GiVE Culture

The Power of Positivity

By Kahsia SolairePublished 4 years ago 3 min read

I come from a long line of givers. My mother was a school teacher, my grandmother fostered over 100 chidren in her lifetime, and my great grandmother was a nurse during World War 2. It comes as no suprise that my sister and I take after the heroic women in our family. My older sister, Shauna Felix, is the founder of GiVE Culture, a clothing brand with a powerful message, and I am a content creator, here to help brands like hers get attention. My mission as a content creator is to work with companies that are leaving a positive impact on our world, and to spread love, light, and positivity to humanity both online, and in my local community.

My career as a content creator began in the festival industry. I attended my first transformational festival on my 24th birthday, and it completely changed my life. I had never been in an environment that was so unconditionally loving and accepting, where I could freely express myself and be creative, with the support and encouragement of the people around me. I fell in love with the culture, and decided that I wanted to build a career around bridging the gap between festival culture and our society. My intention for life became about making others feel empowered to be themselves, express their authenticity with love and acceptance, and to help other like-minded entrepreneurs expand their businesses.

I began my career as a blogger, writing articles for different festivals, and an online magazine called Aura Avenue. I developed skills as a writer and photographer, and then eventually found myself getting into videography. I was a natural with the camera, and I began a lifestyle YouTube channel. Now I have worked on a variety of video projects for conscious creators, including music videos, short films, interviews, commericals, business videos, and non-profit videos for organizations, including GiVE Culture.

GiVE Culture was founded by Shauna and Noel Felix, and was inspired as an anti-bullying messaging system. Shauna has a degree in Communications, and has spent majoirty of her life working in the school district. She remembers being bullied as a kid and how that impacted her, and has seen all forms of bullying in schools as a teacher. She is passionate teaching kids how to embody kindness, and explains how our actions impact the lives of the people around us. She and Noel host assemblies at schools, where they hand out GiVE shirts, and teach the students about the effects that their words have on their classmates.

One video that I helped them create was a post-assemby video showing potential clients what they do at an assemby, and the positive impact it has on the students.

GiVE Culture is a clothing brand that has a powerful message. Each t-shirt has the word GiVE, followed by a positive word such as hope, encouragement, kindness, strength, love, etc. The letter "i" in GiVE is lowercase to represent selflessness. "Each GiVE garment is designed to bring out the best in each of us. GiVE kindness to a stranger. GiVE compassion to a friend in need. GiVE encouragement to a student."

Ten percent of their proceeds go to their non-profit:

"GiVE CULTURE Foundation for Impact, which exists to build teaching tools, grade school curriculum, and leadership trainings, so that we can teach mindfulness and generosity to the next generation."

We believe that the world needs GiVE CULTURE, now, more than ever. We believe that we can create commonality and respect between people from all walks of life, and all nationalities, in time. Our brand is designed to inspire mindfulness and generosity, in an increasingly divided world, one t-shirt at a time.

Teaching our youth about the impact that our words have on one another is extrememly important for the future of our society. I'm sure we can all remember a time when another person said something mean, rude, or disempowering to us, and how that made us feel. In some cases, this can severly affect our self esteem and self confidence, which can traumatize us and affect us for years to come. Shauna and Noel are proactively working towards implimenting their program into as many schools as possible, in hopes of transmuting these negaitve experiences into positive ones.

I am so proud to be collaborating with GiVE Culture, and to be creating content for their brand to soar. The next project I am working on with them is creating graphics for their pitch deck to corporate businesses, so that they can impliment these strategies in the corporate setting. Bullying and negativity may begin at a young age, but is often found in adulthood too. Our world needs healing at every level, and both GiVE Culture and myself, are passionate about doing what we can to bring more love, kindness, positivity, and connection to the world we live in.
