Freshman College Strategies
I can think back to last year at this time and the kind of stress I experienced was nothing compared to my first semester in college; from receiving college acceptance and denial letters, to preparing for the last set of ACT and SAT dates available, my whole high school career was less stressful then this semester. I went to a high school that did not operate like most since we used (unfortunately) the seven-period schedule, where we would spent the entire year with the same seven classes. That system personally didn't help me adjust to what college had in store, especially midterms and finals. In high school, finals week came around at the end of the year, sometimes in May, and our knowledge would be put to the test. However, my limited experiences were expanded! I will be giving some tips to help you succeed during the semester, midterms, and finals season and bypass that unnecessary stress:

College Students, Social Media, and What They Don’t Know
Living in the twenty-first century, technology is heavily used and depended on daily for basic needs, especially in college. While college students use this advanced technology for justified purposes such as to write papers, keep up with online work, and keep contact through email with their professors, there is damage that is created when we begin to talk about social media. College students have used social media for positive purposes such as keeping family updated about their progress or having a pen pal far across the globe to learn about a different culture, but glamorization of binge drinking alcohol is not one of them, yet it is so popular.

Things to Know Before Starting College
Media portrays college as a party ground, the best years of your life, the start of independence. While it can be true, college is difficult in a multitude of ways, financially, mentally, and physically. These are ten things that I have learned over my freshman year of college.

Surviving as a Third Year
The final year at university is the most important year. This is the year where you finally have to do that individual research project that can sway your final mark from a 2:2 to 1st class honour. However, how do you manage to do this, as well as other uni work, a part-time job, and a social life?

A New Perspective
As a freshman on a new school campus in a new state, to say that I was nervous was an understatement. I thought the friends I would make on the first day would last forever. I was nervous and excited as my parents and I drove to the campus. By the end of that day, I had cried two times because I didn't know anyone. Granted I did meet a few people at Welcome Weekend. There were so many unknowns that I wish I had all of the answers to.

The Best Years of Our Lives...
"These will be the best years of your life!" That's what they tell you before you fly the nest for a distant (or in my case, nearby) university town or city. Your mum or dad will take you to Dunelm and fill the trolley with bedding, kitchen utensils, and maybe even a slow cooker that you'll never use. Before you know it, they're kissing you goodbye and holding back tears as they leave you in an unfamiliar block of university halls in an unfamiliar town in an unfamiliar part of the country. It is then you meet a bunch of unfamiliar people.

Do College Diners Reinforce Bad Eating Choices?
Gooey melted cheese pizzas. Hearty, juicy burgers with unlimited fries. Ice cream swirls with flowing rivers of hot fudge syrup and a dash of colorful sprinkles. And then there’s a salad: cold, unprepared, and DIY. Honestly, which one would you choose?

Professor Issues
Being a college student has opened my eyes on how repetitive education is. I mean some professors have reasons to their methods and others have absolutely no idea how to teach college students. I am practically an adult and paying to go to school, yet some professors think they are teaching kids. I have this English professor that would start a sentence and call on of us in the class to finish the sentence. It could be about any topic in the world and we would fix what she wrote incorrect on the board to teach grammar, cool right? Wrong. Instead of talking to us like we were adults, she would start out saying, "JOHN DOE! Finish the sentence. Okay, now class, what ... (Pause) ...did I ... (Pause) ... do wrong ... (Pause) ... in writing ... (pause) ... this sentence ... (pause) ... that John ... (pause) ... gave us?" She talked so slow and I swear she was killing the brain cells that controlled my needs of motivation.

10 Tips for Starting Grad School
When I took the plunge and went back to school to study for my Master of Arts, I thought it would be fairly similar to my undergraduate studies in terms of pacing, workload, and difficulty. I was mistaken. It was more challenging in all the best ways and I loved every second of my time spent studying for my MA, but if I could start over, these are the things I wish I had known.
