after a few days, but if it does not improve or worsen after a few days, you should go to the hospital for examination.

04

Newborn babies have a lot of eye droppings

Newborns have a strong metabolism and often have a lot of eye droppings. However, if the eye stool is too yellow and sticky, then it is not simply caused by fire, but may be due to eye lesions, which is a big problem. It may mean that the baby has congenital cholecystitis and other diseases, and if not treated in time, it will affect the baby's future vision development.

After the baby is born, special attention should be paid to the number of eye droppings. If there is still a large amount of eye discharge after 1 week of life, you should take your baby to the hospital as soon as possible for an examination.

05

Swollen breasts

Many mothers find that their babies have swollen breasts soon after birth, and some babies even produce a small amount of milk, is this also normal?

Yes, the swelling of the baby's breasts is not a strange phenomenon but is influenced by the residual estrogen of the mother. As the baby grows, the swollen breasts will slowly disappear.

Note

It usually goes away on its own in about 2 to 3 weeks and does not need to be treated.

Never try to "squeeze" your baby's nipples, as this can easily cause skin breakdown and inflammation, and may even lead to serious bacterial infections and sepsis.

06

False menstruation" and "false gonorrheal" phenomenon

After the fetus is delivered, the estrogen level drops, the endometrium is shed, and a small amount of bloody and white discharge comes out of the vagina, which usually occurs 3-7 days after the baby is born and lasts for about 1 week.

Whether it is false menstruation or gonorrheal, it is a normal physiological phenomenon. Parents should not be alarmed and do not need any treatment.

Tips

It is not advisable to put the newborn baby girl in the bath when she is bleeding vaginally to ensure local cleanliness and hygiene and to prevent infection. If the bleeding is heavy and lasts for a long time, then it is important to take the baby to the doctor in time to avoid bleeding caused by disease factors.

07

Baby peeling (physiological flaking)

Almost all newborn babies have dry skin within 1-4 weeks after birth, with thin white skin peeling all over the body, which is medically known as physiological flaking.

Whether it is a slight flake or a snake-like peeling, it is normal as long as the baby has no problems with eating and sleeping.

Note

If the peeling is combined with other symptoms such as redness or blisters, it may be a symptom of the disease and requires medical attention.

08

Erection

Some mothers may notice an erection of the "penis" when changing the diaper of their baby boy. This is a normal reaction to the touching of the sex organ, just as a little girl can have a clitoral erection, but it is less visible.

All male babies experience this phenomenon under certain conditions (such as when they are touched or stimulated in some way), but some mothers don't notice it. All in all, this is normal and mothers should not worry about it.

09

Black zirconium

Zirconium is a sticky, blackish-green substance that in medical terms refers to the first stool of a newborn. It consists of amniotic fluid, mucus, fetal hair, bile, and cells shed from the skin and digestive tract.

The typical change in a newborn's stool is from zirconium to yellow or green stool, which takes about 4 to 5 days.

Caution

Since zirconium is irritating to the perinatal skin of newborns, the buttocks should be washed with warm water after each bowel movement and dried with a thin layer of vegetable oil to prevent the occurrence of red buttocks (diaper rash).

10

Laryngeal tinnitus: baby's sleep grunts and grunts

Laryngeal tinnitus in newborns, which is not obvious when they are first born, becomes more and more pronounced a few weeks after birth. This is mainly because the newborn's laryngeal cartilage is not yet well developed, caused by the softening of the laryngeal cartilage, which generally disappears on its own between the age of 6 months and the age of one year.

New mothers, however, should be alert to the fact that acute laryngitis is a disease that is more prevalent in children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years, and is occasionally seen in children under 6 months of age, but is less common in children over 6 years of age, so pay attention to the distinction.

Three main signs of acute laryngitis

The coughing sound of acute laryngitis is different from the usual coughing sound of a cold. It sounds like a barking cough and is worse at night.

Most laryngeal coughs only occur during inhalation, but not during exhalation, which is called "inspiratory laryngeal cough".

In acute laryngitis, the inflammation reaches the vocal cords, and the baby's voice becomes hoarse and obvious, even if he cannot make a sound.

11

Startle reaction

This is due to the immaturity of the neonatal nervous system. At this time, as long as the mother gently presses any part of the baby's body with her hand, she can make him quiet. Usually, this reflex will disappear on its own after two months.

Attention

If your baby has symptoms such as staring, trembling, blinking, repeated chewing and sucking, uneven breathing, bruised skin, and twitching of facial muscles, it is not a jump, but a possible neurological disease.

Some of the "strange phenomena" during the growth of the baby are caused by physiological factors and do not threaten the health of the baby, so do not worry too much about them after understanding the causes of these phenomena.
