
As the technology is advanced, the number of diseases is also increased in ratio. Diabetes is a disease that is most common nowadays and affects health. It starts at any age. Both environmental and hereditary factor contributes an important role in diabetes. The studies show how diabetes affects the life of diabetic patients and which coping style they have to adopt to avoid diabetes. Quality of life means the person is satisfied with his/her or not. Physical self-care, coping mechanisms, and quality of life are variables used in this study in which physical self-care and coping mechanisms are independent variables that affect the quality of life.
Physical Self-Care
Physical self-care includes physical actions such as diet and exercise that guide people to stay healthy, energetic, and enjoy life (OSC, 2018). Physical self-care define as good healthy eating and take a good quantity of water like ½ percent of your body weight and obtains your steps in everyday life (pett, 2019). Physical self-care is defined as the motion of the body, well-being, food, relaxation, sexual requirements, and physical contact. Physical self-care also involves to in touch with nature good sleep, drinking a good quantity of water and air, and don’t spend much time with the phone ( Taylor, 2018).
Domains of Self-Care
The self-care behaviors help to cope with diabetes to live a healthy and active life. It is necessary to follow physical self-care behavior such as diet and exercise. The method people use to maintain healthy and happy life and take preservation from illness. It also includes the knowledge of physical and mental states such as cholesterol level and blood pressure level, touch with healthy screening, and knowing your body mass BMI. (WHO, 1998).
Socialization
It is the main contributor to self-care and is important for healthy psychological well-being sometimes. Close relationships are important for healthy psychological well-being. The best method used to grow and manage close relationships is to give energy and time when constructing your relationship with others (Urxberson & Montez, 2010). According to Taylore (2010), social self-care is defined as having a caring, trusted group of relations, required when needed. To have supportive and trusted people around you make a feeling of closeness and integration also involved in groups that are outward from your work, contact new people and make a trip plan with family and friends, and always remain with people who make good feelings to you.
Mental Self-Care
Which is defined as the activities that keep the person mentally healthy such as puzzles, inspirational movies, and books that fresher the mind (Pillai, 2011).
Spiritual Self-Care
This domain involves religion, prayer, nurturing, and any activity that guides the development of a sense that understanding the spirit or relation with the universe (Koening,2015). According to Jane Taylore (2018), spiritual self-care includes the set of ideologies and values that are important and lead your life and intervening.
Emotional Self-Care
Which can be defined as the actions that guide to show and express emotions on the daily bases. In spare time the activities perform to measure emotions (Izard, 2009). Emotional self-care includes increasing emotional learning, directing emotion, increasing compassion, handling stress efficiently, and developing sympathy for self and others (Taylore, 2018).
Psychological Self-Care
It is defined as experiencing new activities, being innovative, employing significant thoughts, involving internal inspiration, and using mindfulness (Taylore, 2018).
Professional Self-Care
It is defined as distributing your powers, inputs, and duties, clear professional limits, and understanding the aim of your role (Taylore, 2018).
Environmental Self-Care
This domain includes the well-ordered; avoiding noisy confused activities, work and house environment, having neat dresses, and well-arranged source of transport (Taylor, 2018).
Financial Self-Care
This domain is defined as the responsibilities with your bankroll such as costs, earning, security, preserving, and also having a sensible relationship with money (Taylore, 2018).
