"Just another day I suppose" Luna proclaimed, while staring out the window. As she looked at the dismal sky of gray, rain began falling from the sky as thunder crashed and lightening struck or so it seemed. Dressed in a red t-shirt a cropped pair of blue jean shorts and black new balance sneakers her day couldn't have been going any better. She walked to the door, squeezed the knob and pulled. As the door gave way you could hear it creek. The sound of the rain dropping heavy drops of putter potter putter potter did not seem to keep her from exiting the house and running right into the rain. Thunder crashed "yip yip yooray" she exclaimed! "Let there be rain". As she danced along the sidewalk manicured with beautiful holly shrubs, and Narcissa trees an older gentleman driving a green Beatle Volkswagen slowed along and screamed out of his window "You only live once"!

Indeed you do Luna thought as she began to twirl around in spirally circles! The rain won't stop us now! The wind began to kick up wild so, she took of her shirt and held it to the sky as if to see if it would fly or even glide in the rain. She watched as it ruffled in the rain and wind, and then once again there was the sound of thunder. Just as the thunder crashed her mother pulled into their driveway in a blue GMC Acadia, hazard lights blinking, windshield wipers in full force moving up the driveway like a centipede. When she came to a stop her door opened and a giant black umbrella quickly expanded out. As she stepped out of the vehicle with shopping bags and a purse she glanced at the dancing image in her front yard and yelled, "Put your clothes on right this second. You don't know what kind of freaks are watching you and why on earth are you outside in this type of weather" she questioned? "Did you know you could get sick it is so dangerous out here". "Oh Rose, the rain has never hurt anyone, and have you forgotten today is my birthday. I'm eighteen years old today. I can go outside butt naked if I liked to. besides wasn't it you who told me I should embrace the world", Luna expressed as she put on her soaked red t-shirt and walked over to her mother's car.

As Luna proceeded to help gather bags and presents out of the car her mother responded, "Oh Luna embracing the world has nothing to do with you becoming Gene Kelly in the middle of a tropical storm during hurricane season. Even he had a top hat and umbrella. You on the other hand will probably end up with Dorothy, Toto and the 3 stooges". "Rose", Luna asked to interject. "Yes, Luna" Rose replied apparently annoyed with her eldest daughter while approaching the porch with shopping bags and gifts. "The movie you are referring to is the "Wizard of Oz" and the characters in that story are Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and The Wiz. Also in reference to me dancing in the midst of a tropical storm my mother just arrived home from shopping in the middle of it. So metaphorically speaking which one do you think would end up in the land of Oz first. Me or You"? Rose looked into Luna's eyes and they both began to chuckle. They both entered the house and as Rose dropped her keys into a glass dish on the cherry wood cabinet, she kept in the foyer she ordered Luna, "Dear 18 year old, take the wet shoes off at the door, bring the bags in the kitchen and go to your room and get out of those wet clothes. A young lady should be safe warm and dry for her eighteenth birthday gathering.
