10 Awesome Tips From the Mandalorian to Make You an Amazing Parent
How to become a better parent by following 10 easy tips about parenthood

Parenting can be the most challenging and most rewarding task in the Universe. Any parent knows how raising a child becomes our ultimate and universal quest. The Mandalorian has learned this the hard way.
Hereunder, you will find out how the Mandalorian creed has ten powerful commandments about becoming a better parent. Our hero is Din Djarin, a bounty-hunter Mandalorian. A foundling of the Clone Wars fostered and trained in somewhat the spartan way by a creed of outcasts living in exile because the Empire attacked them during the Great Purge.
We have a glimpse at the Mandalorian way of life in the first episode of season one. Din Djarin hunts down wanted criminals all across the galaxy, but that’s about to change.
The preamble to a radical change from relative order to chaos
The Mandalorian’s way of life will change forever when he accepts a job from a mysterious client. That task is no ordinary bounty. Din Djarin will find out that it involves kidnapping a small alien, referred to as The Child.
Mando is an orphan, and even his battle-hardened heart falls for the foundling. Din Djarin breaks his solemn oath to carry out the bounty and refuses to deliver the little green guy to the dreary client. Thus, embarking on a journey throughout the galaxy to take The Child home. By doing so, the Mandalorian goes against his creed and everything he knows. Hence, becoming a pariah even for the members of his rogue tribe.
Your ultimate lesson as a parent
There is no creed, no mission, no greater love than the love of a parent for their child. Hence, The Mandalorian allegorically depicts our life when we transition to becoming a parent. From that moment on, the rebel days are gone. Mando is no longer merely looking up over his shoulder in search of imminent danger to himself.
There’s a little life spawning, and now that little guy is the most significant VIP in the Universe. Altruism should be a trait of parenthood. This experience can sometimes be nerve-racking, and there is no Spartan-like training that can prepare you to become a parent.
Disney’s life lessons
Disney has a long tradition of producing life lessons-based narratives. So, it’s only natural how some central themes in The Mandalorian are parenting and fatherhood.
Mandalorian story ark has circled these topics during season one. Now, season two has expanded the father-son relationship dynamics between Din Djarin and The Child.
Before I had my child, I thought I knew all the boundaries of myself, that I understood the limits of my heart. It’s extraordinary to have all those limits thrown out, to realize your love is inexhaustible.”
–Uma Thurman
Hereafter, I compiled ten powerful tips for better parenting taken from ‘The Mandalorian.’
#1. Recognize how your child is a sentient being
We often forget how children have their mood swings, their cravings, and urges. This happens the most in the early stages, especially at the point The Child is right now. Any sense of control over a baby will crumble when he leaves the cradle and starts discovering the world.
Parents shouldn’t panic when they see a child tasting everything as the foundling does with Frog Lady’s eggs. Grogu doesn’t abide by our moral and social standards. Hence, please don’t judge a child from your ethical point of view. Children have to gain experience before they can sort out right from wrong.
#2. Remain calm
Like The Child, kids are still learning to control their “superpowers” and don’t know how to deal with their overwhelming emotions.
Hence, please follow the Mandalorian code and remain calm. Your child most likely isn’t telekinetic and capable of lifting a giant Mudhorn. Yet, they can amaze you and be nerve-racking sometimes.
#3. Lavish your children with love and affection
The affection between the Mandalorian and The Child is clear to all. The warrior that never takes his helmet off is always caring for The Child. Taking his tiny hand and holding him out of harm’s way. These simple gestures will promote self-esteem in children and strengthen parent-child bonds.
Don’t be afraid of showing your children how much you love them; by doing this, you will improve communication and prevent future problems. Thus, make the most of your daily routines with your child by incorporating simple signs of affection. Hug, hold, and love more.
If Mando does it, why can’t you?
#4. Embrace change
The Child, like any other child, grows fast and has become more active during this season. When a child takes its first steps, it all goes fast. Baby-steps will grow into giant leaps, and parenting becomes all about keeping up with those changes.
#5. Empower your child
Kids have an intrinsic tendency to egocentrism. This psychological trait is an ancestral self-preservation mechanism. Thus, remain open-minded and let your child feel bossy from time to time.
They need to learn how to make choices on their own and grow self-confidence.
We can watch this in play in the series during episode seven when poisonous flying creatures wound Greef Karga.
Karga is succumbing to the poison; Cara tries to help but fails. Everyone else is standing there helpless. Then, The Child steps in and uses the Force to heal Karga.
Allowing your child to take action develops authority and autonomy. This empowerment can be decisive in the future.
#6. Let your kids fail and make mistakes
Grownups make mistakes; why shouldn’t children learn from them. This is how they will learn to distinguish right from wrong. The Child is probably experiencing a tremendous metabolic outburst. As the Force grows in him, this should also be draining his energy.
Hence, he should always be famished. That’s why he craves the eggs of Frog Lady. Later on, he will do far worse with the alien spider eggs when he went exploring alone, hungry and unaware of the risk ahead.
He hasn’t still learned his lesson, and he craves those eggs. This is fine; we have to let them fail.
#7. Pay attention to achievements
Kids crave to be the center of attention, and they love to be shown affection by their parents.
The Child is like any other kid, and he loves to show off. Either by using the Force to make a Mudhorn levitate to save his “father.” Or, when seeing Mando arm-wrestle Cara Dune, he uses the choke’s ability almost to strangle her.
#8. Join the imitation game
Children are behavioral sponges, as they learn by imitation. Kids will watch your every move. This is obvious, particularly for babies and very young children. Thus, parental behavior proves to be far more powerful than words.
During episode 10, “The Passenger,” we notice how The Child is always looking at Mando. We can feel the parent-child bond between them. The Child is observing Mando and finding out how to respond in various circumstances.
Thus, sharing our daily routines with our children provides valuable life lessons.
#9. Go outdoors daily
Children nowadays grow up almost in a safe cocoon. Almost isolated from the outside world and over-protected. Children should play outside! So that they have the chance to experience the world, they will live in for the rest of their lives.
Mando and The Child travel across the Galaxy. We see them go from a harsh desert world orbiting twin suns in the galaxy’s Outer Rim, like Tatooine. To a terrestrial ice-covered planet like Maldo Kreis.
#10. Co-sleep with your child
The last commandment is the one more open to discussion. Nonetheless, co-sleep has become more accepted nowadays than it was in the past. Now, we have become more aware that children who co-sleep with their parents can become more independent.
Mando hasn’t read any scientific peer-reviewed studies about the importance of co-sleep. Yet, he enjoys co-sleeping with The Child because he cares!
“Most things are good, and they are the strongest things, but there are evil things too, and you are not doing a child a favor by trying to shield him from reality. The important thing is to teach a child that good can always triumph over evil.” –Walt Disney
