How to Keep Your Mind Happy and Healthy Every Day

By Kabir BarelaPublished about a year ago 3 min read

What is Mental Health?

Let’s talk about something very important today — mental health. You might wonder what that means. Don’t worry, we’ll keep it super simple.

What is Mental Health?

Just like how your body can feel happy or tired, your mind also has feelings. Your mind is where you think, feel, and imagine. When your mind is healthy, you feel happy, calm, and can enjoy fun activities like playing games, learning new things, or spending time with friends and family. Sometimes, just like our body can get sick, our mind can feel not-so-good. That’s what we call a mental health problem.

Feeling Good in Your Mind

When your mind feels good, it’s like having a sunny day. You feel happy, you want to play, and everything seems fun. You can talk to people easily and solve little problems like sharing toys or finishing a tricky puzzle. Your mind is full of bright and cheerful thoughts when you feel good.

What Happens When Your Mind Feels Sad?

There are times when your mind might feel sad, upset, or even a bit scared. This happens to everyone, and it’s completely normal. Maybe you feel sad because your favorite toy broke, or your best friend couldn’t come over to play. It’s okay to feel that way. These feelings come and go, like rain on a cloudy day. But if the sadness sticks around for too long, it’s important to get some extra help to feel better again.

How Can We Keep Our Mind Happy?

Here are a few simple ways to make sure your mind stays healthy and happy:

1. Talk About Your Feelings: If you feel sad, upset, or angry, it helps to tell someone. You can talk to your parents, teachers, or anyone you trust. Talking about your feelings makes them easier to understand.

2. Play and Have Fun: Playing isn’t just fun, it helps your mind relax and feel happy. When you play, you forget about your worries and enjoy being in the moment.

3. Eat Healthy Foods: Just like your body needs good food to stay strong, your mind needs good food to feel happy. Eating fruits, vegetables, and drinking water helps you stay cheerful and full of energy.

4. Sleep Well: Sleeping is like giving your mind a break. After a good night’s sleep, your mind feels fresh and ready to take on the new day. Try to go to bed early so you can wake up feeling rested.

5. Do What You Love: Whether it’s drawing, reading books, or playing with your toys, doing what makes you happy is great for your mind. It helps you feel relaxed and joyful.

What to Do If You Don’t Feel Okay

Sometimes, even if you try to do all the right things, you might still feel sad or upset for a long time. That’s okay, and it’s important to let someone know. Think about how you would tell your parents if your tummy hurt. In the same way, if your mind feels sad for too long, it’s important to talk to someone who can help you.

There are people called doctors for the mind who are really good at helping when someone feels very sad or worried. They are called counselors or therapists. They are kind, and they know how to make you feel better by listening to your thoughts and feelings.

Being Kind to Others

Just like you have feelings, your friends and family have feelings too. Being kind to others makes their mind feel happy. Something as simple as saying thank you or sharing a toy can make someone feel better. When you’re kind, you make others feel good, and that makes your own mind feel happy too.

You Are Strong

Always remember, you are strong and brave. Your mind is amazing and can do so many great things. Even if you feel sad or upset sometimes, that’s okay. What’s important is knowing how to help your mind feel better again. You can always ask for help when you need it.

So, talk about your feelings, play, eat well, sleep, and be kind to others and yourself. These simple things help you have a healthy and happy mind. Think of your mind like a beautiful garden — take care of it, and it will bloom brightly every day.
