Where do I begin? My Mam (Irish for Mom) intuitively inspired my life mission. I believe strongly that we choose our parents, as they are often our greatest teachers in life - sometimes more nurturing and others more through challenges. They teach us what our soul needs to grow, as do many other impactful people in our lives, but I would like to focus on the incredible woman who has been there for me through thick and thin.

At a young age my Mam had the wisdom to share breathwork and mindfulness practices with me (body-scans), to support me with the anxiety of being a very sensitive child who felt it all and could feel too much in an uneasy home environment. Not only did this tool support me then, through my early adulthood, but it has also inspired my life work. I am an Expert Registered Yoga + Children's Yoga Teacher (ERYT, RCYT) and Craniosacral + Somatoemotional Release Healer. Because of what my wise Mama shared with me, I am inspired to continue to empower others and in particular children with these tools and more so they can be embodied, understand their emotions and process them in healthy ways. I have being doing this work for over 10 years now, and coaching children and adults for over 20 years. Her inspiration led me to create the gloWithin Registered Children's Yoga School (RCYS), the gloWithin app, the studio I closed during the pandemic and much more. I can't thank her enough for having the wisdom to share these simple tools with me when it wasn't common to learn these, so that I can support and empower others. I know first hand what a difference having these tools has made to my life and ability to make healthy life choices.

That is just the tip of the ice-berg... this incredible woman I am so fortunate to have as a mother and friend, also showed me the strength to persevere in the face of adversity without giving up faith, yet having the wisdom to step back and look at the bigger picture. She taught me to focus on our blessings, be conscious of the use of your energy, and never compromise your integrity... even if that meant in her case being the sole provider of 3 children. She encouraged us to remain curious and creative, to embrace the opportunities that come our way and the value of a supportive educational environment. My Mam nurtured our love for music, nature, culture, humanity, and life long learning. She inspired us to listen to and lead with our hearts, in balance with our mind.

Through every challenge I faced on my unconventional path, she provided support and a safe space to turn. Being very logical and rational (as one would expect of a Forensic Accountant), she has been the sounding board I have needed.

This incredibly thoughtful woman I am fortunate to call my Mam makes every moment for us as special as she can, showering us with her love. I couldn't ask for a more inspiring woman to be my mother. Like any relationship, we have our times when we disagree or unintentionally hurt each other, but our bond goes far beyond that and we know that nothing will destroy that.

When I was born, she said she knew I was her angel sent to care for her. She has said she looks up to me for my wisdom, intuition and ability to persevere - qualities I greatly admire in her. Just as we choose our parents to set the foundation for our growth in this lifetime, I also believe our children can be our greatest teachers, especially when we nurture their innocence and the pure expression of who they truly are. She showed us this love, allowing us to be ourselves completely with guidance. This is part of why I do the work I do, and encourage others to also connect with their Inner Child to find their true essence and to connect to the peace, love and bliss within. The relationship and growth potential for both parent and child, is beyond measure. As a parent, we recognize and deeply feel the incredible responsibility we hold to help honour and guide the life of another as best as we can. As I am about to become a Mom for the second time, I can't wait to meet our new little soul and watch our children flourish in their full expression. I only hope I can be half the mom I have been so blessed to have in my life.

Thank you Mammy for guiding us with grace and inspiring me on my journey.

Love always,

Katie
