Start with the basics

If you want to create your own professional, content-rich site without having to become a web developer, there are many tools and services that can help. You just need to find the one that is right for you. Here are some of our favorite choices:

* Wix: For those who have no coding experience, Wix offers drag-and-drop templates that make it easy to create attractive websites with features such as email capture, lead generation forms and social media integration.

* WordPress: The world's most popular blogging platform also makes it easy to build your own website. * Shopify: Shopify provides everything you need to set up an online store - including ecommerce software, marketing tools and a reliable hosting infrastructure - all hosted on their secure servers.

* SquareSpace: Squarespace helps you tell your story by providing beautifully designed themes and lots of useful features including ecommerce capabilities and mobile optimization.

Create your content

Create your style guide

There are four main parts of a style guide: colors, fonts, layout and spacing. I recommend using Photoshop or Illustrator for the design phase. Colors and fonts can be chosen by browsing through different color palettes (Adobe Color CC) or font families (Typekit). Layouts can be created from scratch using the program's tools, found online (Dribbble), or copied from other websites. Spacing should be considered when you're placing your content on the page. As mentioned before, line height is one way to control spacing. You can also adjust the letter-spacing or word-spacing as needed. For instance, if there's too much space between each word, tighten up the letter-spacing so it looks more like a paragraph. The most important thing to remember is that if something looks off on the screen, it will look even worse once printed out.

Set up your WordPress theme

Your WordPress theme will be the foundation of your website. It's what you'll use to add content and design the layout, so it's important that you choose one that fits with your business. You can find free themes online, or purchase a pre-made theme from a third-party site.

Select the theme you want to use and install it by clicking on Add New under the Themes tab on your dashboard.

Customize your menu bar

1. Get your domain and hosting

2. Choose your blogging platform (Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace)

3. Install the software you have chosen on your domain name

Add widgets on your side bar

- Website Builder

- Domain Registration

- Hosting and Domain Setup

Install plugins

There are a lot of plugins that can make your site do just about anything you want, but the ones listed below are some of the most popular for small businesses. Plugins can help with everything from making your site mobile-friendly to adding social media share buttons.

Set up your social media accounts

-Setting up your social media accounts will help you connect with your customers and grow your company's following.

-Some places where you can set up social media accounts include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+, etc. You'll need to create profiles for these sites that have the same name as your business. You'll also want to start posting updates that are related to what you do (such as tips on how to use your product) or announcements about new products. If someone retweets or shares one of your posts, this will help other people find out about what you do!
