The Journey to Goodbye
The sun set against the horizon, the cold should have begun to set in. Not this day. The air kept its warmth, Frank Moses watched the sun fall. Comfortably sat in his rocking chair, back and forth, he rocked. It was something of relaxation for him, utter silence tranquilized his surroundings. If not working or caring for his wife, Frank found his chair the one place to be. He could admire nature, their house sat in the center of a wide-spread field that they owned, three acres of green grass.

Devin
When I was fifteen, I lost my younger sister. She lost her battle to cancer... leukemia, to be exact. Many people know that as a fact but I keep so many details of that year bottled up. Mainly for my sanity, to be honest. I was young and it was hard to cope with... Most days I still struggle with my emotions. I want to tell this story in hopes that it touches someone and helps them. Cancer affects almost everyone in one way or another and the loss from it can leave permanent scars. Please read this with an open mind and heart.

Keep It Together, Momma
Sitting here in front of this bright red carry-on bag half filled with the boys’ clothes, I can’t help but freeze. This colorful array of Captain America, Ninja Turtles, Minecraft, Batman, and just about any popular theme to the five-to-seven year old peer group has caught my stare. Tiny size six khaki shorts folded up nice and neat in my lap just can’t seem to find their way inside the suitcase. My arms can’t move. My body won’t respond. I can’t even manage to blink as I feel every ounce of my being want to shatter into a billion sharp pieces.

The Turning Stair
High on giggles, little legs scrambled up the smoothed castle steps, his six-year-old ears refusing to hear my entreaty as I climb behind and his sandals clatter away ahead around the turning stair. Dust and summer sun flicker beyond my eye as I reach for the safety of cool stone, worn smooth by medieval hand and grasping tourist touch.

Nightlight Comics
It was a Friday night and Riley was alone as always. Nights like this she slipped into her nostalgic memories of childhood. She would remember being in pink princess pajamas sitting in her twin bed with a sheer, purple canopy covering her face, waiting for her father. Her dad would come in with a wide smile on his face, comics in his hand, and switch Riley’s light source from her big light to a night light. She’d giggle because she knew she could count on him to tuck her in every night and it was the highlight of her day.

Lucky One
If you search mother in the dictionary, what does it say? “A woman in relation to her child or children.” Although that is true, a mother is way more than that. A mother is someone who loves you unconditionally. She will put you ahead of herself without hesitation or questions asked. A mother takes care of her children and provides for them. But sometimes, that last part doesn’t always work out that way.

Unending Pain Part Two
The unending pain that I felt after losing my daughter, never seemed to offer me a light at the end of the tunnel. I had made all the necessary calls the day I held her for the last time. I notified friends, family, my job, and my daughter's school. Our family was few at this point in my life, but they were all shocked and swearing to be there for whatever I needed. What I needed though, they could never give me. What I needed was my daughter back and alive. That is what I needed and wanted and nobody could give me that.

Domestic Violence Shelter for Those Escaping Families
Domestic violence is a reality in the world today, but not everybody has the strength to get away from an abusive family, especially if you have a disability. I want to help disabled people on SSI start businesses, in order to get off of SSI. This can be hard sometimes because some of us need to maintain our benefits still. Why I want an MBA is for this purpose, to help disabled people start their own businesses. SSI is helpful to those of us with illnesses or disabilities. I ask the current administration to not touch the system since many need it. You said you wouldn’t, so for once, live up to your promises.

Mommy Not So Dearest Part 3
Learning just how deep all the hiding and the lies went with my mother, couldn’t have come at a worse time in my life. We were all still grieving the traumatic loss of my dad. Never be the type to keep her opinions to herself, the most recent elections were going on with Trump and Hillary in the running.

Things No One Told Me About the First Trimester….
We found out I was pregnant on the 16th of May, after enjoying a gorgeous last minute 10 days in Turkey so I could recover from an acute hamstring injury without feeling TOO depressed, I couldn’t help but be slightly confused by the absence of my period.
