Families and literature go hand in hand; fictional families to entertain, reflect and inspire.
Love is a Journey
Jenna was a calm spirited girl. Her eyes were golden brown, filled with the tears of her past trauma and heartache. Her thoughts and feelings were fueled by the disappointment and trauma of those who she loved dearly, but had not returned that same love to her. Her curly rose gold hair fell to her shoulders like a calming ripple in a beautiful lake on a windy day in the Fall. She searched for purpose and searched for the love that she knew she deserved. She looked for love in all the wrong places and believed truly that she was broken and would never find someone who genuinely loved her. She decided that maybe the years of abuse that haunted her would disappear if she moved as far from the city where it happened.

Unexpected Kindness
Lucinda sat silently in the crowded gate area, a son on each side. They were encapsulated by grief. Lucinda felt guilty not staying with her husband, but they had to get back to work and he had to deal with the estate of his father. It is just more expedient to take care of some things in person. His sisters were of no help, they were too grief stricken, as if he had no feelings. Part of Lucinda had expected this, the man was well into his eighties, not quite a shock. The sisters were behaving as if he was struck down in his prime. Her own mother had been only sixty-seven when she died, that was a shock. What she would have given for just five more years with her, let alone seventeen more years. Those were all inside thoughts.

The black book with family secrets (2nd edition)
Sarah walked out of her deceased father's attorney's office in the CBD with the little green box, which contained a gift and the check for $20,000 from the Commonwealth Bank. She was not sure what will she find inside the box. Sarah crossed Martin Place's pathway looking for her car. When she finally gets into the car, she cannot wait to open the box and check what was inside. Sarah already knew how she would use the money from her inheritance. The chestnut hair woman would probably use it to start a new business venture, especially after closing her coffee shop due to the Covid19 pandemic.

Save or Spare
“Save or spare, only you can decide who’s the lucky heir” were the bold black words printed on a sheet of banner style paper that lay above 5 Moleskin notebooks on a large desk. All different colors and all had different titles written across the covers. 5 notebooks for 5 family members, this will be interesting I thought.

The Little River Crone
For those in my life who’ve handed me beautiful seeds. The Little River Crone Once upon a time in the middle of the Maine woods, many years ago, there came to be a witch flying over the treetops in her clunky spaceship, and seeing a little river, she made to land the craft near it. Being a young witch, and this being her first trip through space, she was not used to operating a flying contraption, and therefore, she landed quite hard and quite close to the little river, the craft bumping along as it came to a halting stop. The witch had a few bumps and bruises but hurriedly checked on her parcel, a precious glass box, with dirt and mineral inside.

The Lesson
We begin with me digging through my estranged father’s attic after he passed away. I hadn’t seen him in more than forty years. He had no other children, and no real possessions other than a run down house outside Phoenix, Arizona which he left to me. I was preparing the house to be sold, and removing the junk, when I happened upon a small, black, Moleskine journal.

Hickory Creek, Inc.
"How do you get us into these messes?" Linus groaned. Typically, my dear brother is thrilled when we travel. Today, that wasn't the case. We had missed lunch because I had forgotten to wake Linus up. To be fair, my latest Sherlock Holmes novel had been quite riveting.

Underbrush
She looked around the dark attic space. “Well I don’t see anything worth going through” she whispered to Emili. Emili continued to look around, “What about this?” as she pointed to a dusty old box with the word “KEEP” on the side. Sheena looked at the box with a disgusted look on her face, “Ugh, I guess I can look through this, let’s take it down so we can actually see what is in it.” Emili grabbed the box and followed Sheena into the dining room.
