Retired From Surrogacy

Update 2/(?)

By JessicaPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Good Morning!

*Just letting you all know this was back in 2022 late summer*

As I was watching the timer count down. My breathing became tight as I became more anxious. *BEEP BEEP BEEP* I blow out the breath I didn't realize I was holding in. Hands shaking I stand up from sitting on the ledge of the tub and step towards the bathroom counter. I open my eyes from the slowest blink I have ever done. I *gasp*, squeal and quietly let out an excited scream. The bright two pink lines staring back at me surprised it's as dark as it is because of how early I know I am. I got the BFP (Big Fat Positive) I was hoping for. Hands still shaking, I immediately take a photo of the test to send to the dads. It was morning where I was and evening where they were. They replied within a few short minutes. Excited... but also want to wait for blood tests. Which was understandable. My blood test was booked for the next day.

My kids and I woke up and I took them with me. Even when I book my time slot for blood work, there is a bit of a wait. But this time wasn't the case we were called back soon after sitting down. (my kids were arguing over who got to sit next to me in a packed blood clinic waiting room) I sat in the spinning blood draw chair and my kids cramped against the wall still bickering about being in the other's personal space... This time the most waiting happened here. Thankfully They gave me one of the slightly bigger rooms, which was still small. I dislike getting my blood drawn so I never look while they do it. I just looked at my kids which normally is just the wall with informational posters on them. They were done fairly quickly, so we were able to get out of there and get on with our day.

A day or so passed and I logged into my medical results account. Knowing the results are positive... Wham! I remember finding out with some research my beta numbers were great. Which was a huge relief! Sending all the information to the IDs (Dads/Intended Dads) Now to get my first appt booked. Now that was a headache. With it being a surrogacy I wanted to go with my OB right away. I called their office to book my appt, but they needed a referral from my clinic. That was frustrating to get in the moment. It took so much back and forth with the clinic and my OB office to get the paperwork sent over from ON to SK. It got done eventually and I was able to have my first appointment.

With my son, I ended up having HELLPS syndrome. But went on to have a normal pregnancy with my daughter. So because of my history, I am seen by my OB sooner than a person without my history, just to make sure things are checked and as a precaution. I start taking my baby aspirin right away and have my blood pressure machine ready to use almost daily...(it gets used daily later in pregnancy, just to make sure but this pregnancy I didn't have any issues with blood pressure) Things are in place and I can relax as school is starting back up soon.

As the morning sickness slowly kicks in. I have my things that are helping and even try out new ones. BTW I posted throughout my journey on TikTok @mamajessicadolly. You can find videos and photos there... Just before school started I ended up in the ER...

I will post more about this in my next part, Thank you for checking out my journey updates. Talk to you soon~
