parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Nature's Treasures
My mother's gardens are lovely. They encompass 3 acres in Upstate NY and benefit from all four seasons. Even through long and bitterly cold winters, the bulbs lie dormant, resting in preparation for their "coming out" party in Spring. Blooms continually present themselves for three of the four seasons providing pops of color against the lush, green backdrop. Growing up my mother did not have the benefit of staying in one home. Instead her family had to move from one rental property to another throughout her childhood. I think that is why it was so important that she and my father provide us children with one home. A stability to provide us with roots to grow.

Passion, Love, and Care
As a little kid I was obsessed with scissors and cutting things with them, paper, crayons, clothes, pencils, hair, anything I could get my hands on, much to my parent's dismay. Fast forward to today, my graduation ceremony looming, gifts for teachers laying about and a graduation gift for my father, my love of cutting hasn't halted in its tracks.

Kidnapping EXISTS
Kidnapping, also spelled kidnaping, criminal offense consisting of the unlawful taking and carrying away of a person by force or fraud or the unlawful seizure and detention of a person against his will. The stats and facts on kidnapping are disheartening. Has it ever occurred to you that abducted people in the great majority of cases end up killed shortly after the abduction? Did you know that unemployment, poverty, and bad political status may trigger offenders to commit such a horrible crime?

Dress up isn't just for kids
I always loved dressing up. When I met my future husband we were 17, and I was so excited to finally have a companion as crazy as I was! We dressed as Dracula and the bride of Dracula for our May Ball. It wasn't a fancy dress ball - that's just how we roll.

Hey Mom, I Forgot to Tell You
Hey Mom, I forgot to tell you about my first time seeing an angel. I opened my eyes for the very first time and saw light. I'm pretty sure I cried because I was unfamiliar with the sight and then I felt a warm embrace, one that made me feel safe. When I looked up, I looked into the eyes of an angel and I felt as if I almost knew that I would be okay forever. I later learned that my angel had a name and that I would call her mom. I later experienced that my angel was assigned to protect me, nurture me, and teach me the ways of the world and how to survive in it.

To: Tree, From: Apple
It took me about two decades to realize my mom was a person. Of course, she was living and breathing and existing before my eyes, but only ever as “mom”. It was difficult for me to wrap my head around the idea that I had been in my mom’s life for only a small fraction of the time she'd been living. In this mindset, it is so easy to be selfish. There is always room to demand more. Growing up, I found myself constantly frustrated with a number of things that felt out of my control. Frustrated that at times our pantry would be barren for weeks. Frustrated with the grime and clutter that became the backdrop of our home. Frustrated with the regular displays of domestic unrest between my parents: screaming, wall punching, gaslighting. It could all be too much. I needed somewhere to displace this frustration and somehow my mother became the scapegoat. It was her job to make sure we always had lots of lovely things to eat. It was her job to make sure messes didn't get out of control. If she was so clearly unhappy in her marriage, it was her job to leave. If only she could just do her job.

College Law
Thereafter high school during the late 70's, my mom obtained an entry level position as a bank teller in Los Angeles. The matriarch in my immediate family was not given an ultimatum by my grandparents, either attend college or work full time. Once working her way up the corporate ladder without a college degree, she shattered the glass ceiling and is now the COO for an international cosmetic haircare company.
