Preparing for the Worst: What to Do in a Global Catastrophe
Preparing for the Worst: What to Do in a Global Catastrophe? You’re likely to hear about the potential for a global catastrophe every few years. Whether it’s an asteroid, pandemic, cyberattack, or nuclear war that poses the greatest risk to civilization as we know it, there’s always someone who believes the world is ending. To be fair, the world almost ended once before. Several times over recorded history—take the Black Plague in Europe in the 14th century or volcanic eruptions that triggered a period of extended darkness and cold called The Little Ice Age. Fortunately, these were all brief historical moments when human existence was at risk. As a result, we now live more sustainably than ever before. But what if this time is different? What if some new strain of disease like SARS or influenza mutates into something much deadlier? What if artificial intelligence becomes so advanced that it decides humans are no longer needed on earth? Or what if one small rogue nation decides launching a nuclear missile at another country is worth starting World War III?

How to write narrative charts
Narrative charts are a way to record patient data. This allows nurses and doctors to quickly consult patients and plan for future treatment. Nursing students who are successful will be able to use both the SOAIP and DAIR methods of narrative charting. Each letter in the acronym DAIR represents a step in the information-gathering and treatment procedures: Data, Assessment, Intervention and Response. Each letter in SOAIP represents a type or data: Subjective, Assessment, Assess, Intervene, Propose, and Observation. To be proficient at narrative charting, you must practice making observations and drawing reasonable conclusions. Then, formulate the best plan of actions based on these conclusions.

Stop Calling Advanced kids 'Gifted'
Start writing... In school there was always a subject or many that some of us accelerated at while others struggled to pick up the material. With being well versed in certain subjects those students often would get labeled as 'gifted, genius, etc.' What those terms actually do to the person can set them up for struggles later in life. Those struggles can lead to depression and anxiety and other mental and behavioral issues for that individual. From a young age I was constantly told that I was gifted in certain subjects this lead to added pressures from family, peers, and teachers to have me always be perfect and anything less was unacceptable. I remember bringing home a test in middle school where I tried my best and I received a "C". My teacher was disappointed in me saying I didn't try hard enough and my mother thought I deserved to be grounded because I know better than to bring home a grade that was below a "B+". Hearing these comments made me feel upset as my older sisters were never advanced in subjects as I was so they never were grounded for bringing home low grades.
