KICK-START:

There was a man called “Johnson” in the city of Port Harcourt, Rivers state. He was a brilliant and intelligent man with so much dreams to achieve.

During Secondary school days, he has a dream of becoming a First-class Mechanical Engineer after university, he was so passionate in his dream and he was praying and hoping very strong, till his fellow classmates started calling him an Engineer and he was so happy with the new name “Engineer Johnson”.

After Johnson’s Secondary School Level, he started experiencing tough and difficult challenges as his parent were unable to push him to a higher institution, Johnson didn’t understand that life is more than how he assume.

He called out his parent for meeting and said “Daddy, Mummy, I’m done with Secondary school and I want to become a First-Class Mechanical Engineer, I don’t want to kill my dreams please”

His parent responded in a weeping sound “My son we know, this was not our plans for you”, but since you said your dream is to become a First-Class Mechanical Engineer, let me talk to one of my very good friend who is a Motor Mechanic Engineer at the market square junction, at least you’ll still have a practical mechanical knowledge while waiting for us to struggle and gather money for your Higher Institution.

Johnson responded angrily “NO I don’t want to be a local mechanic that will be looking like a mad man and all dirty, I will rather wait till whenever the money will be ready, I can’t do that.

Johnson the Wasted Dreamer

After 3 years Johnson’s mates were already doing well with local skills and the opportune ones were also doing great academically, while Johnson was all waiting and hoping for his parent to work and provide for his education.

Other opportunities were coming to Johnson through his parent and his school mates but he rejected and stands on becoming a professional Mechanical Engineer (First-Class).

About 2 years later, Johnson lost his dear Dad through a motor accident while hustling as a taxi driver to save money for his education and the family, now all the little savings that his father was able to gather was used for the burial arrangement and nothing was left for Johnson’s education, that ended up his dreams of becoming a First-class Mechanical Engineer according to his hopeful reasoning.

Few years later Johnson’s school best-friend who was also in the same dream of becoming a First-class Mechanical Engineer came to visit him with a very big brand-new car and all looking nice, Johnson was shocked and sadly walk close to his friend with mouth opening and looking all poor.

His best-friend ask in a surprising tune” What happen Johnson?” how are you doing in your mechanical field? did you give up? Johnson reply with sadness “My Bro life didn’t treat me as I wanted” I ended up becoming nothing and useless, I didn’t have any support nor sponsor to further my education just like you.

They both sat down and his best-friend started telling him his own life story, how he struggles and suffered to become a first-class Mechanical Engineer that he is today. The young man told him how he started from selling pure water to Bread and gather money to pay his training Fee as a Motorcycle engineer in the workshop, before he was able to open his own repairing workshop, from there he started saving and further his education and just graduated last year.

The young man told Johnson that the money he’s spending today, is all coming from his mechanical workshop he started before going to school, he told him that right now he’s training 6 apprentices in his workshop and they’re doing great.

His Best-friend also tell him that sometimes in life one has to start somewhere before getting to elsewhere. Johnson didn’t expect life in such a way that he experiences. Everything was becoming too late for him, he was really confused and ashamed of himself, upon all the available opportunities that he would have used to acquire his dreams but he rejected.

Johnson cried out and shouted “What a WASTED DREAM”.
