One-liner: The Tamil wedding ceremony was a beautiful event that celebrated the love between two people and the blessings of their families and friends, sealing a promise of forever and a beautiful start to the rest of their lives.

The sky was painted a deep orange as the sun set on a warm summer day, its rays illuminating the lush green trees of the nearby forest and the glistening lake as far as the eye could see. The gentle breeze brought a cool relief from the heat, inviting all its onlookers to take in the beauty of the mesmerizing moment. That’s when she saw it, the grand old building that housed the afternoon’s festivities - the Tamil wedding ceremony.

The bride and the groom, dressed in their glowing white attire, made for a beautiful pair. Everything about them was radiant, from the bright silk sarees and gold jewelry to the look of genuine joy in their eyes. To the guests, it was like witnessing the love-struck scene from a romance movie.

The ceremony began with the mother of the groom, performing the traditional Kashi Yathrai, a ritual that involved binding the bride and groom’s hands together with a white thread as a bond of union. Prayers were said and blessings received, as the two were ushered into the wedding hall, which was lavishly decorated with colorful flowers and creative decorations.

Next came the Kanyadaanam, when the bride’s parents blessed the couple and gave their daughter over to the groom. This was followed by the Arathi, when the priest made offerings to the fire as a way to honor the gods. The final and most important ritual, the MangalaSnikshanam marked the beginning of the marital relationship between the bride and groom.

The ceremony took a joyous turn as the couple, their families and friends then moved to the stage for the ThaaliKattu, a symbolic thread tying ceremony signifying the love and bond that was being shared between the bride and the groom. After that, the couple was welcomed to the married life with a shower of rose petals and most importantly with the traditional ValaiKappuKattu, the application of turmeric paste on the forehead of the bride that symbolizd the protection of the couple.

The wedding continued with the newlyweds being wished a sweet life of togetherness and joy, as they both drank tender coconut, a symbol of the fresh start they were making. As the groom circled his bride seven times, a traditional song was recited by the priest. This was followed by a feast and the musical beats of the drums, as family and friends celebrated the coming together of these two individuals.

It felt like a dream come true, and right then and there the two were declared a married couple. The brides wish finally came true; her dream of entering the bond of matrimony was sealed with her special day. As the sun bid ado, the newlyweds made their way home, content and ready to start their life and to build a future together.

The Tamil wedding ceremony was a beautiful event that celebrated both the love between two people and the blessings of their families and friends. It brought happiness, joy and a new promise of forever – a beautiful start, to the rest of their lives.
