Philanthropy is an important part of donating to charitable organizations. Philanthropic contributions allow for many people in need, such as the homeless and those with disabilities, to get necessities that they might not otherwise be able to afford. This article takes a look at how literacy rates are connected with philanthropic donations.

The connection between literacy and philanthropy

In a study conducted by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, it was found that a high percentage of surveyed individuals with an annual income over $125,000 have donated to the greater good during the previous 12 months. Additionally, those who have a post-graduate degree are more likely to be wealthy and charitable than those with only a high school diploma or less.

The connection between education and income

Another study conducted by Gallup found that those with higher incomes were more likely to be satisfied with the following: their standard of living, their community, and their ability to influence decisions within both of these areas. This indicates that there is a strong relationship between income and personal satisfaction. Additionally, this study found that those who have an annual household income greater than $90k are almost twice as likely to give back by volunteering at least once per month compared to those who have an annual household income of less than $90k annually.

Income vs Volunteer work

A third study conducted by Chronicle Guidance Publications examined philanthropic giving for the year 2006. This study found that higher education levels were associated with more charitable donations. Those who did not complete high school were less likely to give than those who completed some college, and those who received their bachelor’s degree were more likely to donate than those who had attended some college but did not graduate.

Education level and charitable giving

These four studies show there is a connection between philanthropic contributions, income, education level, and satisfaction with specific areas in life. Those with higher incomes are more likely to be satisfied with their standard of living, community involvement, and influence on decision making within these communities; this leads them to make charitable donations more often than people with lower. Additionally, education level affects both income and how often these people volunteer. Those with higher incomes are more likely to have a bachelor’s degree or higher, while those who come from homes that earn less than $90k annually are much less likely to have graduated college.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there is a clear connection between education level, income level, and charitable contributions. All three variables correlate with one another, although income does not always lead to satisfaction in life, it is often the case that higher-income yields personal happiness amongst people. This information can be useful when applying for jobs or grants that are education-based or based on philanthropic donations within the community.
