Mirror In The Sun

A Tale of generational Wisdom

By Michael Itodo AgboPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

There was an old, worn-out farmhouse in a peaceful, charming town tucked deep in the countryside. This farmhouse was more than simply a house; it was a museum of family history and a physical reminder of the generations who had called its worn-out walls home and shared their lives with it. An antique mirror that had been handed down through the ages was at the heart of this historical treasure trove.

Beyond its reflecting surface, the lovely old mirror carried mysteries. More than just one's reflection may be seen in its glass when the sun's gentle rays caught it just right. It revealed the experiences and knowledge of the ancestors who had previously looked into it.

The Greenfield family had owned the farmhouse for more than a century, and it had gotten stronger and more full of memories with each succeeding generation. The farmhouse had just been given to Emily Greenfield, a lively young woman in her twenties, by her grandmother Abigail. Given that Emily had only recently lost her cherished grandmother, it was a bittersweet inheritance.

When Emily was dusting the old mirror one lovely morning, she observed something unusual. The mirror appeared to shimmer and give off a calming, welcoming radiance. It appeared to be begging her to take a closer look. She leaned closer and looked at her reflection with interest.

Emily's reflection started to transform and morph as the sunshine poured in through the glass. It changed into a picture of a lady dressed elegantly in attire from a bygone era. The woman's voice rang in Emily's head, and her eyes revealed wisdom much beyond her years.

I'm Elizabeth Greenfield, your great-great-grandmother, she said, her voice soft as a whisper. "Dear Emily," she said. When I was your age, I used to reside in this home.

Emily was taken aback. She was familiar with her forebears thanks to family tales and old photos, but she had never felt such a strong connection. Elizabeth continued by telling stories of her early life, the challenges she encountered, and the lessons she discovered. Emily paid close attention as she listened, realizing that she was watching history come to life rather than just hearing a story.

In the days that followed, Emily kept coming back to the mirror, wanting to know more about the history of her family. She got to know her great-grandfather, a World War II veteran, her globetrotting aunt, and her grandfather, who had started the family business from nothing. Each tale contained a wealth of knowledge and lessons for life.

Emily learned that the mirror not only showed her ancestors' triumphs but also their failures, heartaches, and resiliency as she dug deeper into her family's past. She discovered that despite the difficulties, blunders, and losses they had encountered, they had always managed to grow stronger and wiser as a result.

These tales helped Emily to realize the actual worth of her heritage. She came to understand that the mirror served as a reminder of her family's steadfast resilience as well as being a magical relic. She learned from it that her forefathers' lessons were ageless and that the past might serve as a teacher.

In ways she never anticipated, Emily was inspired by her newly discovered link to her family's past. She had a strong sense of duty to protect the farmhouse and the mirror for upcoming generations. She also discovered how to cherish life's small pleasures, face obstacles with grace, and carry on her ancestors' traditions of fortitude and knowledge. Her life never remained thesame, wishing that other young ladies would be as opportuned as she was, to have access to the wisdom of her ancestor in this present world.
