Red light Green light

So leading back into the good old days anyone remember playing Red light Green light? If so have you played it in a swimming pool? Well I got to experience it again for the first time in ages. Take four kids that have not seen each other in about four years into a swimming pool and try to make up games like Marco Polo and Shark and Red light Green light into the mix to enlighten the playing time of two hours available.

So after having the kids that are bouncing of the walls with excitement running through multiple rounds of these games. Now take in mind all the kids are competitive and our not ones to like to loose to each other. I really get to see my daughter that was put up for adoptions dark side. Now keep in mind for yellow light with traffic means go faster in our house.

She has so much of my sass and attitude that it is not funny. She also still has the protectiveness of a big sister. With her younger brother being short and can not go into the deep end of the pool. So during this trying time of winning the games my son kept trying to go into the deep end so my adopted daughter kept trying to rain him in. This was a blast to watch because she kept being very bossy. Her sass kept coming out in spades.

Now keep in mind its been about four years since we have seen each other. Her adopted parents where there trying to rain in the sass but as we all know that is a lost cause. Add big sister into the mix and you can only imagine the laughs that kept coming. Then finding out about sore loosing.

Joci is not one to give into loosing she was sent back to the starting line more times then I can count on top of her trying to be the big sister to a pain in the butt of a brother who does not like to follow the rules let alone listen to what is expected of him. For example do not go where you can not touch the bottom or keep your hands on the wall in the deep end.

lets put it this way there was a lot of out of the mouth of babes comments mentioned and lots of corrections made during this swim time. Then take the train that was attempted to be made with all four kids trying to piggy back off each other. Either one did not want to be on this ones back or the other did not fit. But it did not mean that they did not keep trying it was hilarious to watch them work it out.

So imagine going in between all these games to fall back on Red Light Green Light and have a sassy daughter who loves to make it interesting keeps calling out Yellow light while trying to manage movement options in water while winning is quite funny in itself. But keep in mind when she is not it makes for great moments of sore loosing due to being caught moving at the wrong times. Now most of us parents think our kids will be worse then ourselves and learn in these moments.

That in itself is a teaching moment because I always was told "Just wait until you have kids." Which my mother loved to say to me. Now I am able to finally see it. However I still love it and expect more from my children to keep surprising me. Kids give us the best teaching moments and to keep parenting. So to each its own I guess to learn from the older generations.
