Take a TikTok tour with Adam Lind and Lauren Coley as they showcase their charming narrowboat

A couple on TikTok has gained 220,000 followers chronicling the day-to-day living on their 59-foot narrowboat — or the name given to a type of vessel designed to fit the narrow passages of the UK canal system.

Adam Lind, his wife Lauren Coley, and their dog, Shanti shared a walkthrough of the boat on TikTok last week that has garnered half a million views. In addition to Coley's bathroom DIY, Lind has chronicled upgrades to the boat's exterior and their other daily life rituals.

Commenters have been largely marveling at the cozy space, while have been more skeptical and nervous about the tight corners and physics of living in a narrowboat.

"With everything on one side of the boat, do you feel that it is tilting to that side?" one asked. "I think it would be really cool if you build a tugboat as a bed and breakfast and pulled behind your narrow," another wrote. Lind responded that they had once considered the idea.

Take a look inside the couple's floating home:

Despite their initial resistance to the boat's unconventional "reverse layout," the couple has grown to adore and appreciate its unique design.

Accessing the boat leads you directly into a well-equipped and fully stocked kitchen area.

Lind begins the tour by sharing that the boat, which he mentioned to a commenter was acquired for £38,000 (equivalent to approximately $47,000), boasts a captivating "reverse layout" where entry into the living area is through the kitchen.

Despite his initial reservations, Lind now expresses a genuine fondness for this arrangement.

The walls are adorned with a soothing light blue hue, while the kitchen area is equipped with a conveniently placed washing machine under the counter. The shelves along the walls proudly display an abundance of spices and cooking essentials. A window above the sink provides a picturesque view of the surrounding water.

Lind enthusiastically expresses his appreciation for the separation this layout creates between the kitchen and the living space, referring to it as his own personal sanctuary while he indulges in evening cooking sessions.

Shanti finds comfort in the couple's snug bedroom.

Overhead cabinets and dreamcatchers serve as decorative accents above the bed.

A doorway reveals the couple's intimate sleeping area, providing viewers with a glimpse of a narrow bed embellished with cabinets and decor.

Although cozy, a few commenters expressed concerns about the limited space, with one writing, "My lower back couldn't handle it."

During Lind's absence from town, Coley took the initiative to renovate the bathroom.

The bathroom marks the couple's first major renovation project, where they have completely transformed the space.

Beyond the bedroom, concealed by a sliding door, lies the couple's bathroom. Lind highlights that this space stands as their inaugural "complete renovation," being the only room where they've deviated from the boat's original wood aesthetics.

The bathroom showcases a tiled wall, a compost toilet, a stone-bowl sink, and embellishments such as hanging houseplants and crystals.

In her vlog documenting the bathroom DIY project, Lind shares her solo accomplishments, including building a new laundry hamper and installing new flooring.

"Engaging in DIY projects gives me an immense sense of accomplishment," she exclaims, adding humorously, "and I believe Adam should go away more often."

The couple emphasized that one aspect they couldn't compromise on was having sufficient floor space in their living room for practicing yoga.

The living space, filled with brightness and a sense of openness, revolves around a captivating turquoise couch.

Situated at the front end of the boat, you'll find Lind and Coley's delightful "living space," a sun-drenched room featuring a captivating turquoise couch. Lind points out that they have intentionally kept everything on one side of the room to ensure ample floor space for their yoga practice.

Within this charming room, you'll also discover a cozy fireplace, a stylishly adorned mannequin showcasing clothing, shelves filled with pottery and books, and an abundance of greenery. Lind humorously remarks that their collection of houseplants rivals that of a garden center.
