Importance of Education
Why Should I Attend a College?

Over the years, man had lived lifestyles that are controversial. While some get themselves educated about a thing or the other, some lived to wallow in abject ignorance and allow themselves to be ruled and controlled by the educated. Living an educated life is essential to human beings, and that in recent years, going to colleges has been a thing of joy for the populace. A college is a beautiful place for students to experience.
Firstly, attending a college is liken to mean a movement or journey from ignorance to cognizance. A college attendee will no doubt has a proper awareness of his or her environment. The Corona virus pandemic has exposed a lot of people to a vulnerable life, while some believe the virus is dangerous (the learned), others believed it’s just a scam that government is using to cart money from the nation’s pocket (ignorance). When someone is learned, it’s easy for him or her to browse around and get his fact. He will also have the better chance of knowing where and when to move to avoid miscreants. Also, college students are opened to find better opportunities. Before most of us get into college, we always believed that life is finished at home, but as we get to school, we found that life is wider than we’ve always thought. This prompt most students to try to look for more opportunities for himself to thrive in life. Furthermore, being educated makes one look proud and move away from being ridiculed in the environment. A lot of people that wallow in ignorance tend to do things in such a way that people laugh at. Being educated is blessing, and everyone that get the chance to attend a college is blessed if they get things right and avoid distractions.
Attending a college has made me what I’m today. Years back, I was wallowing in my village where people tend to take education as just a mere play. Because I’m born here, I believed that was how education is to be taken. The transition that changed my life was when I had to move to neighboring state. Here, I saw people dressing in mature ways, they behave in ways that are strange to me, they eat the same food I ate in different ways, they talk about issues that are out of this world. I was amazed, and thoughts started flowing through my head. I started regretting the life and years I’ve wasted thinking ignorance is a gift and education is just an option. I decided to change, and it’s happening. However, a poor fellow like, myself cannot afford a university degree. This prompt me to look online and find better opportunities for myself. Surprisingly, I found an online platform that also offers scholarships to students. I jumped at it and my life has been changing ever since then. Although “College degrees are simply not necessary for many jobs. Of the 30 jobs projected to grow at the fastest rate over the next decade in the United States, only seven typically require a bachelor’s degree, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics” (Steinberg). This even sounds more soothing as I know the future is bright. Indeed, education is a blessing!
To proceed with, attending a college is an instrument to achieving a better life. It’s obvious today, in the labour market that if an individual dreams of earning big, you can only think of an option, getting a college degree. Research have shown that people with a college degree earns more and better than people with skills but not educated. ‘‘Young adults see significant economic gains from getting a college degree regardless of the level of student debt they have taken on” (Yen, 2014). While it’s important to acquire some skills, it’s also important to get a degree to brush it up. This makes a person earns higher and live bigger even than their dream. Also, people that attend college tend to live healthier than those that refuses to get one. If one looks at the labour market today, those with the college degree get jobs that are less casual, meaning jobs that require too much of energy. This makes them to live healthier and sometimes longer than their counterpart. Again, educated fellows knows what to eat, what to drink, and how to drink. They follow proper etiquette than those without education. To sum up, it’s important to get a college degree to enjoys the goodies of life, earn more and live better and healthier.
Finally, college students have high chances of being a better impact in life. One of the purposes of attending a college is to impart life, and make the environment a better place. Those with the college degree are most of the time charge with the responsibility of teaching the younger one. Also, they are looked at with respect. People looked up to them as motivators and tries to better their life following their footsteps. A lot of countries gives better respect to students because they believe they are the leader of tomorrow’s economic movement and a better country.
To sum up, college degree means a lot, and people should be encouraged to get one. From transition from ignorance to awareness, having a better chance to live a good life, earn more and live healthier, and to gain respect to be a source of motivation to the younger ones, the benefits of college degree cannot be limited, it encompasses the universe. According to Paul Taylor, Pew executive vice president, “In today’s knowledge-based economy, the only thing more expensive than getting a college education is not getting one.” Everyone should endeavor to get one.
