Libraries are no longer the boring and silent places that they used to be. Libraries today are centers of learning, creativity, and community engagement. One library that exemplifies this trend is Mupat Library, a school library at Muhammadiyah 4 Elementary School Malang, Indonesia, which is actively promoting literacy and creativity through its Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity.
Fun and Creative Activity
Sprinkle Magic Cupcake is a fun and creative activity that is led by the librarian Rofiqoh Zakkiyyah. Rofiqoh understands that librarians should not only recommend books, but they can also facilitate activities that encourage creativity, life skills, and literacy. Through the Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity, children learn various techniques in decorating cupcakes, as well as develop innovation and color harmony in decoration. They are also encouraged to read books related to cupcake decoration, which promotes literacy and learning.

The Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity has been well-received by the children who attend it. Many of them look forward to the next session and are eager to learn more about cupcake decoration. Belva, a grade 1 student who participated in this activity, said, "I learned a lot of ways to make cupcakes beautiful and delicious. I like to use different toppings to make it more attractive." Belva's enthusiasm is shared by many other children who participate in the activity.

Dzul Qornain, a librarian at Mupat Library, is happy to see the enthusiasm of the children in the Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity. "This activity provides a different experience for children who are used to textbooks. They can learn while playing and improve their creativity," he said. Dzul understands that creativity is an important life skill that children should develop. Creativity not only helps children to express themselves but also improves problem-solving skills.

Mrs. Hana Ayudah, the principal of Muhammadiyah 4 Elementary School Malang, is also a strong supporter of the Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity. She believes that the activity promotes not only creativity but also a love for reading. "Children who participate in this activity are encouraged to read books related to cupcake decoration, which promotes literacy and learning. This is a great way to promote reading among children," she said.

In addition to promoting creativity and literacy, the Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity also promotes discipline among the children who participate in it. The activity has two categories of awards for the Best Cupcake Design and Most Disciplined Attendee. These awards recognize the children who have beautiful decorations, color harmony, innovation, and good discipline in following instructions and desk neatness.

Luki Pramita Dewi, a parent, is also happy that her child can participate in this beneficial activity. "I strongly support activities like this. Children can learn while playing and develop their creativity. In addition, this activity can also introduce children that the library is not just a place to read textbooks," she explained. Parents like Luki Pramita Dewi appreciate the fact that their children are learning important life skills while having fun.
At the end of the Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity, attendees are given certificates to recognize their participation and achievement. The design of the certificates is cute and reflects the whimsical nature of the activity. "My child was so proud to receive the certificate," said one parent. "It's a great way to encourage them to keep learning and developing their skills." The parent also mentioned that the cupcakes made during the activity were delicious and that her child enjoyed sharing them with the family. The Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity is a fun and tasty way to promote literacy and creativity among children in the community.
The Sprinkle Magic Cupcake activity is just one example of how libraries can promote creativity, literacy, and community engagement. Libraries are no longer just places where people can borrow books, but they are also places where people can come together, learn, and create.
