Mum,
What a journey we have had together, no matter what happens in the future you know I will always love and you inspire me to be the best person I can be.
Let's go back twenty-three years and tell the story about our amazing adventure together.
Back in the late nineties, you brought me into this amazing world. When we first met we were both very sick and both of our lives were in jeopardy. I nearly lost you after you gave birth to me and you nearly lost me after I was born two months premature and struggled to fight for my life. Thankfully we both began to heal and you held this 600-gram little boy, you knew being a mother was going to be a challenge.
Childhood was hard for us because though you were always busy at work and looking after the younger siblings you were always there if I needed to talk to someone about my day whether it was good or bad. When I was eight I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (ASD/Autism), ADHD, and Severe Anxiety. You knew this was going to be hard, but you never gave up on me and every challenge I threw you always took it head-on. We had our differences and we would argue sometimes, but you did this because you loved me and wanted me to succeed.
In the teenage years, some things slowly went downhill. Our relationship was a little strained as a teenager I thought I was ’too cool to hang out with you. But I realized I will always need you even as an adult. As you know I had my struggles as a teenager. I starting to lack confidence, was always worried about what people thought of me, but you always said to me ‘No matter what you look like someone will always love’. The day I graduated high school I could see you crying and I knew you were so proud of me. This is one of the biggest accomplishes in my life.
In my lowest point was after high school. At this time I nearly took my own life and you were there to stop me and you were by my side, you never gave up on me. You told me to believe in myself and I will succeed in life.
Reaching adulthood, we still argue and fight like all parents and children. But we forget about it half an hour later. We spend more time talking and doing things together than we ever did.
We have spent so much time together now. You are a strong woman and won't let anyone or anything stand in your way. Even though we fight and argue I know you still love me.
You have inspired me in so many ways. You have made me be the person I am, you have me confident, you have always believed in me. Even at my lowest point, you were there to cheer me up. You made me a better and stronger person.
In the future I want you to be able to inspire my children, I want them to know what we have been through all the good and the bad. I want to teach my future children what you taught me.
No matter what happens you have made me a strong, independent, intelligent, and a kind person. You have raised me to the best version of me. You are smart, courageous, strong-minded, resilient, and most importantly inspiring, I could not imagine you not being in my life.
Thank you for everything you have done and I Love You
Jordan
