This is a controversial question, and many people will get annoyed at this... Should you charge as a new hypnotherapist from day one after just being certified?

The answer is always yes! And here is why.

When you go from being a nobody and not being that confident in your skills and charging a very high price, something incredible happens to you as the "quality of paid clients' vs 'free clients' brings out the best hypnotherapist in you.

We all know, or you should know or should recognize, you will probably see this over time, is a lot of therapy is successful due to either a lot of motivation from your client saying, "yes, I want to change my life", or having a lot of skin in the game from your client who has paid you a lot of money.

When I was charging $100 to $150 per client to stop smoking, the quality of clients was garbage, and I hated it.

I hated the people and started to hate something I was so in love with.

These low-quality hypnosis clients complained a lot, weren't on time and had minimal breakthroughs.

I reflect on this now and admit I would probably still struggle with those $100 clients as well because there's no motivation there.

They don't care whether they quit smoking or overcome anxiety because there's only $100 in the game for them.

The quality goes through the roof when you start charging those higher prices. The bigger the motivation, the better and faster the breakthrough.

I don't want to say this part, but it's the truth.

You can be a lousy therapist if your client is motivated because it'll just work. After all, that motivation is the trigger between a client not having a transformation or having the transformation.

Regarding economics, your cash flow needs to be immediate for growing your hypnosis business and getting paid clients.

Let me say this bluntly.

Did you get charged for your certification?

In most cases, were you charged tens of thousands of dollars to become a hypnotherapist?

The answer is yes.

You need that money back. Cash flow dictates the success of your business; for it to survive, it needs lifeblood, and lifeblood is, unfortunately, cash.

It's not free sessions; it's not a pro-bono sessions.

Now, if you have to complete free pro-bono sessions to get your certification, I get that, but I don't believe it's necessary as far as being a good hypnotherapist.

So start charging straight away. You'll learn more.

Even if you fail but have very high price clients, the transformations will happen for you anyway.

They'll be a lot more consistent. You'll have a lot more control because your clients are more motivated.

A hypnosis business is hard to grow when you're working a full-time job.

Having trained more than 30,000 students globally in conversational hypnosis and, at this moment, more than 2500 students smashing six figures and multiple six figures in their businesses, I know what I am talking about.

I see in this indusrty people who spend their first 12 to 24 months giving away free stuff because they live through their excuses and conclusions about why they can not charge for their sessions. ("I am not good enough to charge yet")

I say all of this to say if you want to become a very confident hypnotherapist with clients who have fast and effective breakthroughs - you MUST charge.

If you do, the quality will stay high, and your confidence will be preserved.
