The Completely Sensible Expansion of Creative Writing Courses
Author's Note: At the conclusion of my most recent writing course, I was required to write a Critical Essay based upon one of our class readings. Among these readings, was an article by Barry Spurr, which you can read by clicking here. The title of this article pretty much tells you all you need to know of his opinion: "The Inane Expansion of Creative Writing Courses." This vicious and unsupported attack from Mr. Spurr simply demanded a response, and because this is something very near and dear to all of us Vocal Creators, I have decided to share the finished product of my response to Barry Spurr with my fellow Vocalites (as I like to call us 😉). Under no circumstance, ever, should anyone (especially those with the desire) be deterred from writing or learning about writing. I have added in some appropriate quotes, pictures, and additional formatting to make this digital reading more pleasant.🖤 🖤 Thank you for taking the time to read this essay. If you enjoy it, please Like, Share, and Subscribe! And check out my profile by clicking HERE. 🖤 🖤 And for any curious of my final grade: "A" - Nailed it!! 🖤

However, while writing — particularly in academic contexts — we should use fewer sentences and utilize fewer words and clauses to convey information than when speaking.

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of in my years on the planet to this point is that I had the magnificent opportunity to teach a variety of students in a variety of content areas in a variety of grade levels in a variety of schools in a variety of locations all over the world. It has been said that variety is the spice of life. If that is true, then teaching school has offered me a multitude of chances to spice up my life over the years. There are so many things that take place in a school building that warm the heart, tickle one’s fancy, make one cry, piss one off, blow one’s mind or drop one to the floor in a fit of laughter. I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of teaching during my 32 years in the classroom. From the first day of school in September to the last day in June, to the field trips, to the hands-on activities, to coaching teams at tournaments, to tutorials for students, to making up lessons and exams.

The Teenage Years - An Essay on Growing Up
It was 1968. At school we were set the task of writing an essay about adolescence, I was 14 years old at the time. It did occur to me to write about the bullying, but felt it would only get worse if I ‘snitched’ on them. So, I went for a walk to get some inspiration, just like I do nowadays, and made my way down to the common and the River Test in Hampshire. I stopped halfway on the bridge.

Should Latin Be Taught in VCE?
Introduction: On the 31st of May 2021, I returned to Haileybury College, from which I had graduated four years prior, as a member of staff. I was now the new Latin Teaching Assistant and virtually scurrying from break-out room to break-out room to introduce myself. After the basic niceties had been exchanged, I asked each group of students what I considered to be a fairly important question: Why Latin? One of the most time-intensive subjects on the VCE roster, I assumed that no sane student would take up the subject without a good reason. And, without exception, I received some variation on the same theme: ‘Because it scales well’, with the optional addition of: ‘and I need a good ATAR to get into med’.

How to Make Science Interesting for Kids? - Swiflearn
Science creates the spark to think of how an atom is formed. It is one subject that can surely gain the kid’s attention towards wanting to know more. It helps kids stop believing something blindly. It is true that science has become much more enjoyable as compared to the days of yore where science was taught to children using chalk and slate. Now, students are more engaged in reading interesting science articles and novels that are related to the strands of science. However, the challenge still remains of how much students can adapt to when science is made fun and not just treated as mere topics in order to pass the examinations.
