KEM reveals baby no. 8 is a girl with sonogram video: ‘Another little miracle’

The R&B singer shared the update on social media days after announcing he and his wife, Erica Owens, are expecting

KEM is a staple at music festivals all around the country. His cool, not showy presence is a favorite amongst grown folks. You can almost picture the silk shirt sets and loafers worn and coolers toted in SUVs to an area with folding chairs and fans.

His professional success may be understated, but his strength as a father is to be admired.

As he looks to be a father of eight children, he has the chance to channel those dollars he’s earned to cover the costs of tuition for all of them.

He is comfortable with being a daddy. The balance of stardom on the road and family life is a bit of struggle but he nurtures his teenagers Alexandria and Laylah and toddlers and the one on the way.

KEM has been able to be an ideal father and someone of whom his kids can be proud. The cool, jazzy gentleman in the microphone powers through the sets he performs across the nation.

He absolutely enjoys being able to do his work and care for the young people in his life. In actuality, he’s had five children with his current wife Erica Owens and two from a previous relationship Owens has two children from a different arrangement also.

But that’s the power of a business that is notoriously difficult to navigate professional life and personal responsibilities.

The crooner seems to be able to balance his lifestyles with flair and even a flourish of happiness. That’s the way it ought to be. Too many horror stories about stars of page, stage, screen, and the audio booth have emerged. Some kids, though they never had to ask for anything in the world, felt resentment for their parent’s success.

This is discouraging but KEM figured it out through reason and selfishness. He cares about his wife and kids, therefore he would not make sacrifices. Quite the contrary. All he wants to do is sing and make music and look after his family.

A valiant act, KEM brings his soul to his songs and his household. As he collects his earnings from his tour dates, he knows he’s providing for his loved ones. It’s bliss to be able to love your work and share a romantic relationship and the offspring of such a union.

To consider his talent and his role as a father of nearly ten kids (as of this writing) as one in the same it is all about rationality and love. His embrace of his rational self-interest is what anchors him to the real world.

If he had not been a thinking man, he would’ve never been able to love his partner or their blended family. His song “Promise to Love” shows his commitment to what he wants out of his relationship and his life.

With a commitment of a work horse and the presence of a show horse, he has the full-range to sire as many children as possible. The power he shows in his voice is the same power he wields with helping his children with math problems and reading assignments.

For him to cherish Erica Owens is a splendid way for him to view the world. They are committed to each other. Like his duet with Chrisette Michele “If it’s Love,” he seeks for it to last forever. Now, he is in his second relationship with children. Will he be able to find his way forever with his current relationship?

Signs point to yes. He’s been in the music business for over two decades. He has the power and conviction to bring his marriage of business and familial life to a close harmony.
