Studying at a university ranked in the global top 200 is a real advantage. The University of Exeter gives international students, especially from Bangladesh, a clear way to begin their academic journey in the UK.

The University of Exeter Foundation Year Programme bridges the gap for those who may not meet standard entry qualifications. It supports learners with focused teaching, Gold-rated learning quality, and flexible start dates. Once completed, students can move straight into a bachelor’s degree.

Foundation Year Overview

A foundation course builds essential knowledge and skills needed for university study. This includes how to write essays, manage time, take notes, and think critically. Most Foundation Year certificates are recognised worldwide.

Courses usually run between 2 to 4 terms, equal to about one academic year. These programmes are ideal for students who have taken a break in their studies, need extra support with English, or have qualifications that don’t match UK entry levels.

Finishing a Foundation Year successfully leads to a wide choice of undergraduate degrees. These programmes offer a quicker, more focused route to university entry compared to traditional study paths.

Why Choose Exeter

Exeter is a member of the Russell Group and holds a triple Gold rating for teaching and learning. It has earned a strong reputation in business education and continues to attract global students.

Ranked 170th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025), Exeter is one of the UK’s most respected institutions. Employers rate it highly too. The university sits in the top 10 for graduate employability in the UK (High Fliers Research 2024).

Students enjoy excellent academic and personal support. This includes help with accommodation, clubs, sports, and career planning. The Foundation Year equips students with the tools needed to progress smoothly into a full degree programme.

International students benefit from flexible start times in January, March, June, or September.

"Success for me means enjoying what I do and being recognised for it. Exeter's Foundation Programme gave me freedom to choose subjects I liked. The teachers were helpful and available, and the course included group work and writing research papers. I became more confident and would love to work with Exeter’s student team in future.
