Quite The Eclectic Family , but We Make It Work.
Don't for one minute let those innocent eyes fool you.

For one reason or another the decision has been made, to surrender your fur baby to a shelter. This is not an easy decision to make but sometimes it is warranted. The one that is affected the most by this decision is the pup that through no fault of his own has been left abandoned in a strange place where nothing is familiar. He is scared and just wants to go back home.
In the back of your mind you hope beyond hope that it is someone like me that gets the call to come to the rescue of this one or that one. Animal Control used to have me on speed dial, I would get the call about some distressed pup and off I would go to rescue the unlucky cur and then, if the wounds were just of the flesh and not internal, I would personally see to the healing of the animal myself. When ready, the pup is once more bathed and primped to look his or her best in the Meet Market. The ultimate goal is of course to win the golden ticket or to land placement into a forever home surrounded by love and affection.
You see, for the unwanted and the unloved, I was their last Hail Mary. I was their knight in shining armor. Usually I nursed them back to health and assisted with their next permanent placement into their forever home.
Simon was different, from the moment this sickly little puppy was placed in the palm of my left hand and I looked into his tired eyes, I knew I was going to move heaven and earth to save him and provide him his very own happily-ever-after. I knew that he would want for nothing because with me he had found his protector and his very own forever home.
Simon is a chiweenie by breed. This is a mixture of Chihuahua and Weiner dog. By the time I got involved in saving Simon, he was three weeks old. He had been created to be a stud. It is funny how life has a way of getting in the way sometimes. This time life really interfered and granted Simon a stay of execution. Life took the bull by the horns and bullied its way to the front of the line and took Simon with it. When I got the call about Simon he was only three weeks old. There was no way he was going to be a stud because he was born with a broken tail and only one testical which was totally enflamed. his glory days were over before they began. He had fleas that were almost as big as he was. As they were leaving, the guy stopped, turned and looked me in the eyes, "Who is going to pay us for that wasted piece of skin with a heart beat?" His other two companions laughed pretty hard at his comment
I glared at this lowlife scum, "What does this poor little three week old puppy's life mean to you? I already know the answer to that question so don't bother. I am going to pay you exactly what it would cost to perform a euthanasia. I would have possibly given him a twenty-five percent chance of living. However, from where I sit, if you are only in it for the money then there is a new unsurmountable issue that should be staring you in the face."
The guy stopped mid step and with a puzzled look asked me, "I have no idea what you are talking about."
"Smiling I said, "This is an easy one champ. You see even if this little guy had survived, he would have never been able to stud for you. his testical is going to have to be removed. You won't have to worry about that though because I am taking him off your hands." He shrugged and walked towards his car.
As I got back into my car, I looked over at my daughter Megan who had accompanied me on this adventure. she knew what was about to happen, she smiled and reached into her boho bag and retrieved her sunglasses. Placing them on her face and grabbed the bar that ran along the inside ceiling of the car I mashed on the gas pedal and we took off. I don't know if that guy could hear me but I yelled into the wind, "Eat my shorts Scumbag, you are a waste of human space."
Megan laughed and said, "You go mom! By the way, this little guy's name is Simon."
I nodded in approval and as predicted, Simon is happy and very spoiled. He is such a different dog then the one I picked up three years ago. All I have is your rejected and unloved, they are so worth it though because they have a right to be here and to be loved because they do exist.
