Healing by the Book
Laura’s fingers curled tightly around the opened envelope, crinkling it as her heels clicked against the hospital’s white tile floors. The hallways were familiar, too clean with dry air. She turned the corner and felt her blistered feet begin to drag. Her heart started to pound wildly in her chest as she drew closer to her destination. Fear and anxiety filled her thoughts flipping as quickly as an old film. She felt her throat tighten and she leaned against the wall to steady herself. ‘How am I supposed to tell him?' Laura choked, trying to compose herself.

My Dearest Daughters
“MMMCHT.” Sucking her teeth in disgust, Adolisa was furious. “I shouldn’t have come here,” she rambled as she sat in the car. Her sister, Chioma, had chased after her and was now banging on the door, pleading for her to come out. “Addy, wait a second,” she yelled. Adolisa, with watery eyes, shakes her head and pulls off.

Brother Bond
The cover was black and soft, a leather bound journal of the type found on many store shelves. The elastic band meant to hold the book closed had snapped at the bottom; it was being used as a bookmark. The ribbon was frayed on the end, the pages were stained with watermarks and signs of extensive travel.

A.I.T.A. blackish edition.
Okay, this is one of those threads where I’ve got to ask a simple question: Am I the asshole? I’ll admit at the beginning that yes, I may have been the asshole, because maybe I should have found a different solution to my problem in this scenario.

The Mystery Pack
As the clock ticked over to five on a warm summer’s Friday afternoon, twins Emily and Abby could not contain their excitement. The long weekend had finally arrived. The sisters had made plans to travel up to Sydney for some retail therapy. During the unprecedented pandemic, life had become extremely difficult. The little gift shop that the siblings owned in partnership together had endured hardship from closure. This trip was a much needed soul revival.

Songbird
The sight of piled up boxes is so goddamn depressing. This was the most recent in a series of jumbled and frustrated thoughts running through Abby's head as she dragged an upright lamp across her living room. Her third move in five years had left her frazzled mind in a turmoil comparable to what she had wrought on her shabby apartment. She thanked whatever invisible deity might be listening that she’d thought far enough ahead to take the day off from work. She couldn’t imagine having that obligation on her plate today.

Dear George
Chrissy jumped in response to a loud thud. The noise was Nate hitting a brick wall, literally; a wall that needed to be removed to allow access for Bucky’s wheelchair. It was certainly not like the other walls, that readily crumbled under the blows of the sledge hammer. Nate and Sonny were puzzled as to why a wall would be bricked in. Even more curious was a small wooden window in the midst of the brick. When the men cut through the wood an undersized room was revealed. The siblings stood in silence for a moment, baffled at what was before their eyes. Behind the wall was a sparse room containing a desk, a chair, and an old Kerosene lamp.

The Switch
The Switch Bill I had the best life growing up. I felt loved and supported and I found everything as easy as it could be. My first girlfriend was in high school and we only broke up because of how far apart our colleges were. We drifted apart over the 4 years as we studied in different places and when we came back together afterwards it was as friends. We were just not looking for the same things. I wanted to live here back where I grew up and sell real estate and she wanted to move to the west coast and help save the planet.
