Lost and Found

When all else is lost the future still remains.

1.Lost and Found

In the heart of a bustling city, Sarah stumbled upon a weathered journal on a park bench. Its pages, filled with handwritten musings and sketches, revealed a person's inner world. Sarah felt a connection to the anonymous author and began reading voraciously, as if a portal to another life had opened.

Days turned into weeks as Sarah immersed herself in the journal's tales of love, adventure, and heartbreak. She laughed and cried, feeling as if she had gained a friend in those faded pages. One entry spoke of a hidden cafe that served the best cherry pie; intrigued, Sarah embarked on a quest to find it.

After searching high and low, she stumbled upon a cozy cafe tucked away down a narrow alley. The aroma of freshly baked cherry pie wafted through the air. Sarah hesitated, then entered, and found herself face to face with the journal's author.

A young woman, with eyes filled with recognition, approached her. "You found my journal," she said, her voice a mixture of surprise and delight.

Touched by the serendipity, Sarah explained how the journal had touched her life. The two shared stories, realizing they had more in common than they could have imagined. As time passed, their chance encounter blossomed into an enduring friendship, proving that sometimes the most unexpected discoveries could lead to the most meaningful connections.

And so, amidst the busy city, two strangers turned friends, united by a lost journal and their shared love for cherry pie, began a new chapter of their lives together.

2.Terminal Diagnosis

I asked my husband:

"If I were diagnosed with a terminal illness, would you try to treat me?"

My husband, almost drifting into sleep, mumbled, "Don't talk nonsense... I'd even exhaust all our resources to treat you!"

I followed up, "And if it were you?"

He replied, "In that case, I wouldn't seek treatment. You'd be left alone, and making money isn't easy."

Reflection:

In one's lifetime, encountering a love where two people truly understand and support each other is incredibly rare.

Besides parents, having someone love you as much as their own life is a remarkable stroke of luck.

May you win the heart of one person and remain inseparable until the end of your days.

3.Cancellation

An elderly lady came to cancel her husband's household registration.

She asked me cautiously, "Miss, can you not take back my old man's ID? Sometimes, I just want to look at it to catch a glimpse of him."

Later, I didn't take it back. I just cut off the bottom right corner to invalidate it, then returned it to the old lady.

Reflection:

As Yu Qiuyu said:

"When the leaves turn yellow, I'll wait for you under the tree; when the moon wanes, I'll wait for you on the fifteenth day; as we grow old, I'll wait for you in the next life."

May we have years to look back upon, and may we share a deep affection until our hair turns white.

3.Thank You

After my parents' divorce, I stayed with my mother.

When my father started his new family and had another daughter, I began feeling like I was superfluous. Even if it was difficult, I was determined not to cause trouble for him.

Later, there was something I needed his help with, and when it was resolved, I sent a text to my father saying thank you.

As I typed the words "thank you" in the text, I felt a pain in my heart like a cramp.

It took a while, but my father finally replied with just two words: "Silly goose!"

Reflection:

A parent's love never changes with the passing of time, nor does it fade with changes in circumstances.

Sometimes, that internal resistance we feel is actually just making things difficult for ourselves.

Acceptance and understanding can reveal that love has never really left.
