How Cutting Out Four Inflammatory Foods Led to Healing My Gut—and Shedding Thirty Pounds Naturally

A diseased stomach will prevent you from burning fat.

Because of the tight connection it shares with the immunological, neurological, and digestive systems, a healthy gut is the foundation of a lean body. On the other hand, one of the major causes of a slow metabolism is an inflamed gut.

After years of weight loss, weight gain, and pain due to gastrointestinal inflammatory symptoms:

  • bloating.
  • Gas.
  • Discomfort digesting.
  • Irregular bowel movements.

These four foods inflame. I stopped eating to become the healthiest I ever was and lost thirty pounds of fat in seven months:

Ultra-processed meals

There is more in ultra-processed meals than just excess sugar and extra salt.

They are sleeping in:

  • artificial coloration.
  • hydrogenated fats.
  • preservatives.

Prolonging the shelf life and durability of food by banning the activity of microorganisms fermenting it-the thing sounds great, but the chemicals have exactly the same effect upon microbes in your gut.

Reduces your gut barrier and disturbs your gut microbiota, accordingly.

However, research shows that UPFs make up over 58% of what we consume daily. For me at my worst, they made up approximately 80 percent of my diet. I do not altogether abstain from these delicious snacks, but I try as best as possible to adhere to UPFs to 20 percent of my diet.

Nutrient Improved Carbohydrates

This grains doesn't contain fiber, bran, and nutrients.

Removing the fiber enhances carbohydrate digestion and raises insulin levels that create three big problems: Insulin resistance, weight gain, and possible Type 2 Diabetes.

I realize that substituting simple refined carbohydrates with complex carbs is the perfect way to feed your gut flora that thrives on fiber while consuming carbohydrates.

I have incorporated following seven complex carbs in my diet over the past two years:

  • Bananas, artichokes, onions, and garlic.
  • whole oats.
  • Apples.
  • Kimchi.

Refined and Vegetable Seed Oils the primary source of clogged arteries and leaky gut.

Due to modern health movements, restaurants and businesses have creatively renamed most of these oils after vegetables, to include:

  • Canola.
  • corn.
  • cottonseed.
  • soybeans.
  • sunflower.
  • Safflower.
  • grapeseed.
  • Rice bran.

On the contrary to using these industrial oils, I cook in healthy fats now that have the added benefits of flavor and anti-inflammatory properties. I use these two fats in their stead:

  • Avocado Oil.
  • Grass-fed Butter.

Refined Sugars

Saving the worst for last as they say.

The extra sugars you ingest feed the pathogens in your stomach-the bad bacteria. On the other hand, the good bacteria-those that feed off of low-sugar plant fibers-are the ones that are dying from hunger.

And it does not end here; sugar has also been known to rupture the intestinal barrier, leading to leaky gut syndrome.

Over the last ten years, companies have tried to mask naming the sugars with very attractive names such as "pineapple extract." Here is a list of over 100:

I replace all of the above artificial sugars found in my food with natural sweeteners such as

  • Yacon syrup.
  • Raw honey.
  • Raw dates.
  • Coconut crystals.
