My mother remarried again this year to a rich, exquisite man in Granite, New York. After Paw died she started leaving more often taking faraway trips, she stated, " I am living the life your father has deprived me of, if I went with my mind instead of listening to my parents I could have been rich all along." As you can see my mother has the mindset of those country farm girls who wish to move on to the city life to live big and ravishing. When she took these faraway trips I took this as an opportunity to keep up with the farm and try my hardest to stay in the town I was raised but knowing my mother she wouldn't allow her country little piglet to stay there. "Loreley I know your father's death has hit you hard but we have to move on my wedding is in 2 months and we need to be packed and ready to leave for our new home, my mother stated." She knew what I was up too but she always found a way to step in between my plans as Paw use to say," Your mother works like the devil to keep everything according to her imaginary lifestyle."

Mother has forced me to meet with my new father for a brunch date to get to know each other better. A day before I was fighting against her motive for me to wear a dress and heels to please her image of having a sexy daughter. Me being 17, I was very curvy for my age having a fully developed body, I tend to hide it from the perverted and lustful eyes of men. One of those perverted men was Larry, my new father, mother didn't know that he would sometimes be looking at me with the sinful eyes of his. If, I told her she wouldn't believe me because she thinks Larry is the most diligent man in the world. I arrived at the restaurant wearing a red fitted bodycon dress with nude open-toe heels. As I stepped in I could feel everyone's eyes piercing me with jealousy and lust just the presence of this feeling made me want to vomit. As I continued to walk towards my table Larry pulls out my chair for me as a gentleman would but his only motive was to get a closer look at my plump breast in my dress. I sat down thanking him and went straight to the menu holding it up in my face to avoid looking at his disgusting red-cheeked face. "Loreley did you know that your name is a song of a beautiful woman that leads a man to his death, Larry questioned me with an eager look in his eyes." At first, I was uninterested in his question but my conversation with my mother popped in my head, "Loreley be extra nice to Larry today he was talking about letting you keep the farm and giving you some money to keep up with it." Thinking to myself I could pay someone to keep up with the farm while we live in New York and save the rest of the money. I gave him an angelic smile as my dimples showed and said," That's amazing a woman's looks that kill." Thinking to myself as I respond I knew he would take this opportunity to give me an over-sexualized comment. "Just like you did when you walked in but the only thing is no one died, as he chuckled away at his attempt to converse." A few more minutes passed and I noticed that there was a black duffle bag sitting next to his foot but, as I focused harder on the bag the waiter had arrived with our food which snapped me out of my trans. Something in that bag was drowning my attention making me even more curious to know what was inside. After we were done eating and having a decent conversation he picked up the bag and placed it on the table. "I noticed that you couldn't take your eyes off of the bag the whole time we were eating, Larry had stated." " Of course who couldn't be curious to know what is inside a black duffle bag, when they are having a meet-up with someone, I replied fiercely." As my curiosity was answered there was the money mother mentioned but what caught my attention was a little old black book with a snake metal cover on it. " Inside this bag, there is $20,000 and a book passed down generation from generation in my family but there is one condition you have to follow." At first, I was hesitant but the book had a strong energy pull on me which made me eager to know what he wanted. "What is that condition if I may ask?, as I answered confidently." "You take the money but you must treasure this book as your possession, Larry replied with a serious look in his eyes." Stunned by his bizarre request I picked up the book tracing my finger along with the snake cover. As I opened the book turning the pages I had ended up getting a paper cut as I turned a page, as that happened Larry had a demonic smile as if he had killed his prey. After that encounterment we left our separate ways but there was an unsettling feeling in my stomach as I carried the bag to my car.

I was walking in an unfamiliar place only wearing my sleeping clothes but in my hand was that little black book. As I tried to turn around my hand holding the book swung back making me fall to the ground. Astonished by what had happened I stayed in that position for a while before realizing that this family book Larry had gifted me had a mind of its own. I dusted myself off as I stood up and let the book direct back in the path it was taking me. In my head, I wondering where it was leading me at 2 in the morning as I looked at my watch. Soon we had stopped at the cliff of the ocean which was pretty far from my house. "Loreley, a voice had called out to me as I turned around to find no one there." Again I heard the same voice but in front of me, I snapped my head forward to only find the book opened with the glowing letters of my name written inside. I picked up the book replying who is this but before I could get an answer the book jerked forward making me fall into the drift of the waves as they swallowed me. Opening my eyes I found myself back in my room with Larry sitting in a chair in the corner of my room. "What is this book?, I questioned him with fear in my voice. But before I could get an answer I was dragged back into that fearful night again.

It has been an year since the book has been using me as punching bag. I realized that it feeds off my fear and that there was an reason Larry had given me the money and book, the book needed to feed and I was just part of the food source. But, my main question is how can I untie myself from this dreadful life. Thinking that it reminded me the time Paw taught me the word rendezvous and how he said that this word would become more meaningful as I grew. "Rendezvous, I repeated the word countless times." This was my fate and that there was a reason for this book to be in my life. This grimace book was that word Paw had taught me. A fate as grimaced and twisted as you could imagine.
