AISHA'S TRAGEDY

BOKO HARAM KILLED MY PARENT

By Samson Viranah Edison (Edvira)Published 3 years ago 3 min read

Once upon a time in Borno State, Nigeria, there lived a young girl named Aisha. She was just sixteen years old and hailed from the town of Bama in the Bama Local Government Area. Aisha was the only child of her parents and had enjoyed a loving and carefree childhood until the fateful year of 2017.

In that year, Aisha's world turned upside down when tragedy struck her family. Boko Haram militants attacked their village, and her parents, innocent victims caught in the crossfire, lost their lives. The sudden loss of her beloved parents shattered Aisha's heart and left her emotionally scarred. As she tried to come to terms with the horrifying reality, she also had to face the harsh truth that her once comfortable life was now gone.

With no relatives to turn to and no means to sustain herself, Aisha found herself alone in the world. The weight of her circumstances bore down heavily on her slender shoulders. She was left with no choice but to fend for herself, living day by day, seeking shelter wherever she could find it. Aisha's spirit was crushed, and all hope seemed lost.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months as Aisha struggled to survive. She would toil under the scorching sun, taking on odd jobs in exchange for meager wages just to put food on the table. The world seemed cold and unfeeling, and Aisha often wondered if her life would ever improve.

One fateful day, as Aisha was on her daily quest for sustenance, her path crossed with a middle-aged man named Bagana. Bagana was a Kanuri man, approximately forty-five years old, and had been watching Aisha from afar. He had noticed the young girl's plight and felt a pang of sympathy for her difficult circumstances.

Approaching Aisha with a kind smile, Bagana offered her a helping hand. He explained that he was looking for a second wife and that he could provide her with shelter, food, and security. Although Aisha was hesitant at first, weighed down by the cultural implications and her own reservations, the desperation she felt nudged her towards accepting Bagana's offer.

Thus, Aisha became Bagana's second wife. While the arrangement was far from ideal, it offered her a lifeline. She no longer had to worry about where her next meal would come from or where she would lay her head at night. Despite the substantial age gap between them, Bagana treated Aisha with kindness and respect, allowing her to slowly heal from the wounds of her past.

As time went on, Aisha's resilience and determination began to resurface. She enrolled herself in evening classes, seizing the opportunity to continue her education. With each passing day, Aisha's confidence grew, and her dreams of a better future were reignited. She realized that she possessed a strength within her that could overcome any adversity.

Aisha's newfound sense of purpose led her to explore various skills and talents. She discovered a passion for sewing and began creating beautiful garments, which she sold in the local market. Word of her talent spread, and soon she had a small but loyal customer base. Through hard work and perseverance, Aisha started to earn a modest income, slowly gaining financial independence.

With each achievement, Aisha's self-esteem blossomed, and her mental scars began to heal. She discovered a community of like-minded individuals who supported her dreams and aspirations. Aisha's life, once filled with despair and sorrow, transformed into one brimming with hope and opportunity.

As the years passed, Aisha became a beacon of inspiration for those around her. She refused to let the horrors of her past define her, instead choosing to create a future filled with purpose and joy. Aisha's journey from a broken and helpless girl to a strong and resilient woman serves as a testament to the power of the human spirit.

In the end, Aisha's story became one of triumph over tragedy, of resilience in the face of adversity. Her determination and perseverance enabled her to rise above her circumstances and build a life filled with hope and happiness. And as she stood on the threshold of her bright future, Aisha knew that even the darkest of nights could not extinguish the light within her.
