Whatever it is, "writing" is work, and most of us have an awkward relationship with it. But it doesn't have to be like that! Writing is performance—it hinders, it can be heavenly pleasure or it is a task. It can be related to feelings of guilt, shame, and deep and undetectable desires. These are big words.

Benefits of Description
As a writer, it is essential the message is clear, and well understood. This clarity mainly comes from how the paper is worded and organized. Being a descriptive writer reaps many benefits for both the author and reader. I believe descriptive writers, such as myself, focus on the reader more than anything. Making sure the reader understands and comprehends is one of my main priorities when composing an essay. I have learned being vague comes from my assumption that readers already possess the same prior knowledge as myself. Explaining my ideas and thoughts also helps me think, which is one of the many benefits I have received from being a vivid author. Because I am a descriptive writer, I am trained to search for detail, as well as being able to communicate to various audiences, and voice my stance on a certain subject.

Graphic Novel Adaptations by Gareth Hinds and Candlewick Press
I am continuously surprised when parents discourage their children from reading by refusing to let them read comics. Many adults that I talk to profess to dislike reading books because they hated what they were forced to read as children. Why are we so bent on forcing people to read what they vocally don't want to read? It's only going to kill the joy that reading can bring! Reading what you love anyway.
