My Life as Momma
This whole blog thing is definitely new to me. I have noticed I find myself questioning what to write about all the time. I question myself about why I wanted to do this in the first place or if I even made the right decision in beginning it. If you haven’t already caught on I question myself a lot… about pretty much everything. I lack confidence in myself in all areas of my life except about being a mom. I have known I was meant to be a mom since I was a very young girl. It’s all I could dream about. Of course, I had other dreams that every little kid has like being a lawyer or a doctor or a famous singer. But, I knew I would be a mom and I would be a damn good one. At least in my opinion.

Products Every New Mom Needs Before Baby Is Born
Whether you're feeling ready, excited, terrified, just plain tired, or a combination of these and more, you're going to be meeting your baby in the real world soon. You want to be as prepared as possible, so you're going to need to be reading baby books, seeking advice from friends and family who have gone through it already, baby-proofing the house, and, of course, making sure you have all of the products every new mom needs. You're not going to want to be scrambling all over town with a newborn, trying to find all the products you didn't know you'd need, or worse—having to navigate new parenthood without them. It's going to be hard either way, but the more prepared you are for babies and their baby things, the smoother those first few weeks and months will go.

Reflections of the Past
In just a few weeks I'll be 30. For some of you, 30 was a long time ago. For others, it's far off in the distance. The funny thing about turning 30 is that I don't "feel" 30. Hell, when I'm clean-shaven my baby-face is reminiscent of Milo Ventimiglia's "young Jack" on the hit show, "This is Us." Sure, my right shoulder pops in the morning—too many years on the mound—and my ankle aches when it's cold—football injury—but, I still don't think of myself as 30.

Losing My Best Friend
At exactly 6:15 AM, I hear my alarm going off, practically giving me a heart attack. I open my eyes from a very deep sleep that I was enjoying every minute of. I know it’s time to get up for school but my body is telling me to stay right where I am, nice and warm in my bed, wrapped around inside my blankets. I hear my mother's footsteps coming up the stairs which means it is really time to get up. Before she starts yelling, I get up out of my bed, freezing because I forgot to turn my air conditioner off last night. I run downstairs to the bathroom to get ready but my mom stops me before I get to the door.

These Lies That Bind
My eyes blinked open; I knew it was the middle of the night by the black blanket that covers the sky. It’s sprinkled with diamonds, they mimic stars. Disrupted sleep occurs due to these sheets for walls. Drunken giggles echo through the space between me and the horny couple in the other room.

My Child Is Not Broken
"She doesn't look autistic," says the well-meaning person. "If I didn't know, I wouldn't even be able to tell," she says again as to lend me some sort of comfort in the appearance of my child. "What does 'autistic' look like?" I wonder to myself as I smile and say something passive such as "well she is". I know they mean the best. I know they want to help. They don't see her cry and cover her ears in shear terror because she can't find the things she had strategically placed. They don't notice her, outwardly shutter at the thought of a change in our everyday routine. I do. I am here when the dark clouds roll in and the ear-piercing screams begin. I have watched her watch 18 hours of a single Netflix show and endured hell when they removed it. I have sung the same song or commercial jingle over and over until I wanted to poke pencils deep into my ears to make it stop. But no, she doesn't LOOK autistic.

A Little About Me
New day. I'm feeling good, overall. I have three boys, 15, 12 ½, and 11. I am truly blessed to have been with my husband for the years we have been together. We met when I was 18, fresh out of high school. Well, I was about to graduate when we met, but we started dating that fall when I started college.
