Tell us about yourself.

I’m not just a singer; I’m also a music producer-songwriter and composer. In addition to the creative side, I’m involved in the business aspects of music. At present, I work as a music and creative director at a company.

Have you always envisioned to follow the musical path?

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be a successful musician, not just as a singer or producer. After gaining more experience and exploring different areas, that music has so much to give me.

What are your fond memories from your school days?

Looking back, every day of my 12-year school journey was valuable and a learning experience. If I had to pick one standout memory, it would be the time spent preparing for the Annual Appreciation Day functions. Those activities were key in helping me overcome my stage fright.

How has school helped you grow?

The school taught me much more than just academics. It instilled essential values like manners, discipline, and the importance of building relationships. I learnt the true essence of friendship, as I’m still connected with some of the people I met there. I learnt how to maintain relationships, practice compassion, and navigate life with resilience. School taught me gratitude and self-reliance, all while emphasising love and compassion as guiding principles.

What was the first time you wrote a song or a verse?

I must have been around nine years old when I composed a song about friendship. I don’t remember all the lyrics, but I recall being called something like “brothers” in it. One day, after a school sports event, I came home, sat at my keyboard, and wrote a few lines. The next day, I played it for my friends.

What has been your biggest challenge within the industry? How did you overcome it?

I don’t view obstacles as challenges, but lessons. In my work, especially in the public domain of music and entertainment, I’ve learnt that it’s impossible to please everyone. Not everyone will like you, and that’s okay. The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is how to handle criticism. In this field, you’re constantly facing feedback from all directions. The key is to stay focused on your vision, take constructive criticism in stride, and not let it derail your process.

How do you market your songs?

Many people still believe that being a musician only means playing an instrument or singing, but there’s a whole corporate side to music that most don’t realise. The digital age has transformed music into a business, with platforms like Spotify and YouTube making data, marketing, publishing, and licensing essential. Success now requires understanding both the creative and business aspects of the industry. For aspiring artists, it’s crucial to grasp the business side; ‘marketing and promotion’, if you want to stand out in today’s competitive market.

Describe your music journey in three words.

Passion, Gratitude, and God’s child.
