Mindset that the Customers Need in their Wellness Transformation

I was meeting one of my clients in his apartment gym and I happen to meet another gentleman who has been "working out" for the last two months with another trainer at the same apartment gym.

I friendly asked him.

"How are things going for you and have you been working on weight loss?"

" Yes, all going good. I was doing cardio workout today, and yes, I am working on my weight loss. But I am not losing weight though."

"Have you been working on your diet changes as well apart from the workouts?"

"Not much. I have good discipline through the week days with workouts but come weekend, I eat more and don't do any workout."

His reply sort of implied this to me - He has not been told enough about the sustainable diet changes that he must be making to see his weight loss apart from working out. Workouts alone may not yield weight loss. Add to that, overeating. It may add further weight to your body, especially when you are lifting good weights, though it would be mostly be muscle mass that you would be gaining!

He knows, he has to control his weekend eating along with eating right in the week days. but he is not doing that yet, to see through his weight loss. I appreciated his honest response while I was concerned about two things. He either he did not know what he needs to do about his diet or he was not yet ready to commit to making changes in diet that will surely give him results.

"Weight loss is not an IT project where you can do two different things in two different directions, yet get results for one and not get result for another and you are still okay with it!".

It is your body. It is the single entity that needs attention from many directions, especially all aspects working in conjunction to give you the results and transform you.

I am sharing this scenario just as an example.

There are many people who are working on their wellness transformation, yet not having that holistic understanding of how they need to be doing things though they have coaches helping them. They think that they will pay a quarterly or a monthly fee and do just a few things, they would get the results and that's it. They will continue to live the way they were living!

It could be weight loss, improving your fitness, gaining healthy weight (for those who are lean), reversing a chronic illness such as hypertension or diabetes.

Any wellness transformation is not a one-time activity. It actually happens in two phases.

Phase 1: You achieve your actual result that you want. Losing weight or reversing an illness condition!

Phase 2: You continue to do things that you learned in the phase 1 so that you don't fall back, either gaining weight or starting medication for your illness condition.

One of the foremost important things to do before you start on your wellness transformation is to understand holistically what you need to do to get your result.

For example. to lose the weight in a healthy way, you need to do the following, as a bare minimum.

- Bring in an exercise regime which has Weight lifting, and cardio workouts in good proportion. You may want to add a big of yoga as well as that would give you more flexibililty and mobility and may as well prevent injuries through your exercise regime, if you are completely new to physical activities/exercise programs.

- Fix your diet and nutrition along with your eating habits. This is way too important and if your coach or trainer is not telling you this, it would become a big gap later and you may lose your motivation in your wellness transformation.

- Fix some of your lifestyle habits - sleep, hydration, preventing stress, how many coffee/tea you drink in a day, not overdoing any of the exercise or diet

Likewise for every wellness transformation you need to do a set of things in a focused way to get the right results in an optimum time.

Many people are thinking that, losing weight is a one time activity and can be done in 3 to 6 months and then, tadaa, your weight will be always the same yet you have not changed any of your lifestyle habits!! This is the saddest part and an irony.

Add to it, many weight-loss coaches are promising "x" kg weight loss in "y" weeks/months as if it is a temporary pursuit of the client and the client himself/herself do not have any interest in their overall long-term health through the weight-loss process.

If you ask me to list down a few mindset changes that a customer need to make, here you go:

* You would have to change some of your habits and behaviours, especially with sleep, eating, exercises, and stress levels

* As much as you earn money for your living, you need to earn your health for your living, happiness, and fulfillment.

* All that you are spending towards your transformation - look at them as your investment and your return on investment will be best if you did the right work as you make time and effort.

* Learning is highly important. Many of my customers, who had never done any sort of exercises in the past, today have a whole range of equipment at home and doing exercises regularly on their own with guidance and training plan from me.

If you did these 4 things right, I can guarantee, you will 100% get your results and transform yourself.

PS: By no means, my intention is not to bring a comparison of any sorts between coaches in this post. I truly respect coaches/trainers, myself being a coach. This post is more to do with what clients and customers should understand before they start on their wellness transformation.
