Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family.
#ThePact
As I can so vividly recall, never has anger or evil intentions been quick to entertain your tongue. You are the person I look to for brotherly advice. You were that coach who taught me the importance of teamwork. You taught me how to manually operate a vehicle, how chess is played, and most importantly, you sat by my side and explained the game of life. My Brother, You're the only reason I'm able to differentiate and understand my prodigal existence. As close as we could come to one another, was by cosmic fate, the date of our birth. Yours being sept. 18th, and mine, sept. the 19th. This was always something I took notice of and much pride in. Even though you were already established, as a baby you took me in. I know you can hear my heart beating in gratitude, Thank you, my dearest Brother...

2022: The Year of the Mom Cuddles
Let's just get this out of the way: Being a mom is exhausting. It is unending, and for all its magic and reward, the job is relentless. It is highly criticized, lonely and mentally, spiritually, and physically taxing. It's easy to get caught up in reaching milestones, always looking to "What's next?" The loneliness can drive one to Instagram where the picture of motherhood is painted in a filtered light only leading to further isolation, and every person seems to have an opinion about what being a good mother means.

Coffee Saved My Dad's Life
The relationship between fathers and sons is a complicated one. And mine with my Dad was no different. I have never been a particularly religious person. My parents never pushed religion on me. My Grandma took my sister and me to church when we were little, but nothing ever came of that. We got older and lost interest. But my Grandma always maintained one phrase that stuck with me. That everything in life happens for a reason. Nowadays, you see that line used everywhere. Most often in social media And it is often used out of context. But if you genuinely dissect the phrase down to its core, it can be hauntingly eerie. Are small minor events throughout your life ultimately leading to one event? Is it possible? I never thought so. Not until that very concept ended up saving my father's life.

Three at the Table
{Dad yelling from bathroom}. Terry, have you seen my reflector vest? {Terry was in the kitchen getting breakfast ready … pancakes for Tandem and Cereal for Tory. It’s hard to believe how much they have grown. Tandem the big brother all of 14 and Tory the bratty little sister all of 10. And lets not forget the one on the way. Tandem is not going to be happy at the baby reveal party…another wonderful little sister is coming his way}

Picking Plums
Through the lens of Mama, 1964. Our plums are ready to pick approximately when other fruits and berries are ripe, therefore, it is a dreaded time for my children as they know they will be called upon to help with every vegetable, tuber, bean and fruit. I like to dress in Lathel’s khaki’s for this event--shirt, pants and hat so my children will figure out what is about to happen. Wake them around 5:00 am so they know it’s serious out there. Temperatures are at their hottest the last part of June and July. Dressing in long sleeves and pants protects from stings and keeps the body cool. My kids will dress in sleeveless tops and shorts. Wasps and bees like to start work when the sun shines brightly. They also love vegetables, tubers, beans, and fruit. I like to get in the garden before they do. Also, I can be alone and think.
